Summary

➡ Guns & Gadgets 2nd Amendment News talks about how the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) has filed a lawsuit against Louisiana’s law that bans non-residents from carrying firearms. The lawsuit argues that this ban infringes on the constitutional right to carry a firearm for self-defense, regardless of residency. The outcome of this case could lead to significant changes in gun laws across the United States, especially in states with similar laws like New York.

Got a cool lawsuit to tell you about today that should have people’s attention because it could be one that leads to something we’re all after. Today we’re diving into a major development in the fight for Second Amendment rights. The Firearms Policy Coalition, our friend’s FPC, they filed a new federal lawsuit challenging Louisiana’s ban on firearm carry for non-residents. The case is called Mate v. Westcott and it could set the stage for some groundbreaking changes. Let’s break it down. The lawsuit argues that restricting firearm carry based on residency is a direct infringement on the constitutional right to carry a firearm in public for self-defense.

Yeah, I agree. Now the complaint states, quote, there is no well-established and representative historical tradition of restricting the ability to bear arms based on residency. 100% factual. And that’s the crux of the argument here. Rights shouldn’t change depending on what state you’re standing in, including the state of Massachusetts where I came to visit right now. They won’t like what I have. FPC President Brandon Combs summed it up perfectly. Peaceable people have a constitutionally protected right to carry firearms throughout the United States, and Second Amendment rights don’t end at a state’s border.

We’ve been saying that for years here on this channel as well. This case is part of FPC’s broader legal strategy to eliminate unconstitutional laws and create what they call a world of maximal liberty. And I would love to live in that world like our forefathers did. So why is Louisiana significant? The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals is well known for being very favorable for gun rights, making this a key battleground. If FPC succeeds, it could pave the way for challenges to similar laws in other states like New York, which has its own restrictive policies currently being contested in the Carl Higbee v.

James case. Here’s the bigger picture, guys. If cases like Mate v. Westcott and Higbee v. James continue to gain traction, we could see a circuit split, meaning different courts in the country issuing opposing rulings. And that’s often what pushes the United States Supreme Court to step in. And if the High Court takes up one of these cases, national reciprocity might not just be a pipe dream anymore. But let’s not forget what this really is all about. It’s ensuring that our constitutional rights are protected everywhere, everywhere. As FPC points out, these restrictions are unconstitutional, right? Their relentless efforts deserve recognition for keeping the fight alive.

Good job on FPC for taking up this lawsuit. I’ll be following this case very closely as it moves through the courts. Like the video as well and share it with your fellow Second Amendment supporters. And remember, liberty doesn’t stop at state lines, regardless of what governors or state legislatures think. If you want to support the groups that are fighting the fights, fighting against the tyrants in court, there are links in the description and the pinned comment below to a few of those that I support as well.

I’ll also link to an article by my buddy, John Petrolino, who did an article on this lawsuit as well. He does great work and y’all should check him out. He’s awesome. Take care, America. I love y’all. Thank you for your support and I hope you have a phenomenal, phenomenal day. Take care. [tr:trw].
