And so I said, well, you know, we’ll have this as a little quick hit and have a conversation about it. Make sure you guys hit a like for the algorithm, subscribe to the channel and turn on your notifications. That’s what one of America’s biggest companies is doing. As Target reported a slump in sales, the CEO pointing fingers in part at what he called the reaction to the updates we shared on belonging in January. Now that statement is according to CNBC. What the CEO is referring to was translated much more bluntly by one analyst who said, quote, target is struggling after strategic missteps on DEI.
And that is because people across the country have been boycotting the retail giant since March. And this is the man leading the growing effort. It is not because of tariffs. It is not because of the stock market. It is because of the power of black unification and the black dollar, 12 trillion dollars in spending power is not anything that we should laugh at. That’s Pastor Jamal Bryant of Atlanta. And he joins me now. And Pastor Brian, Hold on. Let me address this really quickly. Zeke says, stop capping and address Marquette. Marquette. He’s calling everyone who follows Candace Owens.
Is Mark Marquette. Let me pronounce his name. I apologize. Marquette is the saint, right? Is that correct? Is Mark Marquette the saint? He’s a saint sinner, right? I’m not sure if that’s the person that you he’s a saint. All right, so let me let me address Marquette. Marquette is a very, very nice guy. Marquette is a very intelligent guy. I actually have met Marquette in real life. I ran into him on my way into the win on the win. I was going in the win the win casino in Las Vegas. I think he stays out there in Nevada.
I ran into him in the win casino and I was on my way into the buffet because the win got one of the best buffets. And yeah, I did meet him in Vegas. And he’s cool. He’s cool. I got his phone number. We exchanged information. We said that if it was convenient for him or convenient for me in the future, maybe we would do some stuff in the future. And he’s good. He’s good people. I think he’s a great content creator. I’ve reacted to his content before when he was on the whatever podcast and he was cooking.
He was cooking. I think that he’s a phenomenal, phenomenal content creator. I think he has a lane and a communication style that resonate. I think that he does good work to continue to give people insight on how they need to move as a man. And I think that he’s awesome. I think that he’s awesome. I think he’s very knowledgeable. And I like the content that I’ve seen from him, especially when he was cooking on a whatever podcast. I think he was talking to Adam 22, right? From No Jumper. Very intelligent dude, real cool guy.
Met him in person. He was very cordial. He was very respectful. I was respectful to him. And I think that he’s a good person. So I think that a lot of times when people, again, I don’t pay attention to people that’s trying to beef. I think that a lot of times when people try to pit us against each other, they don’t even know that we’ve already met each other in real life. And so I go by my personal interaction with a person. And I also go by my personal interaction with a person.
And I think that he’s awesome. I think that he’s a good content creator. So that’s my experience with Marquette. Shout out to him. Let’s continue on with the show. Hi, I’m Mark. I’m Mark. And I’m Mark. I’m Mark. I’m Mark. I’m Mark. I’m Mark. I’m glad to have you back. When we first spoke, it was when you were in the very early days of this. And now here we are, the target CEO, saying he’s not satisfied with the recent performance. He attributes it in part to the quote updates they shared on belonging. What’s your response to that? That all of this is avoidable.
Brian is fully aware that the African-American spending dollar has a whole lot of muscle. And his betrayal to our community has a consequence that Stalin’s salary has been slashed all because he’s been dishonorable and not integrous with the black community. So how long do you intend to continue this? Oh, until something shifts. We’ve got staying power. We’ve got a model. The Montgomery bus boycott 70 years ago went 381 days. And our community is resolved and focused and intentional that we’re not going to spend our dollars where we’re not honored and where we’re not appreciated.
For whatever reason, he believes that target stock is directly impacted by whatever is happening with his congregation and the black community. I will tell you that I don’t think anybody cares about that. They said that they was boycotting Walmart. They said that they was doing all of this. And it’s so funny because Target didn’t get rid of any of their black entrepreneurs that have products on their shelves. All Target did was say, we are going to make sure that we’re abiding by the federal mandates and the laws as being implemented, especially since Trump has signed in an executive order to make sure that they’re rocking with people based off of merit versus based off a race.
And diversity, equity and inclusion. And so what Target basically did was say, we are going to continue to put out the products that’s making money and running up a bag that’s on our shelves. That’s it. That is 100%. But black people, especially leaders, and he’s supposed to be a pastor, black people, especially leaders, because I see black people still going to Target. I don’t think that they care. Thank you, Mr. Febreze. I’m going to check that out shortly. Black people are looking for a Target. They are looking for an enemy. It’s almost like, and let me revise it, not even black people, black culture, because everybody don’t abide by the culture.
It’s not all black people, it’s black culture. They are looking for a Target. They are looking for an enemy. I don’t even think that they’re happy unless they experience chaos and turmoil in their own lives. I don’t think that they’re happy at all unless they experience chaos and turmoil in their own lives. And that’s unfortunate because we’re too old to be sitting here hating people, hating organizations, hating any of that. And I think that Jamal Bryant is the leader of a hate organization. And it’s unfortunate because this guy, in my opinion, has been nothing but toxic.
He very much supported Kamala Harris. You want to know who else Jamal Bryant supported? You want to know who Jamal Bryant supported? Fawny Willis. Fawny Willis. Now, let me be clear. Let me be very, very clear. I don’t care whether people shop at Target or if they shop at Walmart or if you shop at the mom and pop store. I have no stock in Target. I don’t care about big box retailers. That’s not what I’m advocating for. I’m not advocating for support for Target. As a matter of fact, I was advocating against support for Target because Target kept on putting out swimsuits and trans stuff that, in the little kids section, if I’m not mistaken, that was around the same time that the beer company, I forgot what beer company that was.
I don’t want to misquote what beer company it is. That was around the same time that the beer company was putting out a trans content creator. It was a butt light. I don’t care about Target, per se. It doesn’t make me any, never mind one way or another. In stock club, I tell people to stay away from retailers anyway. Don’t invest in Target. Don’t do that. What I am saying is people are too old to be so immature to not be able to see through and understand that. It has nothing to do with diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion is a way for us to continue to separate ourselves and basically be biased against each other. If you are good, then you deserve to rock. If you’re not good, you deserve to have your stuff on the shelf. If you don’t, then you don’t. Do what you want to do, but I think that his mentality, his mindset, the reasoning why he’s doing some of the stuff that he’s doing is evil. He is a hateful person. He is a hateful person. I’ve never shot that Target outside of going to get a Dyson vacuum in real life because I didn’t want to order it on Amazon or something.
I like Target. Sometimes they have, if I just walk through there and they got some nice sheets or something or whatever, but I don’t care about Target either way. I think I went in there to go to Starbucks or something. Who cares? You know what I’m saying? Shop at wherever it is that’s meaningful to you. I know a lot of women like to shop at Target, and that’s cool, but the mindset and the reasoning behind why you’re doing whatever you’re doing is your why. Your why is what makes it evil, and I can’t stand people that separate themselves and try to make it seem like that they’re not racist or they’re not biased.
I think that he is. He’s 100%. I never liked Jamal Bryan. I never liked Jamal Bryan at all. So other companies that have scaled back their DEI programs to varying degrees include Lowe’s, McDonald’s, Walmart, Amazon in some respects. So are you looking at expanding this beyond Target? Oh, no, we’re very clear. Over 17 companies have walked away from diversity, equity, and inclusion, but we decided with resolve and intentionality that we were going to do one at a time. Target is the first, it is not the last, and another company is going to be coming on the radar in the next couple of weeks.
In the next couple of weeks, there’ll be another one. All right, so I want to ask you one thing, though, when you talk about the power of the black dollar, and it is just the flip side, right, that you’re showing that power when it comes to Target, but there are black entrepreneurs who are also selling at Target who are negatively impacted by this as well. A new report from the Wall Street Journal, they went through sales of PlayPits, which is black owned. They said sales at Target of that product have fallen about 30% since April.
Beautiful, curly me, also attributing reduced sales to your boycott. So what do you say to those business owners, right? We’re going to say, we’re going to directly, we’re going to tell our people to directly, this is a guess, because I haven’t seen this, I want to tell our people to directly buy from them direct. If you register at this website, then our people can shop at you independently. And who are members of the communities that you are, you know, conducting this boycott on behalf of. No, we’re so mindful of them. That’s why we partnered with the US Black Chamber of Commerce.
Over 250,000 people have signed up at targetfast.org. And when they do so, we send them a digital directory of over 150,000 black businesses across the country. And five mega churches transform their space into mega malls of bullseye black markets. So 100 vendors would go into those respective cities. Let me, let me be very clear, y’all. And again, I think that the, I hope that the stream is still going right. Let me be very clear. And I, and again, I don’t care either way. I’m going to just talk about it from a business perspective. You will never have the infrastructure, the reach, the ability to make up for that 30% drop, which ultimately plays into their pocketbooks.
You will never be able to have that level of an impact as far as you turning your church into a church mall. They want somebody, so a mass distribution network that is basically automated to where people have prime shelf space in real estate within a store and marketed it directly to them. You’re telling me that they’re supposed to make up for that by going to the church flea market. [tr:trw].
