Summary

➡ Peggy Hall interviews Lily Allman, who is raising awareness about a proposed voting system in Idaho. The system, known as ‘jungle primaries’ and ‘rank choice voting’, is complex and potentially confusing. Lily created a satirical video to explain the system and its potential drawbacks, including the possibility of fraud and the dilution of party distinctions. She also discusses her experience as a poll worker and the importance of local involvement in politics.

Hey friends, Peggy Hall back with you from TheHealthyAmerican.org. You’re going to love my guest. This is Lily Allman and she is in Idaho in Coeur d’Alene and she’s been fighting for your freedom. Lily, welcome to the program. Thank you for having me. This is going to be fun. Well, you are making waves with this video that I’m about to air for the audience and set it up for us. What is this video that’s going viral? So basically, we have a proposition on the ballot in Idaho right now that’s trying to implement jungle primaries and rank choice voting and nobody’s really happy about the idea.

And it’s so complicated that it’s almost impossible to explain. And so I kind of came up with this video as a way to explain it. Okay, we’re going to take a look at this video and then we’re going to come back. Stick with me everyone because you are not going to want to miss this. We’ve talked about voting on this channel before. And this is your wake up call to at least vote to give get your voice out in terms of these local issues. So let’s take a look at this. Oh, thank goodness for prop one.

I’ve always said we needed a more complicated system. Why have a candidate you like when you can settle for everybody’s third choice? I used to have to research like five candidates. Now I research 40. I love a system that incentivizes mediocrity. And it’s impossible to recount. Did I mention that? It’s impossible. You could drive, but it’s not going to happen. We’re technically asking for a jungle primary, but open primaries tested better with our focus groups because they thought we actually meant that open primaries are really good for tampering with the other party’s elections when you don’t have the majority.

Now that’s what I call democracy. Right now the parties get to choose whether or not they have an open primary and the Republicans are the only one who hasn’t taken us up on that kind of embarrassing for them. Alaska just tried jungle primaries and ranked choice voting and it turned the state blue for the first time in 50 years. So we know it works. The current system disenfranchises thousands of Idaho Democrats who want to vote on the Republican ticket. I mean, make elections more expensive. Make elections more confusing for the elderly. Make it super easy to fill out your ballots incorrectly.

We’ll toss those ones out. Make Idaho blue. Wait, I’m being told I can’t say that. Can I say make it less red? What about purple? Can we say purple? Okay, never. Well, yeah, I just won’t say that part. Look out Alaska. We’re coming for you. Lily, when I looked at that, I thought I was looking at the Babylon B. I mean, it turns out the video quality is excellent. And so tell me a little bit more. Let’s talk a little bit. I had never heard of the phrase jungle primaries. And I love that you did this video satirically.

I think that can get a lot of people to kind of wake up and ask questions and go, hey, that doesn’t make sense. Or let me dig into this a little bit more. So let’s talk about this. This concept of jungle primaries and why it’s so, so, so important in Idaho. Yeah, so I’m no expert on any of this. I’m kind of a person who tries to know a little bit about everything. But what I can tell you is that they’re marketing it as open primaries. So you won’t really hear the word jungle primaries, but that’s what it actually is.

So right now in Idaho, each party is free to choose whether their primary is open or not, whether they require registration to receive that party’s primary ballot. So that’s, that’s what we have right now people can choose the parties can choose. But what jungle primary seeks to do is to combine all of the parties primaries onto one ticket. So there would be no distinction between any of the parties, it would kind of just be a free for all. There’s a lot of room for fraud and cheating because people don’t actually have to declare which party they’re with if they don’t want to, or they can lie about which party they’re with because there’s no vetting system.

There, it’s not like they have to go through the party to get on the ticket so it’s a really deceptive way that they’re marketing it and yeah, that’s kind of the summary. Well, I see those American flags behind you and we are recording this right before the actual election day coming right around the corner. Do they have early vote, excuse me, they have early voting in Idaho. Yep, we have early voting it’s been going through the last two weeks I think and it’s wrapping up tomorrow so people have been early voting and there have been record numbers every single day.

Does Idaho require an ID for voting. Oh yes, and it has to be an Idaho ID. I’m also volunteering as a poll worker this year so I got all the training and yeah, it used to be where you could use an out of state driver’s license if you had that, but now they’re really cracking down on it you can only use an Idaho ID. So, security is pretty tight in Idaho. Tell me about your experience there working as a poll worker what’s that like and what did they train you on. Oh yeah, it’s really fun so let me think.

Basically, the training is pretty straightforward. I mean, they kind of walk you through all the different laws, you know, you’re not allowed to influence anybody to vote one way or another everyone’s supposed to have freedom to cast their vote. And there’s a lot of different procedures, a lot of different safeguards to protect the ballots. That’s kind of why I became a poll worker. This will be my fourth or fifth time doing it and I wanted to know how secure our elections actually were so I got right in there. And it’s been really good to see all of the different processes we have and just really reassuring to see that all in person because I think we have a really good system, especially here in Coeur d’Alene and Kootenay County, we pay very close attention to what goes on in the elections.

Well, everyone who’s listening, one of my mottos is don’t complain create so create another way. And that’s exactly what you’re doing so anyone who is saying, Oh, you know, the elections are rigged and it’s all pre decided. Look what Lily did she actually applied to volunteer to be a poll worker so she’s seeing what’s going on. And that is taking action and really getting involved. Why is it so important in your video you talked about Idaho turning purple? What’s going on with that? So basically what’s happening in Idaho is that I think a lot of Republicans and conservatives are becoming maybe a little complacent.

And I hope that’s not the case for this election because obviously this is going to be a historic election. But, you know, a lot of people just kind of sit back and think, Oh, this is Idaho. I don’t have to do anything. Even people who move here who have moved here recently, they come here because they think that Idaho is going to be better and it’s going to be more conservative. We’re going to have better laws, more safety, and that you’re not going to have to deal with all the woke nonsense in other states. So people just kind of want to take it easy.

But the truth is that the left doesn’t stop. So if you’re not paying attention, they’re working on your town. They’re trying to get your their people into your town. And if they can change the local level, they can change the fabric of the entire state. So yeah, that’s that’s how I see Idaho turning blue or turning purple. It’s really just I don’t think that it is actually blue. I think we are still a conservative majority. But I think that when we don’t do anything about it, they gain ground. Absolutely. And it is so important at the local level.

I have a handful of examples, people who told me, for example, in Florida, in South Florida, not far from Orlando, maybe it even is that county, or at least in the city elections. They had a very woke liberal mayor that was well running for office, and they banded together, they did a very powerful educational, you know, sprint to let people know exactly who these candidates were and they were successful in blocking that person from getting a You start getting to the grocery store, you start getting to the county level, you know, they’re a little bit.

Now that they’re the kings and the queens and they want to lord over us. And of course, at the state level, you’re very separate from those in many cases from those legislators. So I think it’s so important. And it’s not just the city council, it’s your water board, it’s your school boards, it’s your HOA. I mean, it’s any body that has that type of power to make those decisions that we want them to represent. And our, you know, represent us fairly in the way that we voted for them. Yes, absolutely. You told me that you moved to Idaho about six years ago from Washington so that was right before all of the hogwash was sloshed all over us.

Was your move motivated by kind of the political climate, or you just like the weather. It was a little bit of everything, the political climate was definitely a very appealing factor. But my family has always wanted a little bit of land and at the time the cost of living was better too so there were just a lot of reasons pushing us over here. And it was, you know, we had no idea about 2020 and so when everything started happening we were just even more grateful that we had come over here, because Seattle is not doing so great right now.

Oh gosh yeah that’s been one of the most shut down places. What was it like in those years in your area? In the Coeur d’Alene area? In the Coeur d’Alene area. Were businesses closed? Were schools closed? Were people walking around with the stuff on their face? So there were definitely a lot of masks like more than I would have liked. But there was a lot of resistance. I mean, even on a city by city basis you had one city saying no mask mandates and then the next door city saying yes mask mandates. And so if you were going to go into the mask mandate city, you just have to be prepared to stand up for yourself if you didn’t want to wear it.

So there was a lot of that. We had quite a few public meetings where we were trying to get the public officials to listen to us and they were really bent on doing what they wanted. So yeah, it was a lot of fun. I think we were definitely one of the most free cities in America, especially at that time. I remember I was at a restaurant during COVID and, you know, we weren’t really listening to any of the, what were those guidelines, the social distancing, but also like, I don’t know, the business related ones where they just didn’t want you to be operating at full capacity.

There was a guy in the restaurant and he was from the UK and I was overhearing him talking on the phone with one of his friends back in the UK and he’s telling them like, they’re open here. They’re doing whatever they want. And he was just amazed by that. Yeah. I thought we were probably setting a very interesting example for the rest of the world who was being forced into doing something they didn’t want to do. Well, I know a handful of healthy Americans that left their state that left California and moved to Idaho or left Oregon and moved to Idaho.

I know a couple there as well. And even as I say, as you said previously, prior to all of this hogwash, as I call it, Idaho had quite an allure for many people that wanted to just live and let live. Yeah. You know, be more independent, not have so much government control. And I know that people in Idaho do not want it to turn like Colorado. Right. Colorado was one of the was like Idaho. It was one it was the cowboy state it was the Wild West. Yeah, it was the live and let live and you know independent thinkers and self sufficient and it is absolutely astounding how liberal many of those cities are.

And I think it’s like California. People are shocked to find out that California actually is conservative. I if if these corrupt if these elections, and if the governments were not as corrupt there’s so much corruption at the local level, I’ve been actually shouting from the rooftops about the corruption at our Orange County, California Board of Supervisors. And finally the FBI investigated, and the former chairman of the Board of Supervisors has pled guilty to felony charges. He gave millions and millions of dollars to his daughter fraudulently, who created a nonprofit that didn’t exist, and also lined the pockets of his, I call him his fakes frauds phonies and cronies.

And finally, the FBI took note, and they rated his home and the home of his daughter, and other homes, other people that were involved in this as well so we are seeing signs of, you know, this facade cracking and the corruption coming out into the forefront, but it’s in Los Angeles, it’s in San Francisco, it’s everywhere, but we the people like Californians by and large, are conservative in the big cities. You’ll have more liberal minded people, but yeah, the state, it’s extremely red. So people to give up, I don’t want them to give up on California, and some people say oh what’s the use I’m not even going to vote well that actually makes it easier for the You’re trying to resist, you know if they don’t if they don’t experience your resistance, it makes it so much easier for them.

It really does. Well, I want to share some of your social media sites here Lily, and we’re going to take a look over at your. Let’s go first to your YouTube channel. Oh, sure. And yeah, in the know Idaho, and I’ll have a link. Everyone I’ll have a link for you in the description box below. And I also will do a sub stack. And that, if you haven’t subscribed friends who are watching it’s absolutely free. It’s at Peggy hall that sub stack calm. And let’s take a look here is lilies YouTube channel in the know Idaho and here is, there are a couple of shorts I recommend everybody watch.

And this is the video that I aired previously the endless joys of prop one. And is this your main channel Lily or where do you like people to go here’s your Facebook channel. Yeah, you know we’re actually the most active on Instagram, and here’s okay and there’s your ex and here’s Instagram. All right. Yeah. Yeah, Instagram is kind of my main social media platform it’s just the one I prefer and you know we’ve got the biggest following over there so I like to pay attention to those people over there. Even Sorbo there. Oh yeah I just got to meet him recently just got a little photo op.

Wonderful. Well here, this kind of summarizes what we were just saying. Yeah, it was a red state through and through so I don’t have to vote. Right. Well, if you don’t vote. They have a better chance of turning it. Yeah. Well, I’m so nice to make your acquaintance. I love seeing young people out there committed, taking action connecting, educating others you’re doing all of that Lily Thank you for coming on short notice. I just saw your video and I thought oh my gosh it’d be so great to have you come on as a guest and be introduced to our healthy American audience.

So, any last words you’d like to end with words of encouragement, people out there that are saying, oh, enough with the voting. Well, I mean, if you live in America, you have a duty to vote, whether you like it or not. It’s just a part of life you know like, I’m in America we have it really good. We have so much freedom. We have so much say and who gets elected. There’s really no reason not to exercise that right, because if you don’t, we’re going to turn into a different kind of country where you don’t have any freedoms and you’re going to be sitting around going, why didn’t I pay attention when I had the chance so just want to encourage you to just exercise that right you know it’s just.

It’s what we’ve got to do if, no matter which country you’re a citizen of. There’s some kind of an obligation to, you know, help keep that country. This is a very small thing we can do so definitely get out and vote on November 5. I love that voting is your duty, that’s going to be the title of this video. Thank you so much, Louie. I look forward to following all of your media and seeing more of those videos that’s awesome. Congratulations. Thank you for getting the word out for helping people stop, think, and then take action and thank you again for being on board and every
