During a press conference, the FBI Houston special agent in charge, Douglas Williams, said, we’ve taken a suspected terrorist off the streets of Houston.

He noted that Said had been on the FBI’s radar. Tell me if you’ve been happy for. Since 2017, due to his frequent consumption of ISIS propaganda online, Said allegedly admitted his intent to use explosives for mass attacks in Houston and even expressed a desire to join the US military to carry out an act of terror from within. He reportedly told an undercover agent that he planned to infiltrate the military and detonate an explosive belt to kill US soldiers. Said said, quote, if I did, it would be very easy. I would shave my beard and hair, put on a military uniform for camouflage and go inside and push the button.

Now authorities also discovered files on Said’s laptop detailing how to manufacture various explosives. The Department of Justice also said, the US citizen created propaganda videos for ISIS recruiting purposes and had a strong distaste for US military personnel who fought overseas against Muslims. Anas Said is charged with one count of attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization to wit ISIS and is currently in federal custody. He faces a maximum of 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
