What I loved about that video was the information that you gave me about ways to heal naturally. We talked about castor oil. That’s something that I do. I actually put on castor oil. I’m not recommending any particular brand. And I put that on my knee as a way to actually promote healing. I also love this ancient minerals magnesium bath flakes. That’s something that I love to do. And many of you have told me about that as well as using comfrey, using magnesium, taking collagen, doing grounding products, and others have mentioned doing a patella knee brace.
So what happened is in this video, the name of the video was What is Keeping You Up at Night? And many of you said that you were having difficulty sleeping at night. So that’s going to be the topic for my video is my sleep secrets. And sleep is such an important part of healing. Now the work that we do here at The Healthy American and my lovely Healthy Americans on board, a lot of this really takes its toll, not just on our knees, but on our wellbeing. Oh, you can hear my little Sandy with her toy there.
And spending time with animals is one way that I increase my wellbeing. And I also really desire getting a good night’s sleep. So we’re going to be taking a look at my sleep secrets. And please let me know yours as well. Getting a good night’s sleep helps us feel better, helps us repair these tears and aches and pains and other things that we have going on in our body. And it allows us to continue to defend our way of life, defending truth and freedom. So let’s dive in and I’ll share with you my sleep secrets.
Before we go on, I do want to thank the sponsor of this video. And I’m at myredlight.com. I did a video interview with Jonathan Otto who told us all about the benefits of red light therapy. Imagine he said having the energy of someone half your age, the skin of someone 20 years younger and pain-free mobility you thought was gone forever. That’s what thousands are experiencing with red light therapy. This is not EMF, whether you’re battling chronic fatigue or stubborn weight gain, joint pain, autoimmune flare-ups or thyroid issues, or if you just want to feel years younger, it is clear that just minutes a day with clinical grade red light can boost energy and mental clarity, melt stubborn fat and reduce cellulite, balance thyroid function naturally, calm overactive immune responses, erase wrinkles and fine lines, relieve chronic pain and inflammation, improve sleep and recovery.
So Jonathan explained that the red light therapy works by recharging your cell’s mitochondria. It’s like fueling billions of tiny batteries in your body. And this is especially powerful for thyroid tissue and immune cells, which need massive energy to function at their best. So countless studies show that red light therapy works with incredible benefits. Not all of these devices are created equal. You need medical grade power and all nine healing wavelengths. Plus these devices have the highest irradiance in the space, ensuring maximum power deliverability for deep cellular healing. Again, there are no harmful EMFs.
Most competitor brands don’t offer this, but red light does. And it’s the only brand with the dual shift technology delivering twice the healing power. So if you want to learn more, you can go to my red life.com. I have a link for you in the description box below. You can use my coupon code PEGI10, and that’s going to give you 10% off of your purchase. So there are different packages at different price points. There are payment plans and one device serves the whole family and pays for itself in months. I am actually going to be trying this infrared knee pad, and I will let you know how that goes.
Don’t settle for fatigue, pain, and premature aging. I certainly don’t want to. So reclaim your vitality with red life. Again, that is myredlight.com, and I’ll have a link for you in the description box below. Now, let’s get back to the video. Hey friends, Peggy Hall back with you to add some positive value to your life. And I wanted to shift gears a little bit today and talk about some of the activities that I do to keep my physical self healthy, as well as my mental, emotional, and spiritual. And that is all based on getting a good night’s sleep.
So we’re going to be talking about my own personal sleep ritual. And I want to share with you all of these different things that I use and do, and hopefully this will be of value to you. So in order to have a great day, you need to have a good night’s sleep. Let me know if this is something that you struggle with, whether you struggle falling asleep, or maybe you fall asleep easily, but then you wake up in the middle of the night and you can’t fall back to sleep, or maybe you think you’re getting a good night’s sleep, but you wake up tired and you’re kind of cranky and irritable throughout the rest of the day.
The quality sleep is so important. And there are so many things we can talk about, and I will cover more of these in upcoming broadcasts, but I just wanted to share with you my own personal sleep ritual. So first of all, I do endeavor to get to bed between 11 and 1130. That’s actually early for me. I think I would like if I got into bed around 1030 to 11, but I would say any time before midnight, for me, is a win. Because after midnight, you really lose out on your body’s natural rhythms of the hormones.
And what happens is the sleepy time hormones start to reduce a little bit and the wake up hormones start to kick in, which is why some people call themselves night owls. They’ve actually overridden their body’s natural circadian rhythm. So getting sunlight during the day is also helpful. But here’s what I do to try to get the good night’s sleep. I will take a bath and I will pour in about a cup of Epsom salt. Epsom salt contains magnesium and that relaxes the body and the muscles. And it’s very soothing. I have learned to not take a bath too close to my bedtime because sometimes it can actually energize me or it feels so good.
I don’t want to get out of the tub and get into bed. So if I take a bath a little bit earlier, around 930 or 10, and then I’m out of the tub. Also, I don’t feel that I’m overheated from the hot water by the time I get into bed. All right, so that’s kind of the precursor. Let me share with you what I always have at my nightstand and how this helps me get a good night’s sleep. I always have a glass of water. Now this is something I’ve been doing recently.
And this is a gemstone and there’s all different kinds of gemstones that you can get. This is a glass straw and I’m drinking out of a glass, not plastic. And I always like to have water because I tend to get dry in the middle of the night. So I probably would remove the straw at night just because that could be a little dangerous if I lift it up. I don’t want to get poked in the eye or anything. But this gemstone just charges the water. I don’t know all the ins and outs of it.
I will do another show on this after I research it for you a little bit more. Let me know if you use these kind of gemstones to charge the water. And I really love it and it tastes fantastic. All right, so I always have my water at the nightstand. Now I mentioned that I do get thirsty. So what I like is I use a dry mouth spray. I am not sponsored by any of these. If they would like to sponsor me, that would be great because I do believe in the product.
And this is called Biotene and you can just do a couple of sprays in your mouth. It has a very neutral flavor and it coats your mouth. It’s actually pretty natural. I like to do all natural things, but somehow whatever it does, it keeps your throat and mouth moist. Now in California, it’s a desert. And I’m telling you, there are times of the year where I just feel so dried out and it doesn’t matter how much water I drink. It’s like I can’t get moisturized from the inside out. Might also have to do with, you know, being over 50 or then some.
And this is the other thing that I do. And this is called Xyla Melt. And these actually are really great because they’re just little like lozenges. And what happens is you can put this, what I do is you just take one of these and when it’s moist, you can have it just get stuck under your cheek next to your gum. And then that way it releases this moisturizing ingredient all through the night. And basically it contains Xylitol. And Xylitol, my understanding is that is a natural type of sugar and it just helps keep that throat from getting dry.
So I always have this, I would wake up with a dry throat, sometimes coughing. So between the water and sometimes I’ll do the spray and then I’ll take one of these as I’m going to sleep. And you don’t have to worry about swallowing it because it just adheres either to the roof of your mouth, under your tongue or under your cheek. That’s how I do that. Now, the other thing I do is I use a magnesium cream. I talked about having magnesium in the tub, but if you have any aches and pains, I kind of have an ongoing little, you know, from using the computer mouse and sometimes I’ll get a little crick in the neck from sitting at the computer and I will rub the magnesium cream on that little sore spot.
It’s absorbed through the body. Magnesium is the relaxing chemical or mineral I should say. So it does help you calm down and just feel more comfortable and at ease. So I get the little double whammy and sometimes if I don’t have the Epsom salt or if I, you know, had a shower earlier that day and I’m not taking a bath before bed, this really helps me as well. And I do believe some of it is my own, just the ritual like, okay, I have my magnesium cream, therefore I will sleep better. It’s almost like mind over matter.
Now, some people like to use lavender and I have found lavender to be very soothing as well. I don’t have that on me. You could spray lavender on your pillow. You could have a little lavender sachet under your pillow. Some people will use a little essential oil of lavender on their pulse points or on their feet, on their temples. You can experiment with that. I personally am not using any of the lavender at the moment, but I always found that that was nice as well. So not only does my throat get dry, my eyes get dry.
And I think it’s just one of those things that come along with maturity and being on the earth so many decades. And what I really love are these retain eye drops. And they actually, I like them because they contain, I believe, castor oil. And that’s one of the good things for your eyes. And I also sometimes will just use this Opti-Free. Now, currently I am wearing one contact lens to help improve my vision. And so that eye, I don’t sleep in them, but that eye tends to get a little drier. And these are super expensive.
This box of 30 sterile individual little drops or little containers, actually this probably costs about $30. It’s really expensive. I can’t believe that they’re charging that much because basically it’s like saline and a few drops of oil. Whereas this is like $3. So sometimes I will just use this instead and kind of just drench my eye with it and it feels great in its soothing. So I’m not giving, I’m only letting you know what I do personally. You would want to check with your eye doctor to see if these things are all right for you.
Then I always have lip balm. Let me know if you have a favorite brand of lip balm. This one is called Raw Sugar. It’s completely natural, made in California and it smells great. This one is a raw coconut and mango and it goes on really soft and smooth and I just love it. So I always have this because my lips get dry. I have this because my eyes get dry and I have this because my throat gets dry. Now you’re going to be surprised when I tell you that I wear a mask every night.
Absolutely. I wear a mask and I have been wearing a mask for, I know you’re going to be shocked, at least since 2018. Let me show you my mask. It’s an eye mask. Yes, it’s so astonishing because I don’t like to cover my breathing apparatus, apparatus, the two places that I can breathe, my nose and my mouth, but I do like to cover my eyes with a mask. And this happened back in 2018 when I experienced a completely, it was called a complete detached retina and it was a spontaneous detachment in my left eye.
And I was teaching my water fitness classes and I got out to get dressed in the locker room. And before I knew it, I was losing my vision, immediately made an appointment to go to the doctor. There’s a lot of ins and outs to how it all turned out, but let me just say that my vision was saved, even though I was blind, completely blind for many weeks as I had the procedures. And what I needed to do was to protect my eye while it was healing so that at night I didn’t accidentally rub it.
And of course, at that time we had four cats and a dog, may they all rest in peace. And I didn’t want the cat, they never had bothered me, but I didn’t want the cat accidentally to paw at me or jump or who knows what I was much more vigilant about protecting my eyes. And so after the surgery, I had a rigid plastic protector. And afterwards I decided that I would use an eye pillow. And the beautiful thing about the eye pillow for me is that it blocks out all light. I know that some people have a preference of seeing some light.
They don’t like to be in complete darkness. For me personally, I love the darkness because it helps me not wake up and be like if my husband has to get up or turn on the light or something, I can maintain that darkness. If I’m ever traveling, I’m in a hotel room or some other place where maybe the window coverings are not to my liking, then this is ideal. I have worn it on airplanes and it just gives me that signal to my brain that it’s time to rest. Now, what I love about this one is it has little, can you see from the side, it actually has indentations so that it’s not pressing on my eyes or on my eyelashes.
Actually, of course, I’ve enhanced my eyelashes, but my natural eyelashes are quite long and it would not be comfortable to have my eyelashes pressed against or my eyeballs have the pressure. So I just bought this at like TJ Maxx or Home Goods or something, can probably buy it online. And I do, this one is not, but I do prefer silk because I do prefer natural materials. This is a hundred percent cotton, for example. And there are so many other things we can talk about in terms of your bedroom and the bedding, but I wanted to share with you just all of my items that I include in my nightly sleep ritual.
So share with me in a comment below if you use any of these things, if you have any favorite brands and what is it that I missed in terms of items that I could include. And that concludes my show and tell of my nightly sleep ritual. Let me know if you like this kind of content. I do want to talk more and more about elevating our physical health because that actually does help with our emotional and mental health as well. And I want to live a vibrant, healthy life full of purpose and inspiration and contribution.
And I am so grateful that you’re on board with me as we explore these ideas together. So thank you everybody for being on board. Special shout out to the moderators. I appreciate you for being a part of our positive encouragement community and I’ll see you next week. [tr:trw].
