Huh, what do you know about that? Now, here in California, we had a law, Proposition 47, that made it so that people could go out and steal up to $950 worth of merchandise at any given time from any given store, and basically go store to store to store and steal $950 worth of stuff, and not be prosecuted. They would be given a citation, a ticket, noticed to appear, and people didn’t take that too seriously. Well, we had Proposition 36 that solved that problem, supposedly, and it just went into effect two days ago.
Isn’t that great? So now, if you’re prosecuted for stealing, you’re going to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. And what it also does is it makes it so that if you have multiple offenses, it now makes the petty crimes felonies. So get ready to go to jail. Now, they say some good things are going to come out of this because if people have drug offenses and they get charged, they’re going to be given basically one final warning before they’re sentenced. And this is something that I had recently learned about with people, and that is if someone is convicted of a drug offense and they’re given a warning letter that basically states, please understand drinking and driving can kill people, please understand the sales of drugs can harm people.
If somebody dies, you can then be held responsible for a much more serious crime, like it ends with an order and starts with an M, you know what I mean? So that type of thing. So people can be held accountable for this. Now, across the country, crime is skyrocketing, and we need to do something about that. We need to stop this as soon as we can. People need to be prosecuted, and the world needs to be safe so you can walk outside and film YouTube videos and not be molested, you know what I mean? So next thing is just how expensive everything has become.
You know, retail prices have gone through the roof, but when it comes to restaurants, how about this? I thought the most expensive hamburger place was going to be Five Guys because it’s just a criminal act walking in there and you need to take out a second mortgage and get a home loan, you know, when you go and buy a meal there. But no, it’s Shake Shack, and Shake Shack is awful. I mean, I had a, you know, I bought two hamburgers, a plain hot dog for my dog. I know you guys are going to say, oh, don’t give Rosie that.
I did. And that was $51 for fries, drinks, plain hot dog, you know? So number two was Shake Shack, and then number three, I want to make sure I get this company name right because I’d never heard of them. And if you guys have, you can tell me who they are. And again, because I’ve never heard of this company. But one thing… And the third company was a company called Sugar Factory. You guys ever heard of that? Sugar Factory. It doesn’t sound like a burger place. It sounds like junk. So it sounds like cotton candy.
So anyway, Sugar Factory was the third most expensive fast food joint. Now, here’s something that we’ve heard of, USAA Banking. They had regulation problems that go back to 2019. And they had compliance issues and reporting issues and things they did with people’s accounts that the banking regulators wrote them up for and said, this needs to stop or else. Now, COVID hit. Oh, you know, we can’t deal with this now. Okay, fine. And COVID stops. And then they were written up again throughout 2022. And recently, this week, they were asked about this, and they haven’t done anything yet for it.
Okay, we’ll start to work on the compliance of it. I’m telling you this. If you deal with banks that don’t want to deal with compliance issues, reporting issues, making sure transactions are safe, making sure that they’re paying the right fees, making sure that they’re reporting everything, keeping your data safe, because that’s what’s most important, because once places get hacked and they haven’t fixed it, they’re going to get their brain suit out. They’re going to be fined, you know, millions, if not billions of dollars for this. So again, USAA, make it stop, guys.
You need to stop dealing with people this way because it’s absolutely ridiculous that a bank like this is not, you know, handling this in a responsible manner. So, Cal Freight, freight company that went out of business. Again, how do you have a freight company that goes out of business during the height of the shipping season? You know, the idea that the freight recession is over. I want to cover this because what we’re going to find out is, Amazon is busy, yes, but the post office loses money hand over fist. Are you aware that Amazon delivers things so cheaply that the US Postal Service loses money overall on Amazon’s contract? Is that insane? I mean, Jeff Brazos is, you know, he must give people free prime or something to, you know, go along with that.
But that is insane, guys, that people are losing money on a contract. And again, how do you get over that? You don’t. You just don’t get over something like that. I don’t know how this company thinks that that’s not going to be a major problem, but it is. You know, Neil Cavuto, who hates everybody in the Republican Party, is leaving Fox News, and that was just announced. And again, you know, the thing I don’t like about certain people, certain people get health warnings in their lives. Hey, you need to stop drinking. Hey, you need to eat better.
Hey, you need to exercise more. Hey, you need to lose weight or you could die. This guy had heart surgery, and this guy is still a fat ass. So, you know, I had no respect for him then and had less respect for the way he reported things and had problems with that. So one thing that’s funny, I got to get this guy’s names right, is there was a guy that said he invented Bitcoin and sued Jack Dorsey for 911 billion pounds, or $1.2 trillion. He sued Jack Dorsey, and this guy was a British guy named Craig Wright, and he just got sentenced to a year in prison for this, by the way.
That Lando Norris’ car again was kind of fun. A place to walk. People ask me, go out when the tide looks better. Anyways, that’s kind of cool. But anyways, this guy sued saying he was the Bitcoin inventor. I am telling you guys, if you want to have any credibility with this Bitcoin thing, and I get people that are like, you know, Dan, you’re stupid. That’s what I got yesterday. You’re stupid. You missed the boat. You missed the train. Well, guys, if this thing’s going to a billion dollars, you know, a million dollars a coin, how did I miss out? If you could convince me to go do this, you’ve got the thing’s going to go up 10 times.
So again, I always ask the same question of these people that insult me, how much do you own? Because I know what they call whole Bitcoin holders, people that have a, you know, multiple Bitcoins that have whole Bitcoins. And with that, these people that are telling me how stupid I am because I missed out on it, it’s kind of funny. So, you know, this guy lied, this guy presented paperwork that he was the inventor of Bitcoin, which I’m telling you this, I don’t want to have a guy like this be the inventor of Bitcoin.
Do you? I mean, you know, there was a Satoshi Nakamoto. You want some jackass, you know, programmer to sit there and say he was the inventor of Bitcoin. I don’t want that. I want some obscure genius that invented this thing supposedly so that there’s, you know, realism to it and not some clown. Now, one thing that we’ve talked about for the last year and a half that is coming true are the merger talks. You know, Kroger Albertsons, you know, the airlines. Now, think about this. Nissan and Honda are talking merger talks, and Nissan owns Infiniti, and the Infiniti dealerships are all closed around the country.
So, good for you if you own one of those cars. Good luck getting parts for that. But is this a good thing? Now, they’re blaming EV competition. How about the fact that nobody can afford a $50,000 sedan? Just a simple car. So, I’m telling you guys, the price of an automobile, the price of a pickup truck is absolute lunacy right now. And you’re going to see more and more people out of survival that are going to talk about this and try to, you know, come together like it’s the greatest thing ever.
We’re going to build a super car company. No, you’re not. You’re not. You know, Honda and Nissan are not going to do that. So, a lot more to this. The U.S. is issuing a warning for people that have TP-Link routers that you could be the victim of Chinese hacking and spyware. Again, guys, get yourself the VPN, and we’ll talk about them later on in the week. But I’m telling you guys, all these warnings about all the Chinese hacking and everything, you’ve got to protect your data. You have to have backups and all this stuff.
I’ve been working on so much of this stuff right now, and things I’ve learned with the social media company, oh my gosh, all the stuff you have to do to stay in compliance and things like this is stuff that people just don’t even know. But I have a feeling when you hear about places like USAA that are out there and they’re not protecting people with different, with their transactions and transferring money and fees and just the compliance, you don’t want that. You don’t want it. One thing that I do is look at trends in the market, like for example, shipping. If shipping is off, why is it off? Is it off to a specific area? Is it off to where they had hurricanes? Is it off in a certain market or is it off around the world? Well, right now it’s off around the world.
Yesterday we had a strike for Amazon workers, Teamster workers that were just sick of Amazon not negotiating and not being fair about possible employment deals and pay and things like that. Whether that’s going to stick or not, who knows? It seems like Amazon lives on my street, but who knows? What’s going to happen in the future? One thing that you have to look at with the trends is, think about this, places like McDonald’s, whether you eat there or not, you have a fry supplier, a French fry supplier, Lamb Weston, and they say, listen, the trend is off.
The trend is off substantially. And their earnings, they thought that they were going to earn $1.02 a share and they earned $0.62 a share. They did not lose money, but they were off substantially toward the stock completely throughout the time. The problem with this is that people are not buying hamburgers and fries like they used to. Were they just buying hamburgers? Guys, no, they’re not spending money at these fast food places, and this is absolutely tragic. So one thing that is back, and good old Peter Schiff, I love Peter Schiff, and I’d love to have him on the show someday, but he was talking about the, you know, inflation is back, and central banks are doing things to raise inflationary concerns.
Cutting the interest rates is not good for inflation. It’s going to make it go up. You’re going to pay more for everything right now. And, you know, here’s the thing. If you could expect prices to continue to rise, then you can combat that. You can decide where you’re going to spend it. You’re going to see a lot of people go out of business during this time if that, in fact, happens, but we need to know what to plan on. But this $20 an hour wage thing, that is absolutely killed the fast food restaurants here in Southern California.
You know, yesterday went out and got a sandwich, and I’ll get a gyro, and I’ll get a nice tea with $18. Okay? It’s crazy. Who can afford that? So people can’t. That’s the problem with this. And it’s not getting better. It’s just getting worse all the way around. So if you protect them, you know, if you plan on this, you’re better off right now. But Peter Schiff says, just get ready for more. Get ready for more inflation. But the thing that’s going to happen is we’re going to get the real numbers on everything.
The employment numbers were out, and the jobless claims weren’t that bad. But, again, guys, people should be able to get a job today. You should be able to work in retail. You can’t go to Macy’s and get a job, work in the register, or helping people find stuff in the stores. Those jobs are there. They may not be there after Christmas, but they’re there this week. So let me know. Let me know what you think about this. But, again, make this stop. Make it all just tone down. Make it all stop. The UPS sales are off.
You know, our postal system is off right now. I mean, it is just crazy. You don’t see the demand. When I go to the post office right now and you guys send me stuff, there’s not the line out the door like there normally is. It’s very weird. It’s not Christmasy at all because Christmas is off. I’ve got to go to the post office today. I don’t want to do this. And normally there’s a line out the door and there’s no such thing right now. It was just announced that New Zealand is in recession right now.
They hit it in the third quarter, and their value to the dollar has completely plummeted to .56 down another 2.2 percent. But, again, blame everything, industry, travel. Every aspect of the economy is hurting right now because people have no money. So, again, with the Make It Stop theme, one thing that is absolutely wild right now is Liberty Mutual, the insurance company, has just announced that they’re going to get out of the market of selling to apartments, condos, and renters’ policies. Hello. Okay, guys? It’s terrible, guys. You just cannot get a break with this stuff.
So with the Make It Stop thing, Safeco, they announced that they’re going to do this on January 1st, but they added one more. So you got the apartments, you got the renters’ policy, and they’re going to add marine and boats. So here is the thing that you’re going to find between now and next summer. If you own any type of water vehicle, whether it be your jet skis, your boats, anything like that, it’s going to be an absolute fortune to ensure those moving forward. It’s just going to happen that way.
And, again, who can afford this? Who can afford this? Because you have to ensure, I’m telling you, when you walk amongst all these boats, you pray everybody’s got insurance. You know, if you’ve gotten to an accident, accidents happen all the time, and people need to prepare themselves for this, and you just don’t want to cut corners on this. So it’s going to be awful, man. But one thing, I have a friend of mine, when we had dinner the other night, he used to run an all-state office before he sold the all-state office.
And he said, you know, the smartest clients were the ones that called me in advance and said, hey, are you going to rewrite my policy? Of course we’re going to rewrite your policy. Here’s the terms. And they would start to do it about 60 days before the renewal, so there wasn’t a shock to the system and to their finances. So everybody should do that. Call and ask these questions in advance. I’m going to finish this video with these last two stories. And the first one is, story on a fast company, and this is crazy.
They asked landlords that only own single-family houses, and again, make it stop, have it end, give us a break. Eighty-four percent of the thousands of landlords said that they’re going to raise rents in 2025. Again, guys, it’s just a matter of time. You know, you’re going to pay more for everything right now, and we need to prepare ourselves for this. But if you can’t get insurance, you think the landlords have it in easier? And again, every time I mention anything about landlords, they’re scum suckers, they’re terrible, they’re awful. Yes, they are.
They are just, you know, whatever. But 84 percent say they’re going to raise your rent this year. Final, final story is a guy that was fed up, a YouTuber named Che Dan, who I have no idea who this person is, but he bought himself a school bus and converted it to a two-story motorhome and spent $57,000, which didn’t seem like a lot of money. It really didn’t seem like much. So $57,000, and this guy’s got himself a home, a two-story house that is on wheels. So with that being said, man, I think that that’s fairly cheap.
