Century of the Self – Full Documentary

As you watch this documentary, Century of The Self, you will learn about how we got here as a society today and how it has been manipulated by elites for the past 100 years. 

 

You will see how Edward Bernays (Sigmend Freud’s nephew) used propaganda to get people to adopt cigarettes, among other things. 

 

It is said that Burnays was the first person to connect the emotional need to a product. 

 

This is a lengthy documentary, but very informative.

 

And you will also see more about how people are so EASILY deceived by advertising and other types of propaganda. 

 

Also, the documentary states, 

 

“He (Bernays) employed psychologists to issue reports that products were good for you and then pretended they were independent studies.”

 

Bernays also popularized the concept that individuals should invest into the stock market. 

 

And he suggested people get loans from banks that he represented! 

 

Bernays has also said “The masses are stupid” 

 

Even his daughter said he used that word alot! 

 

Most of the “elites” believe you are too stupid to manage your own life and thus need to be controlled.

 

That is why they want to control everything! 

 

Bernays also helped Sigmund Freud become famous in the United States. 

 

Then they continued with their propaganda. 

 

Freud believed humans were naturally sadistic and enjoyed torturing and killing. 

 

With that perspective on people, is it any surprise they want to CONTROL YOU??

 

They believe if you are free, you will hurt and destroy others.

 

That is why the elite do what they do. 

 

They think they’re being of service to humanity and doing the “right thing” by keeping you ignorant and controlled. 

 

A leading political writer in the 1900s, Walter Lippman, said if human beings were driven by unconscious, irrational forces, “it was necessary to rethink democracy.”

 

They felt they needed a “new elite” to control the “bewildered herd”. 

 

They did this by using psychological techniques to control the unconscious feelings of the masses. 

 

Bernays started writing books claiming he had the techniques to do exactly what Lippman wanted.

 

He called it the “engineering of consent” 

 

Then, in 1928, President Hoover agreed with Bernays and articulated that “consumerism would become the central motor of American life.”

 

With all the Americans taking out loans from banks and investing into the stock market, here comes the stock market crash of 1929!

 

It was the biggest stock market crash in history. 

 

It led to the Great Depression. 

 

Europe felt the effects of this also. A few years later, Germany decided to start a “new” way of ruling people. 

 

It was an “alternative to democracy”. 

 

They brought forth Joseph Goebbels, master of propaganda, to begin to control the minds of the German people. 

 

Goebbels began using manipulation techniques of Edward Bernays to control the German people. 

 

And well, you can imagine what happened from there…

 

In just a few short years, World War 2 began. 

 

A few years later, Bernays started working with the CIA, to help “control the hidden enemy in the human mind”.

 

This documentary then goes into how these techniques and others have evolved over the last 100 years and some of how they are used today! 

 

This documentary gives you a great idea of how a few people have manipulated society over the decades to stay in power and keep the masses suppressed and controlled. 

 

Remember, if we don’t know our history, we are doomed to repeat it! 

 

You can probably see other ways these “elites” are using similar psychological techniques today.
