Catherine Cortez Masto from Nevada is the second one. And Angus King, he’s an independent from Maine, but he caucuses with the Democrats. But they all three have defected. So you’ve got these three Democrat defectors in the Senate. At the same time in the House, you’ve got Representative Jared Golden publicly accusing his own party of giving him to the far left. So he’s blaming this entire shutdown on the radical progressive wing of his party. You’ve got vulnerable senators in swing states like John Ossoff from Georgia. We’re starting to get very, very nervous. Maggie Hassan, Jean Shaheen, both in New Hampshire, Gary Peters of Michigan.

They’re all getting super targeted by the GOP as they’re seen as weak and particularly vulnerable for the midterms. Now, it’s getting really, really bad for the Democrats while they’re blocking funding the federal government until they get their $1.5 trillion spending that’ll go in part to funding illegal migrants’ health care. While that’s happening, Trump has basically turned off the faucet, as it were. So he’s frozen tens of billions of dollars of blue state funding. So we’re talking 2.1 billion in Chicago transit projects, another 18 billion in New York infrastructure funds. They’ve been frozen. You can add another 8 billion in green energy projects for blue states.

That’s been frozen. And so we’re looking at upwards of about $30 billion in suspended projects in blue states across the country, all because Democrats are dumbling down on funding the health care for illegals. Already, as we speak, President Trump has successfully removed upwards of 300,000 federal workers this year alone. That is the largest federal workforce reduction since World War II. It adds up to basically one in every nine federal employees. In fact, Democrats inadvertently triggered what experts are calling the largest mass resignation in U.S. history is 100,000 federal employees formally quit as of September 30th. And again, all because the Democrats insist on removing the provision in the big, beautiful bill that explicitly forbids a dime of Medicare and Medicaid going to illegals.

Instead, the Democrats want to establish precedents that effectively declare immigration status irrelevant for federal benefit eligibility. And that’s key. While current federal law technically prohibits direct payments to illegal migrants, the Democrat proposal would fund federal health care programs that would apply regardless of one’s immigration status. So they’re trying to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. And obviously, it is clearly not working. And we knew from day one that it would not work. And the reason for that is very, very simple. The key to understanding why the Democrats are guaranteed to lose this is that this is a shutdown like no other.

So generally speaking, right, with all other historical shutdowns, you’ve got to tug a war between two sides, right? So you had Gingrich versus Clinton or you had Boehner versus Obama. You had two sides. And both sides were holding out with their own demands. So the Democrats generally held out for certain spending increases like they’re doing exactly right now, 1.5 trillion. Republicans generally held out for spending cuts. That was certainly the case with the Clinton-Gingrich shutdown. But the key here is that past shutdowns were showdowns. Each side was holding out with a list of their own demands, and eventually one side ended up caving.

They buckled under the political pressure, as it were. What makes this shutdown so unique is that there’s only one side that’s holding out. That’s absolutely essential to get in terms of the disproportionate calculus. There is only one side making demands. The other side’s already got everything it wants by virtue of the Democrats holding out. This is exactly what Mike Johnson said in the very first hour of the shutdown. You Democrats don’t seem to realize you have just handed President Trump the keys to the kingdom. The Anti-Deficiency Act of 1884 is the primary law that grants the Office of Management and Budget, the OMB, extraordinary managerial power during government shutdowns.

The authority to run the day-to-day affairs in D.C. transfers from the legislative branch to the executive branch in the case of a shutdown. So now Trump and OMB Director Russell Vote are basically free to do whatever they want. The Democrats have literally just handed the executive branch virtually unlimited power to fire and eliminate and dismantle federal government programs and departments as Trump and Vote see fit. And so the irony here is that they’re freaking out about Trump becoming an authoritarian, but then they turn around and in effect voluntarily gift him with that very authority.

They spent a year campaigning against Russ Vote in Project 2025, and now they’re triggering the very Project 2025 blueprint that they so vigorously campaigned against. Only one side is holding out for what it wants, all the while they give the other side precisely what it wants as long as they hold out. So there’s absolutely no incentive in the world for Trump or the Republicans to cave to the Democrats, since the Democrats have already given the Republicans basically everything they want while they hold out for what they want. It’s insane. The Republicans through Trump and Vote basically run D.C.

as long as the Democrats keep the government shut down. So why on earth would Trump give up power and advantage like that? He now has the capacity to enact lasting change in D.C. for literally generations to come, and that’s exactly what he’s doing every single day. So we knew from day one, from hour one, that this power disparity was going to be a disaster for the Democrats and that they inevitably would be the ones who would cave. This was going to completely blow up in their faces. So Senate Majority Leader John Thune is holding repeated votes to chip away each and every day at remaining Democrat unity with five more Democrat defections needed to end the shutdown.

Each vote exposes more cracks in their coalition. All as Trump and Vote continue to daily dismantle the administrative state, fire more federal workers. It’s an absolutely no-win situation. So obviously keep a very close eye on how things develop here, but right now there is no question. Three Democrats have already broken ranks. One House member is publicly revolting against his leadership, blaming his party for the shutdown. And five more senators face mounting pressure to defect each and every day. Democrats aren’t just losing the shutdown. They’re permanently damaging their coalition while Trump achieves concrete victories for generations. This is not governance.
