Do You Remember The Missing Kids On The Milk Cartons In The Early 1980s, Known As The ‘Milk Carton Kids’?

That campaign was used in the guise of getting the word out about missing children in hopes of them being found, right?

However, knowing what we know today, was it really what the missing children’s faces were doing on the milk carton, or was it something more disturbing?

The Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 defines Sex Trafficking as the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, obtaining, patronizing, or soliciting of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act.

Did you even know there was a Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000??

It has been updated many times and the last time being in January 2019 with a hefty contribution from Congress in the amount of $250 million.

I can’t help but wonder where all that money goes or who exactly it helps??

Any ideas?

DID YOU KNOW…

1 Million Children Are Trafficked For Forced Sexual Exploitation Per Year.

The Average Victim Of Human Trafficking Is Raped 6,000 Times.

Every 30 Seconds A Child Is Sold For Sex, Labor, Or Organ Harvesting.

Sex trafficking is a travesty that has been occurring throughout history, finally becoming a political issue in the early 1900s.

The International Agreement For The Suppression Of The White Slave Traffic was created.

This was to protect women and girls from being sold, interstate and internationally, into prostitution – debauchery – or any other immoral purpose.

The purpose was to provide resources to help get them to a safe place.

This Agreement was made in May 1904, endorsed by 12 countries with the United States catching on six years later, passing the Mann Act of 1910.

The Mann Act would now make it a felony to take part in any acts of human trafficking.

By the time 1949 came around and the dilemma of sex trafficking had not decreased, it again became a hot topic which got addressed by the Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others, agreed upon by 49 countries around the world.

The Convention laid out 28 articles on how they will combat and try to prevent human trafficking.

In 1978 and in 1986 the Act was amended by Congress, passing both houses, with the focus on being able to prosecute cases involving child pornography.

SO you mean to tell me, child pron was a known issue in the late 80s?!

Where did we go wrong and how did this issue get so out of control?

I think we may all have an idea when the cover up began, however, we will leave that as an unspoken known piece of information.

Although trafficking advertisements may not look like the above image  today, it IS all HIDDEN in PLAIN SIGHT, with many different people playing many different roles.

Some knowingly, most not.

From the different moving parts, such as the Recruiters to the Transporters to the Solicitors…

Everyone has an obligation to fill.

And always believe, there is a lot of money involved!

Trafficking can appear in many different ways.

With many deep layers.

We will discuss more of these layers in future posts.

For now, let’s understand the difference between Human Smuggling and Human Trafficking.

The biggest difference is when a person is Smuggled, both parties have  mutually consented to the transaction of moving one party illegally over other nations borders.

Human smuggling is a CRIME COMMITTED AGAINST A COUNTRY, NOT AN INDIVIDUAL.

Trafficking victims on the other hand, have no say in the agreements.

They are forced, deceived with fake promises, and intimidated into situations to abuse them through services (massage parlors and spas), commercial sex acts (anything of value given to or received for sexual act), Debt Bondage (debt gets paid down with services), or peonage (involuntary servitude based on real or supposed indebtedness).

Human Trafficking is a CRIME COMMITTED AGAINST AN INDIVIDUAL.

It can begin with a young girl’s boyfriend being a little bit older than her and introducing her to new experiences that she thinks are cool and super grown up.

She may say she’s cool with whatever is presented to her in the beginning, because it’s not usually that bad, but once that consent is given, it’s more than difficult to get it back.

The men and women involved then instill fear into the victim, threatening harm to family or friends, in hopes nothing will ever be said and their secret will stay a secret.

And if it is ever spoken on, it won’t be believable.

In early June, a lawsuit was filed against one of the largest pornography sites online, PornHub and its parent company, MindGeek.

The companies are being sued by 34 women, 14 of them saying they were under the age of 18 when their videos were uploaded online.

If you aren’t familiar with MindGeek, just know they control PornHub and over 100 other pornographic sites with paid subscriptions.

Just on PornHub alone, they net about 130 million users a day.

According to the civil suit, the women have accused PornHub and MindGeek of…

“exploiting them for profit, hosting and promoting graphic videos of rape, revenge porn and even videos that depict child sexual abuse.”

Activist Laila Mickelwait created the crusade called Traffickinghub to gather signatures for the petition to “Shut Down Pornhub”, and now has over 2 million signatures gathered.

Some of the ladies teamed up with Laila, who then testified in front of the House Financial Services Committee in March of this year.

She called PornHub a “mega-sex trafficker” and stated that the site is beset with basically… rape videos.

You can read more about one of the lawsuits filed against PornHub parent company, MindGeek here.

Allegedly, the companies are fully aware that they have facilitated and thrived from a large number of sexual acts brought about by use of abuse.

It is said that when a “questionable” video is taken off of PornHub, it is placed on one of the other websites that offer paid subscriptions to hidden content.

That content usually contains horrifying videos of underage people being abused.

Granted, PornHub has made some changes to their policies, however, not enough is being done to eradicate the problem of human slavery.

We have to disrupt the demand which feeds into the whole trafficking issue.

People who watch pornography have to understand what they are watching.

From the children to the teens to the adults.

They can make people believe that they are freely choosing the sex work life, however, sex work is not work.

It is SLAVERY.

Thank you for sharing this post to help be a voice for the voiceless!
