And it did work out. It totally worked out. I have told you how proud I am of you and how it’s absolutely amazing that you swung this and paid for it yourself. It was a fun two years. Yes. And you got to, okay, you went to junior college, got a two year degree. For three years. And then three years. And then you went and transferred to Rhode Island. For two years. And got a degree in film. And then now you moved to Boston. That’s two sits. Your dream city that you’ve always wanted to live in. And it’s been fun.
Yeah. And she called for fun. Okay. Speaking of that, now, okay. When you hopped on the plane to get here. Yeah. Seven degrees. Seven degrees. Okay. It was awesome. So what I want to do for the audience is I want to talk to somebody in their early 20s. Twenty three right now. Okay. Twenty four in February. What do you think, like, let’s talk about the economy. Do you think that things are, it’s been rough right now. Yeah. But do you think things are going to get better or worse in 2025? I think they’re going to be good.
I think a lot of job opportunities are going to skyrocket. That is something that I can definitely say is going to happen. It’s kind of a little hard for kids who just graduated in May and like the summertime who are just trying to look for, you know, their career right now. But I think that, you know, things happen for a reason. And I think everyone’s going to be fine in the next year or so. So, okay. So election’s done. We’re moving forward with, you know, a new administration. And you feel that business is going to get better overall.
100%. Do you think that, you know, and now, okay, one thing that you’ve done and you work at restaurants. Yeah. And you, you know, started as a bus boy and then a food runner. And now you serve at high-end restaurants. And what got you into that? So I, at a time when I was 21, really just was like sick of, you know, being a barista, you know, as my side job while I was in school full-time. So I was like, I want to be a server. So I got into the restaurant industry when I was 21.
And I’ve been in there for about two years now. And I’m serving right now. Helps pay bills, helps pay rent. That is something for sure. Okay. But you had a roommate who gave you some solid advice. And that was work at high-end restaurants. Work at high-end restaurants. Don’t overwork yourself. And to the point where it’s like, don’t work two jobs if you actually want to do something instead of just, you know, working for yourself. Oh, you mean like have fun? Yeah. Okay. So right now, as far as, okay, was college worth it? Yeah.
I understand. I personally don’t agree how expensive college is. I think that sucks. I think that is a total scam forever. Now, we don’t get into specifics. But one thing that you did was you went and negotiated the price of tuition and the price of everything. From living on campus, you negotiated everything with them, didn’t you? Yeah. It was a good time. My school is very lenient on situations for kids who just didn’t have the funds to actually go to school. So it was really like, it was a good time. And it was a fun two years.
I didn’t think it flew by. I think college was the longest five years of my life, for sure, because it just felt like it was never ending. Well, you did work. I mean, you did take a lot of units and things like that. Worked a lot. But they, because you asked, they made a deal on the price. Yeah. Okay. That’s what I was getting at with that. Yeah. I just didn’t want to put words in your mouth. It was a good thing to talk about because some people are, you know, too scared to ask these questions to advise you to school.
Remember, you could always offer this when they want this. Open your mouth and speak. Yes. Your voice really does matter. That is something for sure. Now, one thing that you had an interesting lesson on lately was you had a car. Yeah. And we bought the car here in California and then shipped it to you. And it was great. They delivered, you know, basically to the, around the corner from your house, they took it off the flatbed and gave it to you. Yeah. Okay. You got into a car accident. You got into a really bad car accident.
Yeah. One of the first things that I said to you is you’re going to be, you’re going to deal with the insurance company or about to get screwed. And you’re going to learn this lesson early in life. And it was terrible, wasn’t it? That’s what they offered. So it was not the fun outcome that we wanted. But, you know, with some negotiating, when you open your mouth and you say, hey, let’s do this. Okay. Okay. But you also thanked me too and said, dad, I don’t know how you pulled that one off.
Thank you, dad. Yes. So again, a lot of things, a lot of lessons learned when that was a good one, because you learned how it’s, you can never, you know, it never hurts to ask, never hurts to open your mouth. One thing that was screwed. Okay. Was because you were living at a state out of California, they were going to pay you less for the car than if you lived in California. Yeah. That is true. Isn’t that terrible? That’s a scam, guys. That is absolutely horrible. So if you live in Rhode Island or you live in Massachusetts, you would get less money for your car than if you lived in California.
That’s just, who would tolerate that? So we didn’t eat. So it worked out good. So, okay. As far as the job outlook, you think everything looks better as far as that is. Yeah. Because I had the plan to, I know like after I graduated something that I really wanted to do was still work in the restaurant industry and like still serve and do all that. And eat and pay your bills. Because it really does help you out. Especially as like a young, you know, when you’re in your young 20s, you know, it helps out a lot.
So I knew I wanted to do that. It worked out. And following my career with film and yeah, it’s been a fun time. So overall, you think that 10 years from now, things are going to be good. You think you’re going to be in your industry that you want to work in? Of course. Okay. Yeah. I think that life now, right as the second on December 26, in 10 years from now, I think life’s going to be the exact same. I think everything’s going to be said. I think everything’s going to look the same.
Maybe we’ll have some new buildings, new houses. But, you know. As far as opportunity economics, you think things are going to be good? Yeah, I think we’ll all be fun. You know, we’ll all be in our 30s by then. And we’ll all be kids by age. We’ll all be in our 30s. And yeah, our families love kids. What about how expensive things are right now? Have you noticed how the prices have gone up? When you go to fast food, we went to a casino and you bought a drink at a Starbucks, and you were just floored.
I got a tall, little refresher, and it was $10.35 at a casino. And, you know, in my hometown in Massachusetts, it’s like, if I get a large, it’s like $6.50. So, it made no sense. So, I was just like, I’m never going to Las Vegas ever again. You know what I’m saying? But, it was just like a thing where it’s like, you know, you really pay for what your money is worth, you know? You pay for what your money is worth. You mean, things are expensive, and you’d like to get your money’s worth.
Yeah. Okay. People say, I misspeak. So, I didn’t mean that. You say, chip off the old block. Okay. So, let’s see. What else? You know, how’s Boston going to do this year? The Red Sox, personally. We have a few ace pitchers now. We just need some bats. I’m excited. I’m going to go to a lot of games this year. That is my priority. And, it’s going to be a fun year for them. We went to Fenway Park this year, in May. Right before, it was the day before my graduation. And, it was a good time.
It was fun. They lost, but it was a fun time. It was a good time. It was a very, very good time. And, but overall, you’re happy that you live in Boston? Yeah. I, you know, despite what everyone says and how expensive it is, because it is one of the most expensive states in the country. I would say definitely top five. But, it’s very easy to get around. It’s really easy to, you know, like the train system in Boston is one of the best in the country. So, you’ve experienced that. You told me that you could buy a train pass for, it’s like $35 a month to use the train.
It’s like the T. You can take it from like your town into Boston, or you can go down to like, you know, the south side. It’s fun. Housing prices there. South Shore. I’m sorry. Housing prices. Housing prices. So, for rent, you can definitely find an affordable apartment in Massachusetts. Really depends where you live. For me, I live in a really good area, really safe area. So, I’m happy with that. But, some rents. Like, okay, rent in Boston is one of the worst in the country. But, like, if you live in like a suburb, or like an outside town, outside of Boston, like 20 to 30 minutes away, it’s very worth it.
And, I would definitely suggest doing that if you’re trying to move to Massachusetts, or just to Boston. It’s a big money saver. But, if they have a pool, they actually shut it down, don’t they? They shut it down year round, because I kind of forgot about that, because I realized that it snows, and it gets freezing in Massachusetts. And, they shut down their pool for like, you know, nine out of the 12 months away. So, you’ve invited your friends over to go swimming. You’re in the pool, and they’re basically going to call the cops on you.
Yep. So, this was mid-September. This was when it was like, now I end of September. Starting to get cold, it was about 60 degrees, maybe 50. We went to go swimming. It was freezing. But, we get in the pool, and the door was actually locked up. But, we somehow got in. You mean jump the fat? No, I just opened the lock, and it just unlocked still. Oh, okay. So, we’re swimming. There’s like six of us. And, the head of the apartment complex, where I live, told us to get out. And, we were like, why? And, they’re like, oh, it’s because it’s closed until May.
And, I’m like, what do you mean this is closed until May? And, I’m like, oh, okay. Now, we’ll get out. So, then, two days after we were in swimming, they blocked off the pool. Okay. So, it’s just fully blocked off. Can’t get in. You can’t undo it. Sucks. Okay. So, okay. But, overall, you feel good about the economy. How do you feel about the world? World peace and everything? Things are going to be safe right now? I think we’re going to be fine in the next few years, especially. I think, personally, with everything going on, I think that if your head held high, it’s going to be all right.
Be positive. Be nice to everybody. Always. Well, thank you for doing this. People have asked for you to come back. Absolutely. Okay. Miss you guys. It’s so good to see you again. Okay. Heck yeah. Like, subscribe, and email hello at iallegedly.com. Thank you for being here, guys. Bye. [tr:trw].
