Well, the last time there was a conversation with Republican leadership was in the White House meeting last Monday. And unfortunately, since that point in time, Republicans, including Donald Trump, have gone radio silent. And what we’ve seen is negotiation through deep fake videos, the House canceling votes, and of course, President Trump spending yesterday on the golf course. That’s not responsible behavior. As Democrats, our view is that we will find bipartisan common ground without Republican colleagues to reopen the government to actually pass a spending bill that meets the needs of the American people. But we have to decisively address this Republican health care crisis that is devastating hardworking American taxpayers.

You know, Democrats are demanding an extension of Obamacare tax credits, which expire at the end of the year, as well as other health care benefits for the funding bill. Here is what the vice president said about that this week. Take a look. It’s a lie told by the Democrats that they’re not trying to give health care benefits to illegal aliens. It’s a lie that is obviously untrue if you just look at the text that they gave us. He says that Democrats are lying. What is your response to that? Well, unfortunately, Republicans are lying because they’re losing in the court of public opinion as it relates to what’s going on right now.

We are standing losing in the court of public opinion. Republicans are on a historic run. I mean, I can’t even think of anything more historic than a run that Republicans are on right now. We are standing up for the health care of hardworking American taxpayers, of working class Americans, of middle class Americans and everyday Americans who have seen over the last several months, Republicans passed their one big ugly bill, largest cut to Medicaid in American history.

Hospitals and nursing homes and community-based health clinics are closing all throughout the country, including in rural America. If Republicans continue to refuse to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, tens of millions of American taxpayers are going to experience dramatically increased premiums, copays and deductibles. And that information from their insurance companies is going out right now. Now, federal law clearly prohibits the expenditure of taxpayer dollars to provide health care to undocumented immigrants, period, full stop. And no Democrat on Capitol Hill is trying to change that law. But later, Jefferies, let me ask you, because as you just mentioned, you are also calling for a complete rollback of the Medicaid cuts, which Republicans just passed.

They say it’s a non-starter. Why include that? Why not just focus on your argument that you want to see those Obamacare tax credits extended, which expire at the end of the year? This Republican health care crisis is all-encompassing, and it has been devastating to the well-being of the American people. We’re talking about people in rural America, working-class America, urban America, small-town America, the heartland of America, and black and brown communities all throughout America. Now, we have made clear that in terms of what’s immediately in front of us, there, of course, is an urgent need to address the Affordable Care Act and the Republicans’ refusal to extend these tax credits.

What we’re talking about here is a dramatic impact on real, everyday Americans, a married couple of two, for instance, that makes $88,000 a year, a modest amount, currently pays about $8,000 a year in their health care insurance. That’s already too much, but if these Affordable Care Act tax credits expire, that same couple will be forced to pay $24,000 a year. It’s unaffordable. Saw a cap. It’s 100% cap. But I’m going to let him continue, and then I’m going to give you my thoughts after he finishes. It will leave them without coverage, and those are the people who we’re fighting for.

But let me ask you, because you say this is a Republican shutdown, but it’s Democratic senators who are withholding their votes on what is called a clean resolution. That means no strings attached, which is something, quite frankly, Leader, that you and other Democrats have advocated for in the past. Take a look. You do not use the threat of shutting down government to try to advance your policy agenda. The first thing that the House has to do is pass a clean six-week CR. A continuing resolution that is at the fiscal year 2023 levels is the only way forward.

Why not fund the government and debate extending Obamacare tax credits after the fact they don’t expire until the end of the year? Because they are hypocrites, and they are doing the exact thing that they blamed other administrations of, and they don’t want to concede. And the reality is this. The main thing that they are standing on, and this is the worst part about it. The main thing that they stand on is illegal health care or health care for illegal migrants. And the biggest culprit of that is California, because they basically finesse in the system, and they continue to get money from the federal government, especially when their hospital visits.

Thousands of people did over 20,000 visits, illegal migrants over to the Denver health care system. And they got reimbursed back from the federal government, which also allows for them to be able to plug budget deficit holes, and California has been finesse in the system for a long time. See, when Donald Trump first talked about draining the swamp a long time ago, and I mean like all the way back in 2016-17. This is the swamp. The swamp isn’t any overt or covert racism or anything like that. Do you know what the swamp is? The swamp is what happens behind closed doors, because the biggest culprits for leveraging loopholes to ensure that them, their buddies, their friends get rich.

They have insider information, and more importantly, they can leverage the finesse in the federal government in order to continue to get rich, which is basically on the backs of all. It’s not just Californians, it’s all taxpayers. We as taxpayers pay for health care coverage for illegals, especially when they visit hospital rooms to get care and do not have the resources to pay for it. How are you gonna pay for it? You’re illegal. We’re subsidizing Medicaid, food stamps. You know who the biggest culprits of food stamp fraud is? Illegal migrants that’s not supposed to be inside of the country.

Everything that we do, that they do, we pay for it. And somebody is getting a kickback. Somebody is plugging budget deficits. Somebody is using that to make sure. Do you know that now that Trump is, because he’s gonna do it system by system, person by person, situation by situation, state by state. See, if they solve for the crime for the illegal migrants inside of Chicago or inside of Los Angeles or inside of California or inside of Denver, then that means that the joyride is over. Now they actually have to balance their budget, pre pandemic COVID era budget.

Now they have to actually lean on a real budget or they had to do what they supposed to do because the devil, the devil is a lie, right? The emperor ain’t got no clothes on. It’s going to force them to have to come clean because all it is lying that they’ve been telling y’all all this time, it’s gonna have to come to a halt. You’re gonna see bankruptcies of cities. You’re gonna see states like California almost completely collapse. You’re gonna see places like New York become even more socialist because they’re holding on to a system that has been oppressing them for a long time.

Illegal migrants was the only other play because as you get older, you never hear somebody say, hey, listen, I switched over from being Republican to being Democrat. Unless they got a boyfriend, unless they boyfriend got a boyfriend. Usually the only people that switch over to being Democrat that was held accountable and was raised to be conservative are people that decide that they want to surf the rainbow. And that’s just the truth. Nobody, nobody in their right mind grow up and say, you know what, I’m switching over from being conservative to liberal is usually the other way around.

98% of the time they’re switching over from being liberal to conservative because they realize that it’s all a lie. It is a reason for it. And so while they sit here and lie to you to your face, you have to ask yourself, are they the real enemy? Is it the people that’s telling you the truth or is it the people that continue to keep the veil over your face? The real system is the colleges that indoctrinate you to be liberal. What we’ve called for is a bipartisan negotiation where Democrats and Republicans can sit down in good faith, reopen the government, pass the spending bill that actually improves the quality of life of the American people in an environment where the cost of living is already too high.

Republicans promise to lower costs on day one. He never answered the question. Why won’t you keep the federal government open? And then like you suggested, like we all know that you’re supposed to do debate on the floor of extending the Obama tax credits in the future before they expire. That is the way that you’re supposed to do it. That’s what you advocated for in your previous speeches. How come you’re not doing it? Day one, costs aren’t going down, they’re going up. And if these Affordable Care Act tax credits are allowed to expire, premiums and health care costs are going to skyrocket.

And America is already too expensive for the American people because of the Trump failed policies, the Trump tariffs, and this will make things worse. So we just want a bipartisan negotiation that addresses that. Let me ask you because the administration has personally targeted you with memes throughout this negotiation. We’ll show a screenshot of one of the videos. This was put out by the president. The president also called the Democrats the party. Yeah, I like the sombrero, but I can’t even I mean, but it just is what it is in all seriousness. They finessing y’all. They’ve been finessing y’all for a long time.

And at some point you’re gonna wake up and I hope that it’s not too late. I hope it’s not by the time that you 50 and you pour and then you want to start having an epiphany. Oh, you know what? I’m really conservative with my thoughts and my views and how I would like my children to be raised. It usually don’t even hit you until you have kids. And if you decide that you don’t want to dress your little boy up in a dress, then you would like for them to marry a girl, right? You would like for them to be a boy because they are biologically male.

You would like for your daughters not to be feminists and not to work themselves into being big backs, but to ultimately leave that to the men. You would like for illegals not to get your tax dollars. You would like clean streets, good businesses, American jobs, strong schools. I’m like all of these are conservative values. None of this stuff is mind blowing. No new wars. For some of y’all it’s gonna be too late by the time that you figure it out. [tr:trw].
