We have some news about special counsel Jack Smith, this man right here. Donald Trump said recently that he would fire Jack Smith, quote, within two seconds of taking office. Well, we found out that he may not have that opportunity. The reason is that the Department of Justice, where Jack Smith works, cannot prosecute a sitting president. Fox News has told that Jack Smith will be gone from his post as special counsel, meaning the cases will be gone before Trump takes the oath of office at noon on January 20th. This is the documents case, though that was dropped already by Judge Eileen Cannon back over the summer, and it’s on appeal, but also this case for Trump’s alleged efforts to try to overturn the 2020 election.
So, given the fact DOJ policy says you cannot prosecute a sitting president, expect Jack Smith’s cases to be done. The last case, and I’ll end on this, is that Atlanta case that deals with the 2020 elections. That’s a local Georgia case we’ve seen over the last year, how that has played out with Fannie Willis, Nathan Wade. That has many problems, many different delays. So, the bottom line for my story to all of you right now, Donald Trump’s legal problems have essentially all gone away since he won. It’s official, special counsel Jack Smith is resigning his efforts at prosecuting President Trump have completely imploded.
We’ve got the latest on the impending resignation and what President-elect Trump plans to do in response. Plus, the entire liberal editorial board of the LA Times gets fired. The owner is done with its wokeness, and he’s now ensuring that one of the most liberal papers in the nation will be fair and balanced. Where have we heard that before? We’ve got the latest. It’s now being widely reported that special counsel Jack Smith will indeed resign before Trump takes office on January 20th. Because of the presidential immunity ruling by the Supreme Court, all of Smith’s cases against Trump, which were absurd to begin with, but they’ve all blown up in his face as has his legal career.
And so he will be skipping town before Trump has the opportunity to fire his arse, literally two minutes after he takes oath of office on the 20th of January. But many of Trump’s supporters are saying, not so fast, Jack. Attorney Mike Davis summarized it well. Jack Smith, pre-election. This has nothing to do with the election. Jack Smith, post-election. We wrote, translation, admitting it was always about election interference. Jack Smith must face investigations and accountability. Rogan O’Hanley writes, quote, Trump persecutor Jack Smith plans to step down before Trump takes office. Let’s make one thing clear for Jack.
You can run, but you can’t hide. We’re going after all the corrupt snakes who destroyed the legitimacy of our institutions and weaponized our government against political enemies. And that is exactly what President Trump’s inner circle appears to be already planning for. The Washington Post is reporting that House Republicans have already begun taking the initial steps in investigating Jack Smith. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan and others have already ordered Smith’s office to preserve all records involving his prosecution of Trump. And Elon Musk has tweeted out, Jack Smith’s abuse of the justice system cannot go unpunished.
That does appear to be the growing consensus among Trump’s inner circles and among wider Republicans. They know that the Democrats crossed the Rubicon with this lawfare. They committed the unpardonable sin of trying to jail a former president, something we had never done in 250 years of our republic. And that cannot, that absolutely cannot go unpunished. They’re going to have to suffer the consequences that will serve as a deterrence for any future attempt at this kind of blatant lawfare. And at the very least right now, we’re looking at mass firings. It’s not just Smith.
It’s going to be his entire legal team and anyone associated with his weaponized legalism. Their careers are effectively over in D.C. for the foreseeable future. And there will, of course, be numerous investigations. And it will be very interesting to see if anyone in the legacy media will be held accountable here, legally accountable, given how they so willfully and gleefully abdicated their responsibilities to speak truth to power and expose this blatant partisan exploitation of the law by Democrats to punish their political enemy. Speaking of the legacy media, it is now being widely reported that the owner of the Los Angeles Times, one of the major liberal media staples in the nation, has fired their entire editorial board in the wake of November 5th.
LA Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong took to social media to praise a reader’s letter slamming the LA Times columnist L.Z. Granderson over reasons he gave for Donald Trump’s election win. And then he dropped the news of the new editorial board, quote, coming soon. Here’s what he tweeted out, quote, proud that we posted this letter from one of our readers on X. When the president has won the vote of the majority of Americans, then all voices must be heard. Opinions are just that. I will work towards making our paper and media fair and balanced so that all voices are heard and we can respectively exchange every American’s view from left to right to the center.
Coming soon, a new editorial board, trust in media, is critical for a strong democracy. Well, welcome to the party, pal. Now, this tweet comes on the heels of a previous tweet that the owner made the day after the election. Here’s what he wrote, quote, the American people have spoken and LA Times will take the lead to provide factual and balanced coverage as the country heals its division. Now, all of this comes after the paper already suffered a number of resignations in response to the paper’s refusal to endorse a presidential candidate this year, which meant, of course, since they always, always, always endorsed the Democrat, it meant that they were refusing to endorse Kamala.
And so a number of editorial board members have already resigned in protest and they weren’t alone. USA Today also refused to endorse any presidential candidate this year. And again, given their track record of always endorsing the Democrat candidate in every single election, it was seen as yet another slight against the fledgling Harris campaign. And of course, Jeff Bezos refused to allow his Washington Post to endorse Kamala or anyone else to the shock of the swamp rats who work there. So what the owner of the LA Times is doing here is not unique, although he is taking it to the next level and firing the entire liberal editorial board and replacing it with one that he’s claims will be far more fair and balanced.
But what we’re seeing here from both the Smith resignation and the firing of this liberal editorial board, I would argue is actually the same thing. It all appears to mark when all is said and done the end of an era, in this case, the era of liberalism and the liberal international order. The scholar Oswald Spengler wrote extensively on the rise and fall of civilizations. And he noted that there are key recognizable signs indicating the twilight of a particular social order. And one of those signs is the complete loss of legitimacy or credibility in a system or social ideal.
You know, one of my favorite examples of this in history involves a Roman emperor by the name of Julian the apostate. His reign began in 361 after Constantine had Christianized the Roman Empire. But what made Julian notable is that he renounced his Christianity in favor of going back and seeking to revive and reawaken the dying Neoplatonist traditions that Christianity appeared to be replacing or better incorporating into a more Christian cosmic vision for the empire. And one of the most fascinating stories in Julian’s attempt to renew these pagan traditions was involved his excitement and his anticipation in finally getting to attend what he read about a yearly festival called the Lucinian mysteries, which involved a number of initiation rituals that drew initiates into a special and unique divine encounter.
In many ways, Plato and the whole platonic traditions considered by many scholars to have been modeled after the Lucinian mysteries and this divine ascent into divine life. And so as sort of the climax of his philosophical religious ascent, Julian traveled to the sanctuary of Demeter and Cory in Eleusis, just northwest of Athens. And based on what he read about the festival, he was so excited because he was expecting to see this mass huge turnout of devout followers for the festival, which he read about for centuries that had happened for centuries. And when he showed up, he was shocked to find no one was there.
The Hellenic priests were there, but the the Eleusinian faithful from all over the Greek world had vanished. And what scholars have noted there is that Julian, who did, as I understand it, go through that initiation ritual himself. Nevertheless, Julian realized at that moment that his attempt at reviving the ancient Greek customs had basically been an abject failure. And it was a failure because that world, that pagan civilization, had come to its end. I mean, there was no particular moment for when it ended. It just dissipated. The old Greek world found that it had just exhausted its capabilities.
And so a new world rose in its place, a Christian world that took the philosophical traditions of the Greeks and that were diminishing on their own and instead revived them through the transfigurative power of the resurrected Christ. The point here is that I think we’re basically seeing that now. So, the legacy media, failed academia, federal bureaucracies, they’re all seeing their world rotting and imploding. And this is before a single member of the Trump dream team officially begins dismantling the administrative state. It’s over. The resignations, the firings, the investigations, these are all indicative of an old, tired, decrepit, elite establishment keeling over.
A new golden age is indeed dawning. The twilight of the old liberal order is coming to an end. [tr:trw].
