Welcome back to Guns and Gadgets, your premiere source for Second Amendment News, where we are defending freedom one video at a time. I’m Jared and I’m still a little under the weather, but today we’ve got a big announcement out of the state of Florida that could save gun owners some serious cash. Governor Ron DeSantis just introduced a tax holiday that he’s calling Second Amendment Summer. Got a pretty good ring to it. We’re breaking down what that means, when it starts, and how much you could save. And it’s not just for people in Florida. But before we dive in, make sure to hit that subscribe button and turn your notifications on so you never miss an update on your Second Amendment rights.
And a huge thank you to today’s sponsor, Brownells, your go-to source for tools, ammo, and accessories. Whether you’re building, upgrading, or stocking up, Brownells has what you need to stay ready. Plus, if you use code GNG10, you could save a little bit extra. Now let’s get into this. Yesterday, Governor Ron DeSantis unveiled his 2025-2026 budget proposal, and tucked inside that $115.6 billion dollar plan is a tax break for gun owners in Florida. And they’re gonna love it. Now for Memorial Day, which is May 26th this year, 2025, through Independence Day, July 4th, 2025, Floridians and others will be able to buy firearms, ammo, and a variety of accessories completely tax-free.
That means no state sales tax on items like firearms, ammunition, charging handles, cleaning kits, holsters, optics, pistol grips, stocks, and much, much more. And let’s be honest, in today’s economy, any savings at a gun counter is a win. Now DeSantis is calling it the Second Amendment Summer, and it could save Floridians an estimated $8 million dollars on their firearms and ammo purchases. That’s money staying in the hands of law-abiding gun owners not going into the state’s coffers. Now before you get too excited, pump-bar breaks a little bit. It’s not a done deal yet.
The budget proposal still needs final approval from the Florida legislature, and their session doesn’t start until March 4th. But DeSantis isn’t too worried about it. When asked whether he expects any pushback, his response was good. He said, quote, I think this is going to be wildly popular. Why would they want to fight back on that? This is something their voters would expect them to support. Pretty good. Now, I don’t know about you, but I think he’s got a point. Florida has recently moved forward on some pro-2A policies, not all of them, including constitutional carry, and with a Republican controlled legislature, albeit some rhinos, this tax holiday has a solid shot at becoming law.
But we’ll keep an eye on this because it’s not a done deal, like I said. So what does this mean for Floridians and even out-of-state gun buyers? Well, if you’re in Florida or planning to visit between May 26th and July 4th, you might want to hold off on buying your next firearm or ammo stockpile or whatever you need for your next build until the tax break kicks in. Now, let’s say you’re picking up a new handgun that costs 600 bucks. Florida’s sales tax is 6%, which means you’d save, you’d normally pay that extra $36 in tax.
Under this holiday, that’s 36 bucks that stays in your pocket. Multiply that across an AR build, bulk ammo purchases or some big upgrades and optics and the like, and the savings really start to add up. And remember, this isn’t just for Florida residents. If you’re visiting and you are not a prohibited purchaser, you can buy your firearms or ammo or accessories while you’re there. Obviously, firearms need to go to an FFL, but you could save that money by buying it if you’re in Florida anyway. You can really take advantage of this deal if you’re going to be in the state.
I might have to plan a trip to blackout coffee just to maybe buy something cool. Now, we all know that every dollar counts, especially when it comes to protecting ourselves and our families. A tax holiday like this makes it a lot easier for law-abiding Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights without extra financial burdens. And so many states want to add more financial burdens on gun owners to basically push them out of the market so that it’s like a backdoor gun ban, where here is DeSantis trying to say, you know what, get your stuff and save some money.
But here’s the thing. You know the anti-gun activists and politicians, including many RINOs, which stands for Republicans in name only, they’re watching this closely. If this passes in Florida and is successful, it could set a precedent for other states to do the same. That’s why we need to stay informed and engaged. If you’re in Florida, reach out to your state legislators and urge them to support this measure. If you’re outside of Florida, start pushing for something similar in your state. And of course, if you found this video helpful, be sure to help this channel by liking, sharing, and subscribing to Guns N Gadgets so you never miss an update on your Second Amendment rights.

Use code GNG10 to save on most items. That’s it for today, folks. Stay armed, stay ready, and I’ll see you all in the next one. Take care, America. [tr:trw].
