All right. This is not your typical World War 3 update because I just want to shoot the breeze today to be brutally honest. I guess in a parasocial monologue sort of way. I want to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope that you, your family, and your friends are more prosperous in 2025 than they were in 2024 and most certainly you can get there if you just continue to work hard, if you take care of your bodies and your minds and you practice temperance and discipline. There’s no reason why you can’t have a better year than last year.
Remember the 100 to 1 rule. It is 100 times easier to get the calories in a bag of rice while the grid is up than when the grid is down. So Carpe Diem every day in 2025. Before we get into the topic of today’s video, I want to let you guys know that we are having a Boxing Day Sale at CanadianPreparedness.com. 15% off storewide. We only do this twice a year, once during Black Friday and once during Boxing Day. So go and stock up while the getting is good. Now one of these days the lights are going to go off and all of us out there, all 200,000, 300,000 of us who are going to watch this video are going to recline into our own isolated survival stories.
We are going to be the main character and nobody is going to know about our struggles because this wonderful internet, which many of us, including myself, often take for granted, is not going to be there anymore. And I know that I am going to be regretting taking it for granted, despite the fact that I try not to. I’m going to regret not have used my time more efficiently towards the end of doing more to prepare because when the lights go out and the social media servers turn off and don’t come back on, I guarantee you that there’s going to be a lot of people kicking themselves for not have trying to make the most out of what we have here.
And what we have here is the ability to communicate and share alternative and even divergent points of view with one another. But that is something which is under threat. And this became abundantly clear to me last night. Now I don’t want this to be a self-victimizing video. I’m approaching this from a realist point of view. When I say that this channel is most certainly being throttled by the algorithm, I feel increasingly that there’s this boot heel that I’m under with YouTube. And it might seem like a lot to be getting 200 or 300,000 views on every video.
That is sort of the glass ceiling that we’ve been stuck at because our content is not being impressed upon new viewers. And we continuously invest more and more in the content that we create. But it seems like the ROI is less and less and less and less. And again, this could be something to do with the content that we’re making even though on the back end in terms of the analytics. Everything appears to check out. But more important here is it’s not about me. It’s not about this channel per se. It’s about where this whole social media thing is going as we approach that proverbial day X.
Everything in the search results is getting more and more regulated. What pisses me off the most is that when I’m going to search for something, I’m only getting what YouTube or Facebook or Instagram or even X wants me to see. There was a time when I could go on YouTube and I could get all kinds of alternative points of view from people who had almost no subscribers. And that’s what I want. I want the most authentic I don’t care if the person is wrong. I don’t care if I’m going to disagree with every single thing they say.
I don’t care if they’re inarticulate and it’s the first video and it’s a shitty video quality. As long as the audio is good, the audio has to be good or else it’s just insufferable. I don’t care who it is if they got five subs and their last video got 14 views. I long for that sort of authentic content and you can’t find it anymore. You simply cannot find it anymore, especially in Canada where Bill C18 has effectively given the government the power to regulate what comes up in the search results. So anytime you look for information on a current event, for example, it only shows you what CBC, CTV, what these various news agencies want you to see.
And they’ll pepper in a few high ranking influencers who always basically told the narrative and seldom deviate so much that they’re a threat to the establishment for lack of better terms. Sometimes I’m in there. I think though, since last year, late last year, we’ve been kind of spinning our wheels at 1.3 million subs. Now, again, this has made me really appreciate the 200 to 300,000 people who watch this video all the time because I know that this content is not being served up to new people. If it was, then we would easily be at 5 million, 10 million subs a long time ago because our conversion rates are very high because a lot of the content we make is very innovative.
And I can say that in as humble a way as possible that we’re constantly trying to improve our content. So I’m not going to be bashful about it. I’m proud of what we do here. I believe that we’re making some of the highest value content in the prepping space possible. And we’re also bringing alternative analysis that is telling you exactly what I think and perhaps to my own detriment. But it’s becoming increasingly hard to find this type of content on YouTube. And that’s scary. You know what really tipped me off of this is last night, I’m searching for something and I’m using advanced search.
And if you wanted to get real information in days gone by, you had to use the search by upload date feature. If you wanted to get unfiltered results, that was the only way to do it. Now, if you enter your query and you try to search by upload date, sometimes it won’t even give you the option. It will just not give you the option. Have you guys experienced this where you look up something like something in Ukraine and you enter Ukraine war and you try to organize it by upload date and it just gives you the normal search.
Like it refuses to do it. For some, maybe it’s the set of terms that you’re using, but it refuses to allow you to do that. And then there’s other times when you’ll enter a very specific query and it’ll just give you a bunch of unrelated shorts with a bunch of hashtags. And it’s like, is the search function actually getting worse or have they tried to regulate it to such an extent that it’s almost completely useless that you’re almost better off just going to your homepage and waiting to see what the algorithm is going to serve you up.
Your personalized filter bubble algorithm echo chamber that you’re in. It’s getting really, really scary because of course, as we approach that proverbial day X, one has to wonder, are these platforms going to be useful at all? They’re slowly becoming what everybody loathed with mainstream media, which was a very centralized, tightly controlled information distribution system. That is what the big five technopoly has become. Google, Microsoft, X to a degree, X is going to become that as well. People think that because Elon’s there and he’s somebody who champions himself on freedom of speech, but he has an agenda also that’s become abundantly clear.
And when that agenda has run its course, they’re going to start curating their results in the same way. I mean, it’s already happening. So we need to really embrace whatever freedoms we have on this platform while they’re here. And for those of you who watch this channel, each and every video, understand how unique you are in the sense that there are not a lot of new people being shown this content for whatever reason. Perhaps, maybe we’ve just passed our peak. I don’t believe so, because I feel that in 2024, we released some of our best content.
But it could be such that maybe we’ve become the machine too much. And maybe we have to go back to less high production stuff. Maybe that which I’m seeking on YouTube, just Joe Schmo, who decides to turn on his camera one day and share his opinion. Well, I mean, that’s all great, to a certain extent, because I want to hear those points of view. But I also want to get educated, right? I also want information that I can use, because the time is going to come when that’s all that’s going to matter.
Speaking of which, somebody sent me something today in the mail. It was like this computer with a knife. They claim one terabyte of information on it, preparedness and survival information. I’m very concerned about plugging this computer into any sort of internet connection, just knowing how good hackers are nowadays. But it is a great idea if you haven’t done it yet. We’ve done videos on this topic, jeez, at least two or three videos on the importance of storing data. Try to get as much data as you can, put it on a hard drive, wrap it in tinfoil, throw it in an EMP, Faraday cage, and forget about it.
Because the time is going to come when it’s going to become very difficult to find the information. And most people are oblivious to what I’m talking about. Most people don’t realize how manipulated their search results actually are. And even the advanced search features that allowed you to circumvent a lot of this control are no longer functional. They just simply don’t work anymore. And there’s nobody to complain to. And if you try to search about it, then that search is manipulated. Case in point, last night, I was searching YouTube trending favoritism manipulation, because it’s abundantly clear that YouTube regulates who gets put on the trending page.
You only get put on the training page if you get handpicked, selected, manually put there. It’s not the algorithm. It’s an AI that probably finds a basket of content that is then manually selected to be put on YouTube trending. At least that’s how I think it works, because everything on there is always status quo. It’s put there to cater to the sub 25 year olds, because of course, the genius marketing model of YouTube. And this is why they’ve lasted for so long, and they continue to dominate the social media space is baby shark.
That is the reason why baby shark, I think that is the most viewed video on YouTube. YouTube knows that you need to get people as young as possible. As soon as they can walk, before they can walk. That is why children’s videos are the number one videos on this far and away. Okay. And then it kind of just diminishes from there. And they cater primarily to sub 25. And the reason why they do this is simple because they know that old people die. Okay, and old people get tired of the platform. So if you can get people while they’re young, and forget about them after 25, knowing that they’re going to probably stick around for the DIY home improvement, prepping videos, right, then that’s a business model that is going to keep on giving.
That’s why YouTube, they make it their central modus operandi to cater to the young. And that is why you’ll seldom see anybody on YouTube trending that is over the age of 25, because as soon as it is, they’re going to lose the youth. And if you lose the youth, as Facebook is finding out, your platform is going to die. So on the one hand, I can appreciate the marketing genius of YouTube, in this respect, as diabolical as it may be, in terms of their trying to capture the attention of children so that they can mentally shape them in whatever way they see fit.
The ramifications though, for global conflict, the ramifications for knowing what’s going on in the world and having the ability to hear a divergent perspective, that is something that is in jeopardy. And that is why it’s important that if you have a channel who is divergent in their perspective, that you try to support that channel, that you share that channel, that you leave a comment, even you trolls out there, please leave comments. It helps out the channel. I know it’s hard to resist sometimes. And I can’t resist giving people a piece of my mind to knowing full well that it’s only going to help them.
But if it allows me to blow off some steam, I guess, whatever, right? But you got to support those people because finding those people right now, it’s like a diamond in the rough, finding those alternative points of view, you got to go to the seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th page result. And who wants to do that? And they know that. And they know that people are just going to give up and they’re just going to go to their homepage and they’re going to settle on what they are served. Now, in peacetime, that’s perfectly fine.
But as we increasingly move into wartime, that is going to be something which is weaponized. And this is why we need to be very vigilant. I heard it once said that I’m not worried about the internet going out when the lights go out. I’m worried about it staying on. Because if the lights go out, but the internet’s on, then you have to wonder what sort of directives are they going to be giving people? It’s like that movie, Leave the World Behind, where they’re still getting those text messages and they’re getting a bunch of conflicting text messages and there’s no official narrative.
There’s no way to fact check anything. That’s potentially the world that we’re entering, especially with AI. So I’m not sure what we need to do to transcend this glass ceiling that keeps us contained to the 200,000 to 300,000 view mark because we do want to get this message out to more people. And again, this is not to diminish each and every one of those views. In fact, I cherish each and every person who frequents this channel on a daily basis. It is you who make up the foundation of what all this is.
And the more and more people we can get prepared, the less people we’re going to have to deal with when it all hits the fan. And it may seem insignificant that one person on your block starts to put a few things away for a hard time. So they’re part of the solution and not a liability when the shit hits the fan, but it’s going to make a difference. And so support small YouTube channels. I hope this didn’t come off as self victimization because that’s pointless, right? I’m trying to analyze this as a realist.
I’m not being cynical about it. We’re going to keep doing what we’re doing here until it becomes non-economically viable or sustainable to do so. And then if it does, we might have to find a different way in order to present this kind of content to people. Anyways, guys, I wish you the best. It’s you and your family. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. If you want to support the channel, the best way to do that, CanadianPreparedness.com. 15% off, store wide. It’s an automatic discount that’s applied at the checkout. So go and stock up while the getting is good.
It appears as though it’s been relatively quiet out there, perhaps a little bit too quiet. But let’s just enjoy it, okay? Because we know it’s going to get noisy very soon. If there is something practical that you want us to explore in 2025, please leave that in the comment section below. And maybe I’ll just get one of the communists to read the comments if I can’t handle it. Because some days, you know, I just don’t want my day ruined. But anyways, to all of you who are loyal supporters of the channel, even those of you who offer constructive criticism, I do wish you the best.
And if the lights were to go out after this video went out, even you trolls, I hope you make it. Because, you know, I don’t want you to be a liability. I want you to be part of the solution. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year, my friends. Take care, Canadian Preparedness. [tr:trw].
