The 24-year-old Parkland shooting survivor and founder of the anti-gun March for Our Lives group was elected to one of the vice chairs of the Democrat National Committee, the DNC. This means that one of the most vocal, asinine, anti-gun activists in the country now has a seat at the table in shaping the future of the Democrat Party. Now, Hogg took to social media to announce his win, stating, quote, I’ve just been elected as a vice chair of the DNC. I’m deeply grateful to the members for their trust and belief in me, and I don’t take it lightly.

Now it’s time to get to work, end quote. But what does getting to work actually mean? Well, Hogg himself laid it out in a series of posts on X. He said, quote, we have to stop being cowards. It’s time to be bold, aggressive, and to fight, just like we did after Parkland. There isn’t a big fighting bone in this kid’s body. I’ve met him face to face. He’s built like a toothpick with a giant head on top. But he also emphasized the need for the Democrat Party to win back voters, particularly the working class and young people.

Now, let’s be honest. When he says bold and aggressive, we all know what that means when it comes to gun control. This is the same person who spent years pushing for sweeping restrictions on the Second Amendment, calling for bans of popular firearms and demonizing law-abiding gun owners. He’s a big fan of universal background checks, as well as many, many other things. So what does that mean for us, the millions of Americans who stand for our Second Amendment rights? Hogg’s election signals that the Democrat Party is doubling down on its anti-gun agenda. With him in a leadership role, we can expect renewed pushes for so-called assault weapon bans, universal background checks, and possibly even more extreme measures.

It’s no coincidence that this news comes at a time right after the Biden administration used every single trick in the book to restrict firearms, from ATF overreach to backdoor executive orders. Hogg’s influence in the DNC will only add more fuel to that fire. So what can we do? First, we need to stay informed. Make sure you’re following groups that fight for our rights. Gun Owners of America, Second Amendment Foundation, Firearms Policy Coalition, and other strong Second Amendment organizations. Second, get involved. Contact your representatives. Show up at town halls and support pro-gun candidates in your state and local elections.

The time is now for that midterm election in about a year and a half.
