Hey it’s Dan! Welcome back! You’re watching IAllegedly and I have a good one for you today because a CEO has just called us all shoplifters and I want to cover this. Please take a second and hit the like button. Please subscribe to my channel and don’t forget to join our email list guys because we have our big Christmas giveaway and you want to be on that list because it’s going to be announced in the email first so you can use the link below to sign up for that. Barry Biffle is the CEO of Frontier Airlines and he did an interview that you can read below that makes him look like the biggest clown in the world.
In this world of consumers not feeling like they get a good deal, not feeling like they’re appreciated, this guy comes out and basically calls us all shoplifters. Why are we shoplifters? Because when we go to Frontiers Gate to hop on an airplane, which again Frontier in spirit are the two budget airlines out there and they’re terrible. I mean I flew both of them and the experiences were equally as bad and all they tried to do was clip us and take advantage of this. Now that I know what I’ve learned in this report, I would have lost my mind a year ago when I found this out and that is that we are shoplifters because people try to sneak bags on the plane and not pay for baggage fee, check fee, you know which is outrageous.
You know you want to check a bag, you have to pay a fee. You show up late, you have to pay a fee. Oh you want to pick your own seat, pay a fee. Everything is designed that you’re just you know in this cattle car and you don’t want to pay you’re a shoplifter, which is terrible. Now think about this, the gate agents, the gate agents, basically most people I had somebody write to me and it’s not my line, I’m using somebody else’s, that they’re cafeteria workers. What do you want on your plate? Oh let me scoop it in here on your plate.
Well no these are salespeople at Frontier, so please understand this, the gate agents get incentivized. If they can charge you a baggage fee to them to have you you know have your bag checked, they get ten dollars for that. Think about that, if you do it ten times in an hour, it’s a hundred dollars extra an hour these people make, which is outrageous guys. I mean it’s so much money, it’s sickening. It’s absolutely sickening. Now here’s something that’s going on right now, CEO sentiment right now is at a low right now, these people are running scared for a lot of reasons and it’s terrible, but to sit there and say that we’re shoplifters and there’s no frills, horrible airline, I mean it is awful.
Okay let me give you some examples. Spirit Airlines, I want to make sure I remember this guy’s name. The CEO of Spirit Airlines is Ted Christie and Ted Christie, they recently filed bankruptcy you know in the middle of last month because they have three point eight billion dollars in debt and couldn’t merge with JetBlue. So Ted got paid a bonus, think about this, a retention bonus three days before the bankruptcy of three point eight million dollars and they owe three point eight billion dollars right now. So well that’s a good gig if you can get it, but this is absolutely criminal.
Now step forward and you’ve got the CEO of United Airlines, Scott Kirby, who steps forth and said listen chapter 11 Bank of Sea for Spirit is going to be a mere pit stop and they’re going to be liquidating the assets and people are going to be picking them up for pennies on the dollar and basically just said that this chapter seven is going to be soon converted to a chapter. Chapter 11 is going to be soon converted to a chapter seven. What an ass okay, what an ass. Now I want to give you guys an idea okay, a year ago I had a horrible experience on frontier and good old spirit and I said I’ll never fly them again and I fly but I fly locally and I fly I try to fly JSX which is a small airline and they treat you like gods it’s just great.
My really good friend’s wife used to work there and they recruit in fact they recruited her to go to the Orlando hub before they closed that down. So imagine you move all the way across country from Las Vegas to Nevada and then three months into it you don’t have a job, six months into it you do terrible so it happens it happens to really good people too. So I went on a cruise last week which is fantastic great break met a lot of people just fantastic just a reset and flew American Airlines coming out and and it was awful.
I remember flying American Airlines as a kid. I’ve flown them dozens and dozens of times in my life. The experience has been okay with American Airlines, but it’s nothing like it was 20 or 25 years ago. When I was a kid, especially almost 45 years ago, it was great to fly American Airlines with the food, the service, everything. Now? Awful. Awful internet problems, TV problems. On a five-and-a-half-hour flight, they gave you pretzels and announced, “Oh, we have things for sale.” Meals for sale? Really? Oh my gosh, what do you have? “We’ve got a box of cheese and crackers, or you can get the sweet delight.” What’s that? Candy? I don’t like candy. So I got the cheese, which was awful and old. Dollar store cheese would have been better. I think I spent $20 on that cheese. Great, right? I bought that and a drink. And no, that wasn’t part of the free menu. Outrageous.
Flying back home, the cruise ship got off of Puerto Rico, and we had to take United Airlines. You guys saw the picture in the last video. Awful, awful, awful. We flew United to Denver. On an almost six-hour flight, first of all, we had a bit of a delay. Again, internet problems with United. They gave us a bag of pretzels and cookies. I asked, “Do you have anything else to eat?” Nope, nothing. That was it. Awful service, slow, dirty plane. It was just terrible—disgusting, really.
Flying from Denver to LA, we had less than an hour layover, so we were hurrying, scurrying to the next gate. Then, we get notified: “Your gate has been changed.” We run to the new gate. “Oh, the plane is delayed an hour.” Then, “The plane is delayed an hour and a half.” Okay, so we’re sitting there, waiting, waiting, waiting. We waited over two and a half hours for the plane. We finally get on, and when I logged into the internet, I had issues. I asked for help because there are no screens on the plane. You have to use your phone or device to watch anything, get news, or stay entertained.
One of my cell phones has a T-Mobile account that offers free internet on flights. I tried to log in, and it said, “You’re previously logged into your flight with T-Mobile.” It thought I was on the other plane. What is this, guys? What are you doing? Oh, this is nonsense. First things first, I got half a Diet Coke to share, which was funny. Then, they walked over with chips and cookies. Two hours into the flight, I said, “Yeah, I’ll take chips and cookies.” They hand me a bag of chips and a bag of cookies. I turned to my girlfriend and asked, “What do you want?” The flight attendant said, “No, that’s for you guys to share,” and took the cookies out of my hand and gave them to her.
I couldn’t believe it. We laughed about it at first, but an hour later, I asked for something to drink. They said, “Proceed to the back of the plane.” So, I went to the back and asked a flight attendant, who said, “I’m on a break right now.” I thought she was kidding, but she wasn’t. She turned her back to me. I stood there for a second and realized, oh, she’s serious. She said there would be a drink service in 45 minutes to an hour. I asked again, but she just stared at me. I walked away laughing at the lack of service. United Airlines, you suck.
Let me remind you of something: during COVID, these criminals, this den of thieves, got $65 billion of our money as an incentive to fix the airlines and make things better. They just had a congressional hearing this week, and Josh Hawley ripped them apart. If you didn’t see that, there are great videos online, though I can’t share them here. These airlines are horrible. They hate us. They don’t care about us. We are mere insects to them. Scrape us into the jar.
Mr. Kirby, you should be ashamed of yourself. What’s going to start happening now is CEO accountability for the brand, the product, and the service you’re selling. Companies like Boar’s Head have faced issues when people die because of their products, and they claim, “We don’t know who’s running the company right now.” Massive litigation follows. The airline industry is completely broken. It’s a scam.
Thank God for the woman I travel with. She’s a skilled traveler and handles everything, from boarding passes to checking which bags are free and which ones we have to pay for. She makes it seamless. When she started getting frustrated, I knew there was a serious problem. When you travel, you have to take care of things like parking, house security, and arranging someone to watch the pets. Airlines don’t care about these hassles. They cut corners every way they can. Then you hear about issues with the planes themselves—Boeing, maintenance, everything. It’s horrible.
Frontier Airlines CEO Barry Biffle called customers shoplifters. Criminal. Did you know this? A year ago, I was hopping on a Frontier flight from Orange County to Las Vegas for a 45-minute trip. I was going to the Formula One race to meet my daughter. Someone recognized me, and we chatted about the channel. Then, at the gate, they said, “You’re 59 minutes before your flight,” and charged me $150 to get on the plane. Criminal. The airlines suck, and there needs to be accountability.
Scott Kirby, CEO of United, wants Spirit Airlines gone. Airlines think they’re the NFL, Major League Baseball, or some professional sports team. You’re not. You suck. You’re the Los Angeles Angels of the airline industry—last place. You better fix it, or your brand will be gone forever. People won’t tolerate this much longer. Companies like JSX offer better service, faster flights, and a better experience, and airlines hate them for it.
You’re a criminal, a shoplifter, because you want to avoid paying ridiculous fees? Let me know what you think about this. Please hit the like button, sign up for the email list, and join the giveaway. We’re giving away thousands of dollars, and you need to be on the list to participate.
When I got home, I watched the CEOs get grilled in that Senate committee panel. It was fantastic. They deserved everything they got. They deserve none of our money. They’re a horrible product and brand, and they all suck. Tell me about a good airline. Delta? My daughter flies Delta because of her miles. If you know of a good airline, let me know. I’ll try it. See you soon.
