And in fact, they had to issue certain, you know, rules about the shutdown. But now they were in bankruptcy, just got out of bankruptcy. They got billions of dollars in loans, guys, to get themselves out of bankruptcy. In September of last year, finally got out of bankruptcy. Didn’t make it six months. Matt Schroeder, the CEO, says, listen, the company’s been hurting long before the Trump administration, but it’s done. So do thanks. You know, if you have a gift card, they’re no good after June 6th. And you’re not getting points as of two days ago when you purchase anything.

So that’s done. The problem with these stores is they have been an absolute S show for the last few six months, because it’s just, you know, less and less merchandise in the aisle, you know, taking… Look at this, look at the shelves. Just a mess, okay? An absolute mess. Now, you can see scattering, you know, the Gatorades. Guys, I’m doing this blind and live and, you know, so. You have Waters, two for seven, all that stuff. You know, the seasonal merchandise is just a smattering of what it used to be. But done. This is done.

Now, blame whoever you want. It’s the new administration. Okay, okay. People aren’t buying things in drug stores right now? I guess not. Now, this place had hundreds. I mean, they anticipate that there’s still well over 1,000 individual lawsuits because of the opioid shenanigans that they were responsible for. That’s horrible, guys. These people will probably never see Dollar One because they’re closing all these stores. This store chain, at its peak, had 4,500 stores. Twiddle down, twiddle down, twiddle down. So $1,240 is what it has right now. And they’re all closing. Now, the wild thing about this right now is that the biggest state is here in California.

We still have 347 stores. Pennsylvania, 345. And, you know, New York’s got 178, 95 in Washington State. But it’s just down to nothing, guys. And then there’s four stores in Ohio and four in Massachusetts. So it’s funny, my son lives in Massachusetts now. I was telling him, he’s like, right? It’s still open. You’re going there. Yeah. So this is the sign of the times, guys. Everything is off right now. Nobody’s doing well. Nothing is good right now. And the problem with this is that you can sit there and say, oh, it’s tariff’s fault. That’s nonsense, guys.

You think there’s nobody in here shopping, guys. They got me filming. That’s it. They’re not even paying for the music to be pumped in. How about that? Isn’t that wild? So people have talked about these stores, and I’ve seen a bunch of stuff written online about how it’s just dwindling down and they don’t restock the stores, and that’s what you’re seeing. So bankruptcy just gets announced, but this is the bad thing. Now, in addition to that, you’ve just had restaurant brands that just announced all their same-store sales. Burger King, Popeyes Chicken, and Tim Hortons.

I had to look up what Tim Hortons was because it’s a Canadian company. I’ve never been there. But Tim Hortons is their same-store sales. Burger King, everybody’s off. Now, that’s the thing. When you have a retail establishment, whether it’s Home Depot here, drugstores, or you’re selling fast food, the same-store sales is everything. And if you drop a percentage point or two, that’s massive numbers. Burger King is off tremendously, almost 4%. Pharmacy, here is where healthcare is completely broken right now. They’ve got to drive through pharmacy right here. If you have your prescriptions at Rite Aid, they’ve just notified.

They’re not going to notify you. They’re just transferring it. They’re going to take that asset of your name and your personal information and all your data and sell it to either CVS or Walgreens. Now, how do you like that? Now, think about it. You may hate CVS. You may hate Walgreens, but you don’t have a choice. They’re just going to unload it, and that’s going to be that. All we’ve talked about lately is the data breaches and all the different problems with this. But healthcare is broken in the United States right now, and healthcare is a real problem, and this is a perfect example of it, where they’re going to take your prescriptions and sell them to CVS or Walgreens.

God, look at this place. Yeah, just an absolute joke. So, just announced the bankruptcy. Just happened. See, it’s funny. They still have merchandise. That’s for other things, but they’ve got, like, the squishy’s not $40, guys. They just put something there to make the shelves not look completely bare. So, not wild. So, just nuts, guys. Just nuts. But the big problem that you have right now is everything is off. It’s not a fast food place doing well. There’s not a coffee shop doing well. Denny’s closing out 150 stores, and, again, how do we entice our customers back? You don’t right now.

They don’t have money. I had dinner last night with my buddy who runs the cruise company, and he’s got two sets of clients. He’s got the high-end, wealthy, buying suites, going to Australia for 12 days, the Mediterranean, all these different places, but not buying, oh, we just want the little cabin. No, they want the best of everything. He’s got those people, and then he’s got the broke people that are like, God, I’ve got to get away. Do you have a $350 cruise? Yeah, we’ve got the carnival, and you can go fight with everybody else.

Awesome. Let’s go do that. That’s what he’s selling right now. There’s no mid-level. There’s nothing like that. Guys, check it out. See how they just make the soap and everything look like it’s all, you know, steel wool. Look at that. Steel wool. And, again, place would be barren if they didn’t do this. If they stacked things the way that they normally do it, you’d have empty shelves. So, Mr. Schroeder just said that we could not compete in the problem with all the lawsuits, and these guys wrote thousands of prescriptions, had warnings, had whistleblower step forward about the opioid shenanigans that they did, and they did not do anything to combat that.

They just did it, and now they’re paying the price for this. In an article, a video I did about six, eight months ago when they were about to emerge from bankruptcy, I said these guys were in trouble for writing prescriptions, and people were like, how does a business get in trouble for what it’s supposed to do? It was never supposed to write illegal prescriptions. It was not supposed to write, you know, oh, your back hurts? Let me give you this. It was never supposed to do that, and that’s what this place did.

But, again, if you have anything here, pull it. Pull it, pull it, pull it. I’ve had a lot of people write me about 23andMe, how they got their data removed from 23andMe because of what they’re doing. Look at this place, guys. There’s the worst part. It’s not even on sale yet. It’s just that we’re closing, okay? So that’s that, okay? Let me know what you think. There’s more to cover on this. A friend of mine got me into it a few days ago, and I heard everything there is to know about the closure, and she had said they don’t have a firm date on everything in California, but here is the human toll that is the worst part about this with a company like this closing down, and that is she’s been with the company over 30 years, and she is 14 months away from her retirement and getting a lifetime of health insurance for the company. What happens with that? Seriously, you know it’s done.

I know it’s done, but think about this. This woman worked at a store for over 30 years. She saw chains of ownership. She saw everything, gave her life to that company, and now they have nothing, so that’s terrible. That’s the worst part about this, that nobody sits there and thinks about, wow, who’s going to rent those vacant buildings? Who cares? How about that woman who’s given her life to that company who’s going to get nothing? That’s the worst part. You can’t start over again. So, God, that is tragic. I want to cry over that.

It’s so sad. So, Dr. Marvin sent me something about store closures and businesses, and the timing could not have been better because what people don’t realize is, yes, a deal was made with the UK. That’s fantastic. Think about this, guys. They’re going to be able to make Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, and Jaguars, and have a 10% tariff. That’s the deal that was worked out. Do you care about that? Are any of you sitting there in the market for a Bentley? Okay? No, you’re not. How about a Rolls-Royce, those custom-built cars? No, Danny, you lost me there, too.

How about a Jag? Okay? No. I’m going to pass on that, too. So, with that, it doesn’t affect the common folk. We want prices to go down faster than they are. Yes, some things are going down, but are they fast enough? They’re not fast enough for that woman to keep her frickin’ job at Rite Aid. So, that is terrible, guys, because as you sit there and as we get older, how much gas do you have left in the tank? How much of an effort can you do to go out and make more money? Now, yeah, she could buy a lottery ticket tomorrow and win the lottery, but no, it’s not going to happen.

So, Dr. Marvin sent me this great article about how it takes 45 to 60 days to get tanker ships from China to here. And the problem with this is that they’re not shipping stuff right now. So, you’re going to see empty shelves very soon. You’re going to see this thing completely collapse and shut down. And what’s going to go down next? Who knows? And here’s the thing. Do you really need a new pair of shoes? Do you really need a new shirt? Do you really need to go to Macy’s right now? That’s the question that the average person is asking themselves right now, because, ah, you know what? I don’t need to do that.

You’re right, Dan. I’m just going to wait. You know, last year’s bathing suit, I look good in that. I’m going to wear that thing. No one’s going to know. And they’re not going to know. But you’re not going to spur commerce. You’re not going to go out there and buy gas to go there, and then go get yourself, you know, a whopper. You know, I hate Burger King so much because it’s microwaved crap. Unless you order something custom made, you know, they reheat things all the time. And, you know, I always, people have, every time I say this, people write me and say, you’ve got to order everything special and custom order.

Then the meal’s fresh. No, pass. I don’t want to hear that. So this is what’s wrong with everything. You know, you’re going to see more and more closures right now affect everybody. And I’m just so upset about this. You know, Toyota’s talking about how the tariff is going to hit them by at least $1.3 billion in loss of profit this year. So they’re going to make up for some other way. And, you know, the layoffs that you’re going to see from this place, and think about this, this woman snuck into the manager’s meeting and was there, was online, and she got to see that and doesn’t have the answers yet.

But here’s the one thing is, in California, because of our warn laws, you know, the warn, the employees, our laws are so strict that they’ve got to, guaranteed she’s got 45 days worth of pay, full-time pay. So thank God for that. But other than that, people are going to get screwed. People are going to get totally taken advantage of, and we don’t know. So, you know, this is not just some drugstore going out of business. The human factor is there. And that’s what nobody wants to look at. That’s what nobody wants to look at.
