Arkansas Governor Enacts Senate Bill 1718, Recognizing Gold and Silver as Valid Currency and Exempting Monetary Metals from Tax Obligations
Under HB 1718, the era of taxing gold and silver in Arkansas has come to an end.
HB 1718 reaffirms gold and silver as legal tender, as well as ends all taxes on purchase, sale, or exchange, including state capital gains taxes.
In 2023, bills to restore sound, constitutional money have also been introduced in Alaska, Iowa, West Virginia, South Carolina, Missouri, Minnesota, Tennessee, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Kansas, and more.
As of today, only seven states (New Mexico, Hawaii, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Maine, New Jersey, and Vermont) still participate in the practice of taxing purchases of constitutional sound money.
