Got some breaking news, guys and gals. FBI Director Christopher Wray has announced his intention to resign at the conclusion of President Biden’s administration. He’s resigned. Wray shared this decision during a town hall meeting at FBI headquarters today in Washington, D.C., actually about like 35 minutes ago, which was attended virtually by thousands of FBI employees across the country. He said, after weeks of careful consideration, I decided the best course of action for the Bureau is to serve through the end of this administration in January and then step down because he knew he was going to get fired by Donald Trump the second his hand came down from being sworn in. Ray continued, my priority is to maintain our focus on our mission, the vital work you all do for the American people every day.

I believe this approach will help keep the Bureau out of unnecessary controversies and uphold the values that guide our work. Ray acknowledged that the decision was a difficult one. I bet it wasn’t. Emphasizing his deep affection for the FBI, its mission and its people. He continued, my focus has always been and will remain on what’s best for the FBI. As we face evolving threats, the importance of our mission, keeping Americans safe and upholding the Constitution, they struggle with that part, remains constant. What must also remain unchanged is our dedication to doing the right thing the right way every time.

He said, quote, the FBI’s mission, the quality of its people and their dedication to service over self form and enduring foundation that has stood the test of time.
