We have time, so there’s a couple questions, at least one I want to ask Scott to address. We see 19 states are already on board, another 9 or 10 are very close to this constitutional convention and given the go-ahead in their state. And unfortunately, what I’m hearing is that the Constitution itself is profoundly flawed, and especially when it comes to things like the First and Second Amendment. And I’m under the impression that if they do get a constitutional convention, then we can say goodbye to freedom of speech, we can say goodbye to the right to keep and bear arms in the form that you’re familiar with.
What do you think about the idea of a constitutional convention and states like… Virginia’s not one, but West Virginia was like right on board to start with. I have no idea how they think this can be confined to just a small area. You know, they want to talk about term limits and balancing the budget. No way is that going to stay in that box. What do you think? Well, that’s a big question and loaded, and I won’t even take time to go into all of it. In general, though, I am always in favor of the freedom of the people to gather and use the constitutional mechanisms in place, whether it’s a constitutional convention or others.
You know, I’ve been at gun shows and other things where I’ve signed those petitions and things myself because, you know, if they meet the standard, but yes, there’s a lot of bad that can come out of, you know, because people are people. And Lord knows you can weight the scale and fill the room with the wrong people and get the wrong things accomplished. And I think a lot of them don’t think about that. And I’ve seen lots of things with bills and laws and things go very badly in the state level as well as, you know, we watched at the higher level.
So that said, I guess what I would say in general about the whole subject is, you know, we have those founding documents as they are. They are strong enough to do anything we really need to do with our country. The problem is we do not have strong men and women in the leadership in this country, whether it’s the halls of Congress or down especially where it’s most important in the state legislature and our county governments, our school boards and our board of supervisors. It’s sick move to watch things happening all over the country all the time.
And it starts with sheriffs. Look at the power pulled away from the sheriffs everywhere in this nation, state by state, the authority they once had versus now. And it happens with the purse strings as well as other things. And I look at Virginia, when I started as a sheriff, those don’t know the history with a lot of state. When I started in 1990, I took my oath at age 18. And I think about the fact that where it came in that short time. At that time, Virginia paid the full salary of deputy sheriffs in the state.
They paid for the running of the patrol cars, the purchase of uniforms, and I can go on and on. And in a matter of just however many years, they went to then paying only a portion of the salaries of the deputies, nothing to pay for the police cars, the mileage, the fuel, the maintenance, the uniforms, and so on. And the more you push that down to the county government, then suddenly, when that sheriff has to bow his head and stand before a board and plead for money to operate, well, he lost that independence that was written into that state constitution to start with.
Those constitutional offices in Virginia, I’m only speaking to my state, but most are like it. You know, treasurer, secretary, treasurer, clerk of the court, commonwealth attorney, and others, it’s important that they have to remain independent of the influence of that local board. I mean, I can go on and on with examples, but when a sheriff has to count them to board members to please get money to operate and enforce the laws and things that he was elected on the platform to implement, well, then suddenly you start having now, like a police chief, a board who’s going to say, well, no, I mean, I’ll give you an example.
Not long before I left office, we got this one sorry jerk of a board member. He drinks a lot, I guess, but he’s on a phone call. And actually, the FBI, you have that on my phone. You should play it. His name’s Tom Underwood. He actually threatened to pull my budget money because one of my deputies stopped the guy from DUI that worked for him. I’ve got a two recorded conversation where this ass tells me what he’s going to do to pull my budget money if I don’t count to him. And we leave the farm tag vehicles that work for him this drunk that my deputies stopped and didn’t even arrest actually.
But anyway, I got this tongue lashing and I recorded it because he’s such a jerk. But I was I didn’t do it to try to get the man charged. I did it because I wanted to later at this other stuff might happen. I wanted to talk to other board members and others in private and safe. This is why we have the system we’ve had. And it’s been it’s been whittled away with the purse string in Richmond over time. And we can’t have a sheriff. I’m a strong guy. And I don’t care. I’m not, you know, the guy’s a jerk.
I don’t like him. But I’m not looking to press charges. I’m just looking to say, look, this can’t happen. The system, it’s designed to be independent, to have a strong sheriff acting independent, funded by the state. Yeah, it checks the ballots. Exactly. And so I use that as just I mean, we’ve all experienced it. There’s not a sheriff out there that hasn’t had the local asinine, you know, board member or mayor, whoever that might be a jerk, come one favors. Problem was, and that was a problem in my county from the day I got elected a dozen years before.
I didn’t play by the rules that others did. And I didn’t do the favors others did. So I never got in the boots who crowd and, you know, I’m not the country club type, you know. So when you have guys like me and I picture Sheriff Mack very much the same. That’s the strength of the office of sheriff. And that’s what saves a lot in our country. When we have strong men and women who can fake stand and say, no, I’m here to do this. I enforce the law. I don’t make the law. But when I see something clearly unconstitutional, I’m going to take the authority I have.
And I’ll talk to other people in other offices to use their authority to push back. And legally, constitutionally say, no, that’s that’s against the founding documents. You can’t do that. Our citizens have rights, whether it’s worshiping for church in a pandemic. And the sheriff can say, no, you can do that. You may die doing it, but I’m going to protect your right to gather and do that based on the First Amendment. And I think that you’re completely correct. I think that the morality of the of the populace now has been deliberately destroyed. We can see the evidence of that going all the way back into the nineteen thirties, forties and fifties and then begin full steam in the nineteen sixties.
So people can’t think from the point of view of morality any longer. And and this is a bad time to have a constitutional convention for that reason alone. But you’re right. I mean, it is there. It can be done. And if it can be done, it will be done if they can change it and remove the First Amendment, as they’re doing now by segregating speech into different categories for which they censor. You know, for example, you can speak as long as it’s not called hate speech or anti-Semitism or you’re not a denier or something. They make up these filters.
And then if you get through those filters, then of course you have free speech. I believe that those things will be codified into an even stronger position if they do get a chance to change and modify the Constitution. And I’m 100 percent certain of that in my own mind. But regardless, I want to say, you know, as we have been on here for some time, there are a couple of things. I think you’re a great man. I appreciate the fact that you put up with this. I know that it’s I have a lot of experience with reading cases that went through the federal courts.
There’s no way to win. And it’s impossible to win. They have all the money in the world. They don’t give you a chance to speak. They will not let you present any evidence at all. So you don’t even need to bother to buy or pay for an attorney. They win 99.6 percent of the time. Most people settle out of court because they know it’s impossible to win and they will shoot every dime they have away trying to do it. So this is something that is so terribly wrong in our civilization that it’s hard to imagine. And so from that point of view, going forward, the fact that you went into a no win scenario and and stood there and took it and you would not win the appeal either.
If you read the news articles that I read in the last 24 hours, there’s not a person out there that even noticed what really happened to you. They read the same script in almost the same words repeatedly. It’s sickening. And from that point of view, you wouldn’t even be heard of again. You’re just a man. And so I think you want to hear the good news, Jack. Now, Sheriff Jenkins can help more with CSP. I was going to ask him next. What are you going to do now? I mean, don’t go in a corner and just pretend, you know, that it’s all gone away.
Let’s let’s stand up and go after him. At least you can write a book and, you know, go from there. Maybe you can become a sheriff again. Well, to be as blunt as I can. Well, first of all, I’ll say I was more than humbled and honored to conversations with the president and for him to say he wanted me to run again. I’m honored for him to even say that to me. And so that said, not saying I won’t, but I don’t have any desire to at the moment. I need to rest and heal with my family.
Mostly they are just whipped. But we’re going to get through this. Okay. And to your point, first and foremost, yes, there are either God always thankful to God first. And of course, President Trump, I’ll never say his name enough. And I mean, hell, there’s nobody in this county. Everyone knows me. And I mean, there’s no one around here that’s ever supported a president more than I have. And I, you know, I take a bullet and I’m speaking to someone who’s had bullets come close. And I mean that. You know, there are certain people, Memorial Day, you know, there’s great news the other day, a former SEAL.
And he said, you know, we asked that you be people worth dying for. And, you know, we have a president now and a team in place that is so good and doing going to do such great work. They’re not perfect people. That’s what I hate. They attack the person of the personality, you know, look at their policy, look at what they’re doing and waited on that. And God bless them. They’re doing wonderful work. And the first term was good, but this is phenomenal. They are off running. So if I could ever do anything, I’m not asking for a job.
Please don’t think it that way. I’m just saying, you know, I love those people. My family will always love them for what they’ve done for us. It could be. It could be the president. It could be Ed Martin. God knows. It could be General Flynn or Roger Stone. But Sheriff Mack and, you know, my attorney, there’s so many people that did such wonderful things for me. I will always do anything I can for them. And Sheriff Mack, you know, it was all obviously, I always respected and thought a lot of him in the years past for what we, you know, what he’d done and what he could do for Sheriff.
So it’s just a hundred fold more now. The care, the thought, the respect I have. And I want, yes, anything you all need from me. If I could, I don’t want to take your time or anything, but to anyone in the audience, anybody supporting, please, you know, it’s important to support this work. None of us have money to waste. I wish I did, but I don’t. But if you can support this organization, please do. And the work he’s doing is so important to educate and strengthen the backbone of these sheriffs who might be, you know, hamstrung, they might be a little hesitant.
You know, they kind of keep their hands in their pockets until one steps forward and then they follow. Well, we need more strong sheriffs to take stands and start leading the group. And if Sheriff Mack has just played that role forever, so please support him, the group. And yes, my solemn word, anything. You need me anywhere to help. If I can be there, if I can do something, I’m there. I’ll tell my story in more detail. I have nothing to hide. I never did. I just, I couldn’t talk about it because, you know, lawyers and court, but I can talk now.
I’m free to speak. You know, I’ll look, you know, you know, like I said, those agents. Why don’t we sit down and take polygraphs together, gentlemen? Let’s gamble our careers or maybe our freedom on that, the dirty crap that you all pulled. And that stands for you ladies, too, that came after me the way you did. You’re evil. And I’m sorry I’m getting angry saying it, but you hurt my family more than you did me, honestly. I didn’t lose faith and I never lost the fight. We will push for justice and we’ll temper that with mercy, won’t we Sheriff? Yes, I don’t hold, I don’t want retribution.
I don’t want revenge. That’s for God. Everyone answers at their own time, but I’m sorry I got a little man there, but that comes and goes. I just, all I’m saying is God bless the people who are doing this stuff and working like Sheriff Mack is. And I, please, a shout out to General Flynn. I’ve got to have so much respect for that man’s life and what he’s done. Roger Stone, I’ve never met him in person, but thankful so much for him. I mean, look, I mean, the man could be doing anything and he’s so busy and to take the time to help somebody he’s never even met like me.
And Ed Martin, I mean, brand new in a job, a man who started, all eyes are on him. He just landed in that new job that he, I mean, he, I guess his staff, everyone works so fast to do the due diligence to prepare a proper investigation report for the president. And then for him to trust, you know, he asked me on the call, he said, you know, I’m asking you, are you innocent? And he talked and I told him, I gave him some information. You know, that’s the thing. It’s not one of these things where it’s some political failure.
I mean, yes, I was with a sheriff group. We supported president and we worked on border security and other things. And yeah, I’d shaken his hand once before. And I’ve been to Mar-a-Lago or FBI events and things, but I wasn’t one of the sheriff’s buddies, clearly. I’m just a small town with president’s buddies. I’m just a small town sheriff. But I mean, yes, I supported him, always have, always will. And the man saw from his staff and people working on the case that there was an injustice and he gave mercy where it was so desperately needed.
And I thank God for him. But yes, in a group, all of you, man, everyone I mentioned right down to my attorney, I’m forever indebted. And whatever you need from me, you just shout. Very good. What about donations? Is there some place you’re taking donations? I know you lost your house. Well, once upon a time, my attorney had set up a GoFundMe. But, you know, we didn’t get a lot in that. But I mean, I can get him to pull out. I’m not a tech guy. I don’t even have, you know, anything set up for contact right now.
I was going to prison. So I don’t even have any social media set up right now. But we’re just trying to get some rest and heal right now as a family. But I will get the information to you if you give me a little while. I’ll have my wife pull it up and do something. But I’m not doing please, everyone. It’s hard. Money’s tight. But I’m not asking for anything. And it’s not why I’m doing this. I want to tell what happened to me to keep other people from, you know, having it happen to them.
But if you feel you can. I don’t want to take away from the CSPOA, though. But if you’re able to, that would be an amazing thing. And I’d greatly appreciate the help. Where do people go, Sheriff? Where do they go? I’ll get the link to you in just a moment. It’s a GoFundMe. It’s still active. My attorney had set it up to help pay with the legal fee. Jack, we’ll get that in the notes and get that out in the event and then send it to our email list, right, Jack? Yes, sir.
Yep. If you can get it to me, Scott, you know, do you have my… I’ll email it to you. Yeah, I’ll send you stuff. So, all right. Otherwise, text me in and I’ll send it to you as well. Thanks, everybody. Yep. And we appreciate everything you did. It’s unimaginable what you went through. The thought of giving up 10 years of your life and your police officer going into a prison, you know, unless you’re going to a country club prison, it’s not going to be a fun time. Well, I’ve been working out a little bit preparing for probably some unnecessary exercise I was going to have when I went in.
Didn’t know how that was going to work out, but thank God you saved me. Good. All right. Well, I appreciate you being here, Sam. I always appreciate you being here. And if you have any final words, say them, please. Don’t forget to save your recording. This is a great one. Thank you, Sheriff. God bless you and all that you do. Thank you. Thank you, Sheriff. And we will make this recording available for free. So, we’re going to put it up so that everyone can see it and pass it around, please, if you’re listening now, later, you know, down in the future, please pass this around and make it possible for those who might have got the wrong story about what actually happened to Mr.
Jenkins and pass it around. Thank you, sir. And for the rest of you, please remember, we exist from your kind donations. CSPOA.org slash donate, if you just want to throw a few dollars otherwise, take advantage of the many ways you can send us a little bit of money and benefit yourself as well. Until next week, thank you. And thank you again, Sheriff Scott Jenkins. Bye-bye. Thank you. [tr:trw].
