House Committee Chair Announces Intent to Subpoena Biden Family Members in Foreign Business Dealings Probe

Washington, D.C. — In a recent announcement that has reverberated through the political landscape, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the chair of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, has disclosed his intentions to escalate the inquiry into President Joe Biden’s foreign business dealings by issuing subpoenas to members of the Biden family.

“This is always gonna end with the Bidens coming in front of the committee,” stated Comer in an exclusive interview with Fox Business on Thursday.

“We are going to subpoena the family.”

The Congressman’s assertion follows closely on the heels of a 19-page report unveiled by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, a day prior, which leveled allegations of corrupt international business dealings against President Biden and his family.

Notably, the report was met with skepticism and criticism from the White House, with claims that it was driven by political motivations and devoid of substantial evidence to support the accusations of corruption involving Biden.

In response, Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House, issued a statement rebuking Comer and his Republican colleagues.

Sams wrote, “Comer and his fellow extreme Republicans in Congress are now admitting they haven’t uncovered any proof of involvement or wrongdoing by President Biden.”

He further contended that the committee’s actions were tantamount to engaging in a baseless “impeachment stunt” aimed at undermining the President, accusing House Republicans of lacking a comprehensive vision and agenda to address the needs of the American populace.

In recent weeks, House Republicans have grown increasingly vocal in their calls for an impeachment inquiry into President Biden’s family business activities in China and Ukraine.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) publicly hinted at his support for such an inquiry late last month, although he has carefully avoided committing to formal impeachment proceedings that would seek to remove Biden from the presidency.

Counter to this caution, Comer asserted his belief in the robustness of the case being assembled against President Biden by the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.

“We know that this is going to end up in court when we subpoena the Bidens, so we’re putting together a case,” Comer confidently stated. “And I think we’ve done that very well.”

Nevertheless, Comer tempered expectations by clarifying that the issuance of subpoenas for members of the Biden family is not an immediate course of action.

“We want to talk to about three or four more associates first,” he disclosed. “We’re trying to bring them in just like we did Devon Archer for a transcribed interview. If they don’t come in voluntarily, then they’ll be subpoenaed.”

As the investigation unfolds and the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen whether the House Oversight and Accountability Committee’s efforts will yield concrete evidence to substantiate their claims or if the unfolding developments will take on a more dramatic trajectory in the days and weeks ahead.
