Most recently Oregon, they’re removing 800,000 names after Judicial Watch litigation because they hadn’t cleaned up their rolls in well over a decade. We’ve got a lawsuit ongoing in Illinois. So it can be done. 6 million names is an enormous number, but when you look at the numbers it looks like there are 24 dirty names that need to be removed. So we’ve got a lot more heavy lifting to go to ensure that our election lists are clean because I don’t need to tell you, if you’re a leftist maybe I need to tell you this too if you care, dirty election rolls can mean dirty elections and that’s why they’re supposed to be cleaned up under federal law.

So those are big issues and for the first time in some time Congress wants to actually do something substantial about election integrity with this so-called SAVE Act which would, as written currently, ensure voter ID is required in all federal elections and citizenship verification is required to register to vote and vote. The left doesn’t want that to happen because I think the left wants to be able to steal elections when necessary and voter ID and citizenship verification get in the way of that. But most Americans, I mean by way of 80 to 90 percent of Americans agree, yeah we need voter ID, yes we need citizenship verification.

The challenge is it’s past the House, there’s a majority support currently in the Senate but under the current way the Senate conducts business, basically the minority party can say I want to filibuster this and they try to overcome it once or twice and then it’s shut down and the legislation dies. That is unless they take a different approach allowed under the current rules which is to basically have a real filibuster. I know it’s sometimes called a talking filibuster which to many people may be confusing. To me it’s just a real filibuster.

You’ve all seen, I shouldn’t say you’ve all seen but you should watch if you hadn’t because it’s a great movie generally. Mr. Smith goes to Washington where he famously in the movie he does a talking filibuster, a real filibuster. And so what happens is what the theory would be is that Senator Thune is the majority leader for the Republicans, would require the Democrats to be on the floor to engage in the filibuster if they want to stop voter ID and citizenship verification for being considered for an up or down vote by the Senate.

Remember a filibuster doesn’t kill a Senate, does not kill a bill, meaning it loses on the merits. It means it just never gets a vote. And in order to do so you still have your right to filibuster but you’ve got to work for it. Now the establishment Republican response and Senator Thune’s response is it’s too hard. It’s too hard to maintain a talking filibuster or because for all the pressure on the Democrats to ensure that they’ve got someone on the floor arguing, Republicans have to be there in large enough numbers to keep the filibuster or that process going otherwise they get a break and it could start all over again.

And the other concern is supposedly well all sorts of amendments could be brought and they’d have to have some tough votes which to me is just nonsense reason not to do it because it’s simply not a serious excuse. So in the end it’s a political question. Do Republicans and conservatives in the Senate want to require a long filibuster where someone has to get a talk and talk and talk for days and potentially weeks in order to stop voter ID and citizenship verification for being the law of the man or are they going to require only a kind of a fake filibuster? The equivalent of well we don’t want this bill to pass because you need 60 votes and just because we’re saying it it’s true and that’s the end of it and you do the one vote and there’s no more.

So you can guess what I think and I’m not going to tell you what to think but if you are concerned about this issue you really need to call your Senate your senators. I call them at 202-224-3121 that’s 202-224-3121 Senator Thune is supposedly going to bring the SAVE Act to the floor in the coming days so it’s important you call. I’m not sure if he’s committing to a talking filibuster he may have like a pretend talking filibuster based on my reading of the tea lease but the pressure is significant they don’t want there’s a core group of Republicans who don’t want to do this hard work and it may not succeed it may not succeed I’m not saying the talking filibuster means the bills going to pass it means that we take the issue of voter fraud seriously enough to ensure that voter ID is going to be required and citizenship verification is going to be required the core civil rights issue you don’t want votes stolen and ruined by fraudulent voting right and we take that issue seriously enough that we’re going to make the Senate truly and deeply debated and we’ll see what happens I don’t know what the outcome is going to be but I do know what the outcome is going to be if the standard filibuster rules are followed it’s not going to go anywhere it’s not going to go anywhere so if you want an up-or-down vote on the SAVE Act you need to call your senators because the best way to get to that in my view is the talking filibuster is the regular filibuster is it guarantee that result of course not nothing’s guaranteed but if you want to have the Senate pretend to consider it say they fought and if you’re going to believe that you’re I can’t there’s no helping you because the current process of the filibuster is going to guarantee a loss so something different has to happen and a real filibuster is that thanks for watching don’t forget to hit that subscribe button and like our video down below
