Hey, everybody, economic ninja here. I hope you’re doing well. A powerful California blizzard shuts down roads and ski resorts as heavy snow and fierce winds slam mountains. This is very serious. We’re going to take a break from our normal economic information and we’re going to bring the real news. And it’s hitting everywhere. This storm is no joke. I would stay away, absolutely stay away from these mountains because things are getting scary and the news media wants to make sure you’re scared out of CNN.
Blizzard conditions continue to slam northern California over the weekend with damaging winds and heavy snow dumping on mountain ridges down to the valleys. Around 6. 5 million people are under winter weather alerts across the mountain west with blizzard warnings still in effect for the Sierra Nevadas. You know, I’d say things are starting to heat up over here, but quite frankly they’re just getting colder. The most extreme conditions are unfolding at the highest elevations in the mountains with whiteout conditions and hurricane force winds.
As a matter of fact, no joke, we did record 190 miles an hour at the peak of one of the ski resorts somewhere near where I am in the Sierra Nevadas. It says the snow has closed a 70 miles stretch of Interstate 80 near the Nevada state line for more than a day after highway officials reported stranded drivers Friday night. Extreme. True story. I just saw a bmw with street tires try and make it up a street.
It didn’t look pretty if you are not used to driving in the snow. And I’m still learning. Stay away. It says extremely heavy snowfall rates of two to six inches an hour combined with very heavy winds exceeding 100 miles an hour at times will maintain impossible travel conditions in the Sierra Nevada, the weather prediction center said. Officials added there is no estimated time for reopening. The weather service has warned of high to extreme avalanche danger through Sunday afternoon in the central Sierra and Greater Lake Tahoe area.
About five to 12ft of snow was forecast to fall along the crest of the Sierra by late Sunday. And as you can see from this live weather report, it is still falling, possibly in excess. We’re talking wind gusts of 75 miles an hour could be expected across the intermountain west according to the weather prediction service. This is very serious. In no way would I go out skiing right now.
There is absolutely no way. We have to be very vigilant of this. Remember the news media. Okay, dude, I’m live. It’s awkward, awkward moment. Hey. More than 13,000 homes and businesses. Don’t scratch those things. More than 13,000 homes and businesses were without power in California Sunday afternoon, down from nearly 40,000, according to tracking website Poweroutage us. Numerous ski fields and chairlifts were also closed Saturday. I can attest to that, including at Palisades, Tahoe, Tahoe and Mammoth, and with some or at Tahoe and mammoth with some reports warning of delayed starts on Sunday.
Listen, the news media is busy trying to make us all afraid. Now, trust me, I am from the days of being a fireman used to stupid people doing stupid stuff. So we all got to take a chill pill and not go racing up to the mountain. Right now. It is a little nutty, I ain’t going to lie. But I also have to remind you, there’s always a bright side.
Ski week’s next week and it’s going to be amazing. So now listen, if you got the news here, if you’ve never seen this channel because you just wanted to tune in for some ski news, I’m a weirdo that just talks about economics, how to make money, and getting ready for the upcoming economic collapse. If you want more of that, hit the subscribe button and buckle up because it’s going to get crazy.
With that being said, the economic ninja is out. .
