Hey, it’s Dan. Welcome back to I Allegedly. And I’ve got a good one for you today. Because we all know that AI is gonna be in our lives from now until forever. What’s the bad thing about AI? I was blown away by this one because I’ve rented, you know, I’ve tried to figure out over a hundred cars in my lifetime.

I have a cousin who works for a company and literally travels across the country and is in basically two to three rental cars a week. And I think it’s enterprises who he goes through. But he’s like at such a high level he pulls up and they have the car waiting for him. He doesn’t talk to anybody, grabs the keys and go. Okay, sound convenient, right? Here’s the thing. Hertz just issued a new program that will scan the car for any excessive damage. What they’re finding is completely ridiculous things. Hey, there’s a scratch on the side panel that wasn’t there when you took the car out.

And you’ve got to pay $195 for this scratch. And you’re like, what’s scratch? What are you talking about? Well, yeah, probably road, road debris. And you’re responsible for it because you signed off on it. I am telling you guys, when you rent a car, get the best insurance that you can. Get full coverage. Oh, Dan, my auto insurance, my auto carrier covers my rental car. This is such a scam right now because the damage is non-existent. And I’ll show you the picture of the one woman they wanted to charge $195 to.

And they said, listen, if you don’t appeal this, we will lower the price to $65. What a scam. What an absolute shakedown. What an absolute, you know, complete ripoff right now. So what you’re going to see is this happen more and more and more. And there’s a woman that rented from a place called 6th S-I-X-T car rental out of Fort Lauderdale. She goes to 6th, turns the car in 24 hours later. Hey, our AI picked up that there was a scratch in the rear panel and you owe us $565. She’s like, what are you talking about? Scratch the car.

I barely drove the car. No, no, no, no. They also have an administrative fee. We used to stuff something called car gate. Car gate, which just sounds ominously horrible. Car gate will go through the car and will tell you what the damage is. Now, I recently rented a, you know, truck for a buddy that was moving. So here’s a U-Haul truck, okay? And I mean, talking about the most nonchalant thing. They had a paper, you know, inspection form that showed the truck and they go, yeah, we know that scratch is here.

We know the one that’s on this side of the car. But walk around the car and see if you notice anything. Should I be concerned about this? Nah, it’s a truck. We don’t care about stuff like that. But scuff marks, people driving it over, you know, curbs and stuff like that. They didn’t care about stuff like that. We brought the car back. How was it? Uneventful? No big deal. Thank you. Put the gas where you’re told to put it, which is an absolute scam. Here in California, if you have, you know, they’ll charge you so much a mile, over a dollar a mile to rent these trucks.

And if you don’t bring the gas exactly where you found it, they will charge you $8.50 a gallon to refill it. Criminality live. Live, live, live. So here is the thing about this. I am telling you this right now, guys. This is going to be used in a very negative way. And I think Hertz, who is not doing well right now, Hertz can sit there and I could have the CEO of the company right now and he can tell me how great they’re doing. No, you guys are, it’s, it’s killing it right now.

They are dying right now because people aren’t not running the cars. But what are we going to do? Let’s squeeze every dollar we can out of people and let’s charge them for things like scratches on the car. I’m telling you guys, drive your car down the street. You see these motor heads that have, you know, really expensive cars and they drive them pristinely and they go over, you know, they turn into a complex really slow. I mean, you’re still gonna get wear and tear on a car. And for people to get charged for things like, hey, there’s excessive tire damage.

I borrowed the thing for a day. Kind of drove it, yeah, I think I drove it through some dirt and some mud over there. Well, you’re gonna pay for that. Think about how ridiculous this is. So what’s going to happen is you’re going to have people get charged for things like cleaning the car and this is just the beginning of this. But this is going to be used in a very, very nefarious, negative way because these car companies are a den of thieves and what it’s going to do is it’s going to make you not want to ever rent a car again.

So how about this? I will rent a car, we’re going to do that inspection, that AI inspection right now before I drive the thing off the door. Oh, we don’t do that, sir. It’s done at the end. We know the damage in the car, we’ve already got it documented. Show it to me. That’s what you should ask for. Ask for that AI inspection before you rent the car. But here’s the thing, who’s got the time for this? Remember OJ Simpson running through the airport with Hertz and how great they were and how, you know, if you’re trying to get away from committing a heinous crime, you can run through the airport, you know what I mean? So anyways, what’s wrong with this is everything.

Absolutely everything, guys. So I love AI. AI is great. AI is great for research. AI is great for helping you get information, creating videos. But man, it’s, it’s crazy because this is where it’s going to be used against us. And what else? What else is there, guys? You know, you’re gonna have AI home inspections. I have a friend who is an ex-military guy who runs a inspection company and they do something that’s completely different where you’ve got the home inspector inside the house and you go basically live inside the house and all the data is put in there.

When that guy walks out the front door, you have your inspection. You know exactly what’s wrong with the house, but it’s the most detailed inspection I’ve ever seen. And you know what they use? They use AI for it. So it’s to find what’s wrong with the sewer pipes. What’s wrong with that gate? Hey, the gate closer. And it gets pretty technical on this stuff, but I think that’s kind of a good thing. If you’re buying a piece of property, you want to know what’s wrong with it and you want to have somebody tell you what’s wrong with it in advance.

You don’t want to wait two or three days for that inspection report and you can get it right now. But, Hertz, this is criminal, what they’re doing. Absolutely criminal. And everything is a negotiation now. How about this? Hey, listen, it’s $565, but if you don’t dispute it, if you admit that this was done, we’ll lower the price to $240. No, buy, sue me. Don’t charge my card. I’ll block it. I will stop this. The problem is when you rent these cars, they’ll ban you from renting cars there, they’ve said, if you don’t pay these fees.

Okay, so what’s fair? That’s not fair, guys. Let me know what you think so far, but have you experienced this? Have you experienced AI in the negative right now? Because that’s what this is. You don’t want to rent a car if they’re going to do this stuff to you. Okay, I knew a rental car company that used to have a computer program put in the car. And I talked about this two and a half or three years ago, where if you drove the car and sped and went 25 miles an hour over the speed limit, it would issue you a ticket for $85.

One couple who was on their honeymoon got to the hotel and had no money, no money in their checking account because da-ding, da-ding, da-ding, they got charged because what were they racing to do? Huh? Yeah, okay. Well, we won’t have any of that. So it’s terrible, man. Absolutely terrible. You hear about these bad things. I covered that company a year ago that was taking out the airbags out of cars and a young girl died. That was horrible. But again, you know, AI gonna pick fix that too? This is too much.

And when it comes to gambling, especially Las Vegas, the Indian casinos, what else? You know Atlantic City, places like that. When you get a jackpot or a win over $1,200 they give you a 1099 for that. And before the big beautiful bill was signed, if you had losses, let’s say you went to Las Vegas and you got $10,000 worth of transactions but you know 1099 sent to you, given to you.

But you put $12,000 in the machines or gambled. You then had a $2,000 loss that you could write off. Well in the big beautiful bill, they changed it to where it’s only 90% of your losses. Now here’s the wild thing about this. Let’s say you’re a professional gambler and this person goes out and gambles, you know, they win $100,000 throughout the year but they’ve basically spent half a million dollars to do that to be, you know, positive $100,000. That $400,000 difference, they would get taxed at 90% of that. So 10% of that, 40 grand, they would have to pay in taxes as taxable income.

It’s going to kill Las Vegas. And how Las Vegas has not lost their mind yet about this, I don’t know. Now, there is a congresswoman, Dina Titus in Vegas, in Nevada, who says, wait, I’m going to fix this. We’re going to have to get this overturned right away because it starts and goes into effect in January of 2026. But it’s going to kill gambling guys. Vegas is having a difficult time as it is. People are not gambling and spending the money that they did before. And this would just ruin it.

And you can sit there and say it’s no big deal. But I know a guy who won almost $150,000 on a slot machine. But he gambles all the time, okay? And wrote me about it and, you know, sent me a picture and stuff. And but that guy, think about it, he’d be paying taxes on that. Plus, he’d only get 90% of his losses, which again, if you’re a professional gambler, these poker players and people like that, they’re done guys. It’s going to kill Las Vegas. Why would you ever want to gamble again? Now, the next thing sent by Dr.

Marvin with some great stories about how bad it is for seniors that own property. You know, think about this. If you are smart enough to buy a home and pay it down and be diligent, okay? My late girlfriend’s parents paid their house off. Now, they spent like $25,000 in their house way back when when she was a child. But they eventually paid it off and owned that place free and clear. If you’re old enough to do that, imagine not being able to get homeowners insurance for your house. This is what’s killing people.

In Florida, it is such a problem right now that people cannot afford the insurance that you went from $1,100 a year to $8,000 a year. You’re having more and more situations like that. And as municipalities and as counties charge people more and more for their property taxes, it is getting crazy, guys. Absolutely nuts that people are doing this. Now, the greatest thing that I heard in the big beautiful bill was that was rumored. It didn’t take effect was no property taxes for somebody 65 and over. That would be insane.

But again, as you get closer to ages like that, that would that’s what you’d want to have. You’d want to have no property tax. But like Dr. Marvin said, read the story below, more and more people are finding themselves that they have X amount of dollars extra a month. And oh, by the way, Dan, you’re gonna need another $700 a month just to have your your homeowners insurance or your renters insurance. People cannot get renters insurance. So you can sit there and say, big deal. I don’t have renters insurance. There are so many complex, especially here in California, where landlords insist on it.

And you better have that renters policy or guess what? You don’t live here. So they’re giving people eviction notices. I posted a house with my friend Doug that the woman owed less than $10,000 on a house in Orange, California, and could not get homeowners insurance. And they were foreclosing on that house. Horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible that that happens. And you can sit there and say, Oh, that’s so rare, Dan. It’s so ridiculous. You do this. No, it’s not. It is absolutely not. So I know a guy sent me a letter about this that when he went and bought a home, they said, Hey, hi, we’re with the inspection company.

We want to come photograph the house. Who are you? Well, we work with so and so insurance. He said, Okay, well, who’s coming out to my house? I can’t tell you that. But you’re gonna take pictures of the inside of my home. And I have to set up a calendly program for this. In other words, this is when they’re available to come out to my house and take pictures. No way. So the guy was like, I’m not doing this to call the insurance company and have my agent come take the photos.

Well, no, we use a third party company. And this is what we do. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Not going to do that. Okay. And again, would could I go through your house and just take pictures? Or better yet, let me just say someone’s going to swing by and you don’t get to find out who it is. It’s insane, guys. It’s insane. But again, we live in such a time right now that AI is determining all this stuff. You have so many AI problems with cars. I am telling you this right now.

You’re going to have AI inspect your car for auto insurance. So it’s going to be a matter of time that they’re going to go through and they’re going to look at your car. And you’re going to have to have an AI robot check out the vehicle before it gets insurance. Okay, oh, you want to renew your insurance, Dan? Let’s have, you know, you know, the gate come, new gate come out and look at that. It’s ridiculous. Okay, let me know what you think about this so far. But again, do you want a stranger going through your house? No, nobody does.

But these AI programs have lost it. And a lot of there’s a lot of good with research, a lot of good things with getting your website done. I’m telling you, it’s putting people out of business. Every single day, more and more people are losing their jobs for this, which is good. But you get a criminal, you know, thought with people, how can we rip people off and charge them more? Oh, I know we’ll inspect their car and see that there’s micro scratches, micro scratches. Hello. Okay, where’d you drive the car on the highway? Oh, my God.

Yeah, that’s going to cost you, Dan. But listen, if you agree not to fight this, we will, we’ll only charge you this much, we can lower it. There’s no negotiating. You know what I mean? So what they issued was a thing called a poison pill.

And this is fast and if you are a shareholder of Jack in the Box, this is incredible news. If Sartre Big Larry goes out and acquires 12 and a half percent of the stock, you can buy as much of the stock as you’d like at a 50% discount. Hello, hello. What that’ll do is it will it will definitely make this guy rethink taking the company over without having a deal worked out in advance. So again, Jack in the Box has got Jack, you know, they do those stupid commercials with Jack with his head on.
