And, you know, one of the things I’m going to advise Donald Trump to do in order to correct the chronic disease epidemic is to ban pharmaceutical advertising on TV. There’s only two countries in the world that allow pharmaceutical advertising on the airwaves. One of them is New Zealand and the other is us, and we have the highest disease rate and we buy more drugs and they’re more expensive than anywhere in the world. Hey gang, it’s me, Dr. Steve. So, as many of you know, the world we’re living in right now is facing an alarming health crisis.

The ugly truth here is that people in the United States are taking more prescription drugs than citizens in virtually any other nation, and yet, guess what? We rank a horrific, dare I say, deplorable 79th in terms of health outcomes. I mean, it’s outrageous that we as a so-called advanced society are actually falling behind developing countries when it comes to our health. It turns out this crisis is largely fueled by intoxicating advertisements that bombard our media screens daily, inducing us to seek out these harmful drugs at the expense of our well-being.

But who’s really behind this devastating reality? Well, as we all saw with the recent Bobby Kennedy confirmation hearings, it really is none other than the pharmaceutical companies, Big Pharma. These giants make billions by encouraging us to medicate ourselves instead of focusing on real solutions for our health. They frankly thrive on keeping us sick and weak. Their ads flood our television screens, generating a false sense of safety, but in reality, they’re generating a dependency with every pill. And don’t expect them to admit that they’re the cause of our deteriorating health. Their priorities lie with profit, not people.

So what’s the result of this onslaught of prescriptions? Bottom line, the result is a catastrophic increase in drug dependency, all the while our overall health plummets. This is the world made sick by corporations that prioritize profits over people. Well, Dr. Ashley Lucas is here with us to help us uncover insights into how we can resist this drug-laden culture and become truly healthy. Yes, Dr. Turley, the same. Great to see you. Yeah. So the world, I mean, what do you think? The world seems to be facing a very alarming health crisis and we seem to be falling behind other nations, even though with all this big pharma, I mean, how do you see this situation, especially considering just the overwhelming influence of pharmaceutical companies, advertisements for their drugs? I mean, with all the advertising we’re seeing, you’d think we’d be the healthiest nation on the planet, wouldn’t we? It’s so wild.

I’m glad that you brought that up. I think the Super Bowl was a really great example. The ads during the Super Bowl just alternated between these disease causing beverages and junk food, convincing us to eat these highly palatable, highly addictive food that provides big food with a lot of profit and then alternates with big pharma and these drugs that are supposedly the cure also to the obesity that they’ve caused. When these solutions aren’t FDA approved, they make us dependent on big pharma, no matter what, they get the profits. So whenever we look at media and these advertising, I think we just need to follow the money and the wallet and it shows us who’s profiting and they just do not have our best interest at heart.

And it’s so frustrating for me. I think a lot of people when it comes to weight loss, they’ve just lost hope. They don’t think they can do it on their own because they’ve not been given the right solution. And then when they see this kind of magic bullet, magic pill might find themselves leaning toward that when really it’s not causing them long-term support and better health. Right. Right. You know, I’m curious in your view, how all of this ended up happening. I mean, how we got here with the, the rise of prescription drugs and the aggressive advertising campaigns, the hundreds of billions of dollars that have come into all of this.

How did we as a society become so vulnerable to this system that profits from our sickness? You know, I think in general, we like things that are easier. Right. We like things that happen quickly. We don’t love delayed gratification just because of how we’ve been conditioned with social media and Instagram, Facebook. We see all these things that looks like to us that just happens immediately. And so that’s what our expectation is. Now we have these expectations. We’ve been pushed to become addicted to certain food, like I shared because of the profits that big food gets.

And so then when we see these supposed solutions, we just easily go for it. And we don’t, we now have curiosity around, thanks to RFK Jr vaccines, like we just need to ask questions. And, and I always believe that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. And the same thing is coming up with these weight loss injections. We’re now seeing really, really negative long term side effects. And people are going to these because they think it’s going to help them drop weight, but it doesn’t, you know, at PhD weight loss, we actually help people drop weight in a sustainable way in a faster way.

Like Dr. Turley, when you were dropping weight, you’re probably around three pounds a week on average and you drop 60 pounds with these medications on average, people are dropping only 15% of their weight, which seems like a lot, but it really isn’t. And then when they get off these medications, which most people do within a year or two, because they just can’t either stand the price because it’s around $20,000 a year, or they can’t stand the way they feel because you feel flu like the Thargic, you lose a lot of muscle.

So they get off these drugs and within a year, they regain at least two thirds of the weight they’ve lost plus 50% of the weight that they have lost in the first place is muscle. And you know, from your experience that you want to maintain muscle mass as much as you can. And it’s really hard to put back on muscle. So now these people are ending up actually fatter and in poorer metabolic health than they were to begin with. Yeah. But then big farm has gotten all this profit. So they win again.

Yeah. And I was going to say, and then when they come back and even worse than they were before, then that just caused them to want to get back on another pill and another pill. And then the doom spiral starts implementing here. Well, I know when I did PhD, and are doing PhD, it is so holistic. You’re looking at how we eat, what we eat and our exercise and just a whole health, a holistic health approach. So is that the key? I mean, with so much at stake for the health of future generations, I mean, what hope do you see for Americans to reclaim their health and freedom from the grip of big pharma? I mean, I personally, I mean, I’m incredibly excited to see this extraordinary political realignment around Maga and Maha.

We’re making health at the center of public policy. It’s fascinating stuff. I’m so excited because we’ve been boots on the ground helping people do this in a natural way, a sustainable way forever. And so I’m super excited to be able to in the first time in my life and my career, be able to see this type of movement coming from our government. I mean, I’m just it’s amazing. And my hope is that people feel empowered that they can create this change on their own. And they do not need to be dependent on anyone but themselves that they they feel like, gosh, I need to and want to take personal responsibility to to support my body that you know, is a miracle really, our body is a miracle.

And it is our job and our responsibility to take care of it. That’s, that’s my perception. And so if we can think about that, and then understand, we need to get to the root of the issue. And the root of the issue is how we eat and our lifestyle that’s wrapped around it. Our mindset, you know, a lot of times when we go through the weight loss process, we think, Oh, I just need to eat less and move more. It’s all about calories in and out. And this is just much more complicated than that.

You know, 80% of it has to come from the mind, the way we think and feel the reason why we eat the way we do in the first place. And then it’s not just about eating less. I’m not saying that we defy the law and third of thermodynamics. That’s a component of it. But when we were working together, Dr. Turley, we talked about what you’re eating and when you’re eating and how do we shift your metabolism so that naturally you’re not hungry and you don’t have cravings because you probably found that your hunger dropped significantly, didn’t you, during the program? Yes.

Yeah, very much so. Yeah. It took about a week or two. And then I noticed that the cravings that were coming every couple of hours before I started PhD just literally disappeared. I get hungry right around the time I needed to eat. But then that was it. That’s right. And that’s the way it should be. So if you are listening or watching to this and you have hunger cravings or you get hangry, something is wrong with your metabolism and it shouldn’t be that way. And we’ve just never been taught that, right? We think that that’s normal.

We think we should get hangry and that we should eat every three to four hours all the time. But it’s not the case. That’s not how our metabolism was built. That’s just been the outcome of how we’ve been taught to eat, which is really inaccurate. Right, right. All right. So what kind of like action items should we do? We’ve got people watching here. They’re listening to you and saying, this sounds pretty good. What should people do? What action items can they take to make sure they can get health under control? Yeah.

Like some specific tips of what to eat. Would that be helpful? Sure. Anything. Yeah. Okay. Let’s see. I would say tip number one is to not eat something sweet for breakfast. So think savory over sweet. And if you were to make that one change, I promise you, you will see shifts throughout the rest of your day when it comes to hunger and cravings, and you’ll probably drop some pounds. So instead of a fruit smooth meat, a fruit smoothie, maybe you would eat an egg omelet. Instead of pancakes with syrup or even a muffin that you would get at a coffee shop, I’d rather you focus maybe on a full fat or low fat plain Greek yogurt and put your own berries on top of it.

So that’s number one. And number two, I would say is protein forward, making sure each meal has a focus of some kind of good high quality protein. So those are my top two tips to take away from this. I love it. Now you do have, you do have a free training, a webinar that you’re offering as well, where you’re going to be getting into sort of the inner workings of how PhD weight loss works. I believe that’s February 27 at 3pm. Do you want to give us a little bit of a insight of what to expect for that? Yeah, it’s a great masterclass.

And I teach a lot about action steps that you can take kind of like the non sweet breakfast and the protein forward way of eating your meals and a lot more tips, lifestyle nutrition behavior that you can take away to implement into your own life. And then we talk about some common weight loss myths and bust those for you, which folks really love to learn about. It’s very surprising. And then I talk a little bit about what we do at PhD, how it works so that you have some takeaways there as well.

It’s about 45 minutes or so. And then at the end, I open the floor to Q&A and I want to make sure that I answer any kind of questions that you might have just around weight loss, nutrition in general. So it’s a lot of fun. I really enjoy it. It is. I love it. And it is. It’s mind blowing. It’s incredibly informative. And I like how you put it, you know, we, we pretend we know a lot about weight loss, because there isn’t a lot to know. That’s the right cow, more calories out than any kind of thing.

But as you pointed out, it is actually, well, the proof is what I shall use that phrase, the proof is of the pudding. But if the proof is in the pudding, we claim we think we know so much. But we obviously don’t because we’re failing at every at every corner of it.
