Now, this video is a bit different from my regular content where I’m usually talking about pushing back against tyranny and oppression. Thanks again for having me. It’s always wonderful to get an opportunity to really educate people because as a physician, I guess you can call me old fashioned. I have white hair now. I’m sort of old school. I actually believe in educating my patients because really, if you’re doing your part and then you come see me, it makes my job easier. So I don’t want to sound selfish, but as a physician, it makes my job a lot easier.
But more importantly, it’s better to promote health as opposed to having to cure illness. And again, there’s an old saying saying that an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. And these days, you do the ounce of prevention correctly. It’s worth like a ton of cure. I want to let the audience know that you are a physician, but your background is in homeopathic medicine, natural remedies. A lot of my viewers here are very cautious about the mainstream medical narrative. And so you’re all about creating this legacy in holistic healing. And people that are watching this channel don’t want to have to go to the doctor to get a prescription for Ambien, but they are experiencing all of the side effects of sleep deprivation.
There’s stress, anxiety, dread that’s being drummed into our brains from all directions. So I just wanted to lay that foundation for people that might be new to this channel, that you are an innovator in integrative medicine. And that’s exactly the kind of message that we want to share here. So please take it away, Dr. Fong. When it comes to sleep, boy, has the knowledge base on sleep exploded in the last decade and a half, really, maybe even two decades now. There’s actually an American Academy for sleep medicine now that’s on the conventional side. And you guys are going to love this because we’ve all talked about it.
Man, I’m not getting enough sleep. I feel like, you know, I’m kind of, you know, grinding myself down like an engine without oil. Well, guess what? If you’re not getting the right kinds of sleep, you really are. We characterize sleep at this thing where we’re awake, level one, two, three, getting to the deeper sleep. Level four is the deepest you can be. But here’s the weird one. Like a medieval castle, you have to reach level four, the deepest sleep, before you actually can come back up to a level where you’re dreaming above the whole thing.
So dreaming, you’re literally above level one of sleep, but just below consciousness. And so that understanding is that most sleep, anybody who’s talking about sleep, they should always ask you, are you dreaming? Because if you’re actually dreaming, you’re actually getting into that deep sleep. Now, a lot of times we don’t remember our dreams, but if you do, a good way for you guys to just assess yourself is if you can remember a dream, you know, maybe just write scant details of it down if you want to, but at least mark somewhere like on a little journal.
Yeah, I remembered my dream. Let’s face it. We’re under stress everywhere around this world. Everything around us is trying to bring us down, whether it’s mental, emotional stress or literally, you know, physical stress. But I talked about this in some of my other talks. We live in a toxic world. We have chemicals. We have all kinds of things, infections that get in our bodies. Sometimes our bodies don’t fight off really well, and they can be chronically left in there. We can be exposed to biologic toxins like mold toxins are a huge things now, but all these things start breaking our body down in our body.
You know, God gave us an amazing body that’s very resilient, but if we don’t get the sleep that we need, we’re not resetting things. We’re not repairing things. So again, as you get to level three and really level four, what you’re doing is now you’re going from fight or flight to what I like to call rest, reparative and restorative sleep. That means is like all the things that you’re putting out during the day, you’re secreting organs, get a break. They can reset. More importantly, these, when I say secreting organs, like things that put out hormones, like neurochemicals, all these things that keep us regulated.
Our organs obviously can reset. And so we, we find our balance really is probably the best term. We find or reset our balance so that things work better and we get kept into that better balance where we can actually detox ourselves better. We can keep our systems aligned. And there’s, there’s a whole talk about that further down the, you know, if you want to come see us, there’s other things that we have to treat that we can remove those stressors from your body that much better. But we’re talking specifically about the main mechanism here today.
The main mechanism of sleeping is again, to put you into a state where your body can reset itself. Let’s just leave it simple like that. And one of the things we find in the society today is that we’re too stressed about things, these things. Greatest convenience in the world, but also probably one of our biggest pains. And I’m not talking about 5G necessarily, or all these other things that people talk about. I’m talking about the fact that that has our attention 24 seven. If that phone is near me, either I’m getting a call or getting a message from somebody.
And as a physician, a lot of times it’s an official thing. But what does that do? My brain doesn’t stop. You guys need to think about this. I know mom and dad used to say, Hey, be careful about what you watch on TV and other stuff when I was younger. And here we are. Same thing with the same, but you guys really should not go looking at inflammatory content when you’re getting ready to bed. Anything that excites you. The fact that this thing glows in your face. Puts off certain amount of radiation there.
We want actually things like blue light, but not at bedtime. This whole thing about blue light blue light, specifically the wavelengths of blue light, which is a natural hormone to help you to relax and get to sleep. It kicks it off usually about eight or nine hours after exposure to the, uh, uh, to the blue light. I’m sorry, not eight or nine, but 14 hours or so afterwards. So in other words, I, I told my patients, uh, go out and the open sun. Get sun for about 15, 20 minutes every day.
So again, that’s a natural way of helping with the first step. They can promote melatonin levels in your body. Uh, again, these are all things that you can do. They’re all things that are very important that that’s the sleep hygiene. You don’t want things that are excitatory. So being on a computer like I am right now, not a good thing. So the rule of thumb is get away from all your electronic devices. If you can, especially things that you’re looking at and things like that about at least an hour before you get ready for bed.
The old fashioned crack a book. A lot of books in here, but anyways, whole point is that, um, if you want to read something that’s in print, like on a piece of paper, that’s okay. They seem to stimulate an excitatory feature in your body, but either way, you’ve got, everybody needs to take a little time to down. Yeah. It’s got down to turn themselves, you know, kind of relax and unwind so that your body can naturally fall asleep. So, uh, I mentioned melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that we’ve naturally produced in our bodies.
Melatonin is very critical. Uh, melatonin is something that people have supplemented before. And we’ll talk about that one here a little bit here in the product we have. Um, but it’s important to understand that proper melatonin levels are what will help you fall asleep. Um, but at the same time, all the stuff about shutting down de-stressing. So that’s the next thing we’re talking about, about de-stressing. Anybody here not have a stressful day? Cause that’s, I see a big smile there. Uh, yeah. I mean, the whole point is it’s really hard not to have stress.
I mean, it could be good stress, but the whole point is all that is driving that fight or flight. You fight or flight is your biggest enemy trying to fall asleep and you need to find a way of getting away from that. So another thing you can do about that is, and I tell my patients, take a 15 minute mental vacation from your daily life. You literally shut everything off. You get away from everything, lay on your bed, close your eyes, and you imagine yourself like say in your favorite place, uh, a beach on Fiji because that’s all part of the sleep hygiene, shutting down the nasty loud noises, putting yourself into a quiet state where you can relax and fall asleep.
But sometimes there’s things that we need to get rid of them. So the, the, the next point is if you have something that you can’t figure out, always go see your doctor and go see somebody that can help you to kind of figure out what that is and address those problems. So that being said, um, we have here in Neutronix and developed a product known as the sleep miracle. It’s a spray as you can tell by the little tip there.
It goes under your tongue half an hour before you want to go to sleep under the tongue. And it really fully absorbs into, uh, the bloodstream. Well under the tongue, you have something called a capillary bed. Capillary is in these tiny little blood vessels that are ones that help us to absorb things.
