A lot of updates here in the last week. All right, let’s dive into one of the first big moves from Attorney General Pam Bonney, her shakeup of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. What does this mean for gun owners? And should we be concerned about her history with red flag laws? Stick around because we’re breaking it all down here on Guns and Gadgets. But first, a big shout out to today’s sponsor, DNT Optics. What’s better, guys? Night down below, let me know. Well, why not have both? DNT Optics offers daytime, night time, and thermal imaging all in one package.
Thermal to detect, night vision to identify, and they call it therm night. They also have picture in picture where you can have both thermal imaging and night vision displayed at the same time and instantly toggle between the two modes. The most accurate ballistic calculator and laser rangefinder is also included with over 8,000 units of bullet data to choose from in their library. Ballistic data can also be directly input through their device or via their ballistic application. Recoil advanced recording films 6 seconds prior to any activation. So if you forget to turn it on for some reason, you still short press the record button and it will start recording 6 seconds to prior to when you actually hit record.
It’s pretty cool. It has built-in IR illumination as well. Learn more at DNT Optics online. Alright guys, let’s get into this. Pam Bondi. In one of her first acts as attorney general under Donald Trump, the new president, she’s ordered a major shift in how the ATF operates. In a new memo, she directed the agency to de-prioritize certain enforcement efforts. But don’t get too excited just yet. Instead of cutting back on federal gun control enforcement, Pam Bondi specifically said that the ATF’s firearms regulations, including federal oversight of federal firearms licensees and background checks, will remain untouched.
What’s changing is that the ATF will be shifting resources, money, away from alcohol and tobacco enforcement and toward immigration, human trafficking, and transnational gangs. Now, on the surface, that sounds like a positive move. After all, who’s going to argue that the ATF should waste time regulating cigars and bourbon? All of that should be free and free for all of us as well. Should be free too. Shouldn’t have to pay for it. But the real question is this, y’all. Does this shift actually benefit us as a gun owner in any way? Or is it just a smoke dream while the ATF continues its anti-gun agenda? Gun owners have every reason to keep a close eye on Pam Bondi.
Despite claiming to be pro-Second Amendment, she has a very long history of backing red flag laws in Florida, as well as telling former President Trump in his first term how much she thought they were a great idea. And she’s also backed other restrictive gun measures. If you’re unfamiliar, red flag laws allow the government to confiscate firearms from law-abiding citizens without due process. Based solely on an accusation that they might pose a danger, no trial, no conviction, just a court order and a knock at your door. And if you’re lucky, they don’t try to do to you what they did with Brian Malinowski.
Now, this is one of the biggest threats to the Second Amendment today, red flag laws. And unfortunately, Pam Bondi has been a major proponent of these laws. During her time as Florida’s Attorney General, she strongly supported red flag measures following the Parkland shooting, leading to one of the most aggressive confiscation programs in the country. Now, as Attorney General of the United States, Pam Bondi will have the power to expand red flag enforcement nationwide. Maybe, I guess. That should send chills down the spine of every gun, not just every gun owner, but every freedom-loving American who thinks the Constitution means something.
Now, I will give credit to gun owners of America. They’re already jumping on this and watching Bondi closely. They’ve even asked for Doge to look into this. And in a statement, GOA’s Senior Vice President, my friend Eric Pratt, who you see, we’ll see here monthly in my new series called Freedom Under Fire, he reminded us that we’ve seen anti-gun Attorney Generals abuse their power before and we won’t stand by and let it happen again. While the Trump administration is shifting law enforcement priorities, we still don’t know exactly how this will play out for gun owners.
Will the ATF continue its attacks on private gun sales and FFLs? Will we see an expansion of federal red flag enforcement? And let’s not forget, the ATF still doesn’t have a confirmed director. Right now, it’s unclear who’s really pulling the strings at the ATF. And that’s a massive concern because, as we’ve seen before, an unchecked ATF can wreak havoc on the Second Amendment. So what do you all think? Is Pam Bondi’s ATF memo a sign that the administration is taking a hands-off approach to gun owners? Or is this just the calm before the storm? Drop your thoughts in the comments down below.
I try to read most of them. And most importantly, stay vigilant, y’all. Keep pressure on your representatives and your senators. Support pro-2A organizations. And never, ever let your guard down when it comes to our rights. Before we wrap up, again, a huge thanks to DNT Optics for sponsoring today’s video. And if you haven’t done so already, make sure you subscribe to Guns and Gadgets and hit the bell notifications so that you never miss an update on our rights.
Thank you for watching. Stay safe, stay armed, and I’ll see you on the next one. Take care, America. [tr:trw].
