The Republicans in Congress, most of them, have gone woke and joined the Democrats in attempts to repeal the First Amendment by mandating an Orwellian definition of supposed anti-Semitism, which would ban criticism of Israel, ban criticism of anyone who happens to be Jewish, and ban reading certain scripture from the Bible. Oh, you don’t believe me. Well, you must be new here, but be sure to subscribe to my channel and stay tuned because you won’t find information and analysis like this anywhere else. And you better grab a cup of coffee because this may be one of those long and in-depth reports. What this bill would do if it becomes law, and for that to happen, it would have to pass the Senate and old Joe would have to sign it.
And if that happens, which very well may, then it’s going to face legal challenges all the way up to the Supreme Court because it’s clearly against the First Amendment. But what they’re attempting to do is mandate a definition of supposed anti-Semitism that has been drawn up by an organization called the International Holocaust Remembrance Association. And we’ll get into what their definition of supposed anti-Semitism is, which should be quite clear. One or two sentences, it’s the hatred of Jews or somebody who hates Jews. But these days, it’s now someone who Jews hate. There were a handful of Republicans who voted against this, as Matt Gaetz called it, a ridiculous hate speech bill. Lauren Boebert voted against it, so did Marjorie Taylor Greene and Chip Roy.
But many, the core Republican establishment, including Speaker Mike Johnson, who tabled the bill to be voted on, and Tom Cotton are thrilled. But here’s the thing, yet again today on the floor of the House of Representatives, we had another show vote to make people feel good about themselves by passing a bill that says anti-Semitism in the title. That’s what happened. And it was put on the floor by Republican leadership. And it was put on the floor by Republican leadership, despite knowing that it was pulled from going through committee. We didn’t have a chance to amend it. We didn’t have a chance to discuss it, to debate it. We didn’t have a hearing on it. It was jammed through to take advantage of this political moment.
While all of these horrific things are going around the country, Republican leadership wanted to score political points. So they moved through legislation without the kind of deliberation debate that is supposed to be carried out by the people in this chamber. I would add that not only do they want to score political points, but in fact, many of them literally do want to restrict the First Amendment when it comes to criticizing a certain foreign country or other things you’re not supposed to notice. Let’s go through this IHRA’s working definition of supposed anti-Semitism that they want to make law, shall we? The first bullet point says calling for aiding or justifying doing bad things to Jews. Okay, well, that’s bad and that’s already illegal.
Making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews regarding having power as a group or regards to the media, the economy, the government, or other social institutions. I’m sorry, Alan Dershowitz, would you like to commit an anti-Semitism? People say Jews are too powerful. We’re too strong. We’re too rich. We control the media. We have too much this. We have too much that. And we often apologetically deny our strength and our power. Don’t do that. Don’t do that. We have earned the right to influence public debate. We have earned the right to be heard. We have contributed disproportionately to the success of this country. Never, ever apologize for using our strength and our influence in the interest of peace.
I’m sorry, professor, but that is a violation of the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism. Excuse me, Norm. Do you have anything that you’d like to add to that? Well, earlier this week, actor Marlon Brando met with Jewish leaders to apologize for comments he made on Larry King Live. Among them, that quote, Hollywood is run by Jews. The Jewish leaders accepted the actor’s apology and announced that Brando is now free to work again. You can read through some of these yourself, because if I read them, then YouTube would take this video down. But here’s a couple more accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide than the interest of their own nations.
That’s the dual loyalty trope, they say. So when someone like Congressman Brian Mast shows up to Congress wearing an IDF, Israeli Defense Force uniform, which he served for over there in Israel, then you’re not allowed to say that there may be any kind of conflict of interest regarding how he votes to support certain legislation for a certain foreign country, because that would be anti-Semitic. What say you, Ben Shapiro? Do you want to put this ridiculous conspiracy theory to bed once and for all? I wonder if one day you will have to flee the United States? I mean, I think that every Jew throughout world history who has a brain and knows history has always wondered if a country that is not a Jewish state is going to eternally provide them security guarantees and full citizenship, of course.
I mean, that’s why the existence of the state of Israel is the single greatest guarantor of my loyalty to the United States, frankly. Because Israel exists, that means the United States is going to be a more welcoming place, or me, because Israel is there as a backstop in case anything should go wrong. Oh, well, sorry, I asked. I didn’t mean to notice that. Do you have concerns about the level of Israeli influence in our politics here in the United States of America? I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know. I just, I’m not, you know, I’m not a politician in political office, so I don’t see much of that. For as long as I live, for as long as I have the privilege of serving in the Senate from New York, I will unflinchingly, unstintingly, and with all of my strength be Shomer Yisrael, a guardian of Israel.
The first bill that I’m going to bring to this floor in just a little while will be in support of our dear friend Israel, and we’re overdue in getting that done. And no one has done more for Israel than you, Lindsey, Senator Lindsey Graham. He is a stalwart champion of our alliance, and we have no better friends. So I want to thank you for everything you’ve been doing over the years. I have said to people when they ask me if this Capitol crumbles to the ground, the one thing that would remain is our commitment to our aid. I don’t even call it aid, our cooperation with Israel. Let me explain something about what is called the Jewish lobby in this country.
In the first place, Jews, understandably in the United States, because of what happened in World War II, because of the Holocaust, are going to put first priority on the survival of Israel. You’ve also said that Congress is an Israeli-occupied territory. Now, what do you mean by that? I said on the McLaughlin group in response to a question, Jim, they said, do you think that the Congress of the United States will resist this demand for further aid? I said, throughout a crack I’d heard. I said, no, the Congress of the United States is Israeli-occupied territory. What I meant by that is the most powerful lobby in Washington, which Congress can’t stand up to, one of the most powerful, is certainly the pro-Israeli lobby.
It has gotten its way in this town year in and year out, and I don’t think the automatic votes of the Congress of the United States for three and four billion dollars worth of aid to Israel are necessarily in the national interest of the United States. And that comment, which is to ridicule the subservience of the Congress of the United States, is perfectly valid. Israel literally owned Congress. You understand that 10 years ago, 15 years ago. I am Jewish and proud because Jews have always done what’s right. We’ve led the fight for gay rights. Harvey Milk fought to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation. Eddie Windsor was a leader in the fight for marriage equality. Miriam Ben Shalom challenged the ban on gay people serving in the military.
We’ve helped lead the fight for racial justice. Our rabbis were BFFs with MLK. Together with black leaders, Jews helped to establish over 20 HBCUs. During the civil rights movement, Jews were disproportionately involved in the protests. We’ve led the fight for women’s rights, for equal pay and the right to choose, and against discrimination in the workplace. When we think about the State Department definition, which seeks to codify what anti-Semitism is, it’s such a flawed definition that it can virtually encompass any particular act without any real regard for context, although it pretends that it does. For example, the State Department definition claims that stating that a particular Jewish person has more loyalty to the state of Israel than they do to their own country is necessarily an example of anti-Semitism.
The truth is that that’s one of the fundamental premises of Zionism. If you go back and look at the statement of Theodore Herzl, who’s really considered the founding text of Zionism, he argued very clearly that Jews are one people and therefore it’s useless for them to be patriots to the countries in which they reside. There’s times when a statement like that is contained in the definition of the State Department would actually undermine the founding premises of Zionism itself. Let’s get back to the definition, shall we? Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination by claiming that the existence of the state of Israel is a racist endeavor. So you can say that America is racist, that any European country that isn’t allowing enough non-white immigrants in, that’s racist.
But if somebody starts questioning what’s going on with Israel’s immigration policy or lack thereof, then you will be committing anti-Semitism crimes. They also deem it anti-Semitism if somebody claims that Jews had anything to do with Jesus going to the cross. Charlie Kirk, who is getting a lot more based as the kids say, more bold, more truthful. He used to be quite a weasel and a Neocon, but he is actually redeeming himself. He still needs to apologize for some of the policies that he used to promote, but he is actually getting much better. And he posted on Twitter, he asked, did the House of Representatives just make parts of the Bible illegal? And then Tucker Carlson, who doesn’t really use Twitter, just his team does to post clips, responded, yes, the New Testament.
Here is former New York Times lackey Barry Weiss, who has since tried to reinvent herself as a free speech liberal who’s not part of the woke crowd, talking with Bill Maher, saying that what the Bible says happened to Jesus is nothing but a conspiracy theory. Why the Jews? Why do they have the kick me sign on their back? Well, I mean, I’d have to go back to the book of Matthew. When the Jews rejected Jesus as the son of God. Oh, that thing. Okay, that thing. I knew there was something I had forgotten about. So it’s Christian’s fault for all of the antisemitism in the world today for the last 2000 years. Oh, it comes back to him.
It is bad. But no, but you think about it. Just think about it for one second. So if you look at the idea that the Jews get the most power, the tiny Jews get the most powerful empire in the world, the Roman empire to do their bidding by killing Jesus. And in a way, it all goes back to that original conspiracy. Well, oh, that’s interesting because in Matthew 1118, it literally says the chief priests and the teachers of the law. These are the Jewish Pharisees heard Jesus teaching and what Jesus was doing and began looking for a way to kill him for they feared him because the whole crowd was amazed at his teachings. Now, of course, it’s not fair to blame all Jews or Jews living today for what happened 2000 years ago, just like it’s not fair to blame white people for slavery 150 years ago, but to deny what the Bible says that it was the leadership at the time that conspired to do.
You know what? They say that that’s anti-Semitism. What say you, Ben Shapiro, the most famous Orthodox Jew in America and the leader of conservative media? You know, from a Jewish point of view, we don’t believe in the divinity of Christ. There you can make an argument that the gospels which were written. He was just a prophet. No, no, no, we don’t even believe he was a prophet. What do you think he was? What do you guys think he was? I think he was historically. I think he was a Jew who tried to lead a revolt against the Romans and got killed for his trouble, just like a lot of other Jews at that time who were crucified for trying to lead revolts against the Roman and got killed for their trouble.
So he became legend in story and it became a bigger and bigger deal as time went on. Yeah, he had a group of followers and then that gradually grew and then do you think he was resurrected? No, that’s not a Jewish belief. Okay, I just wanted to check. Yeah, no, we’re not into. Oh, so the Romans did it all on their own and not a single Jew had anything to do with it whatsoever, right? Oh, wait, what’s this? It’s the book of Matthew chapter 12 verse 14 where it says the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus. Then when the local townspeople who definitely weren’t Romans demanded that Pontius Pilate release Barabbas instead of Jesus, Pilate was stunned and in Matthew 27 verse 24, he says, I am innocent of this man’s blood, meaning Jesus.
It is your responsibility. Anti-BDS laws are part of this because in 38 different states in America, there are laws where if a business owner criticizes Israel or wants to boycott the products coming out of Israel or the country in and of itself, that’s a BDS stands for boycott, divest, sanctions. So if they don’t want to invest in Israel, if they don’t want to buy anything from Israel, then they can’t submit bids for government jobs. So if they own a construction company or an electrical company, they are banned from being hired by local state or federal governments in America. So you can criticize Russia, you can make fun of Zelensky and Ukraine, you can criticize and boycott China, any country around the world.
But if you do that to Israel in 38 different states in America, which is supposed to be a free country, land of the free, then you get punished. Oh, you’ve never heard any of the free speech, conservative social media personalities or mainstream political pundits talk about this. Well, what a surprise. Here is Sebastian Gorka, whose radio show is called America First being asked how somebody can claim to be America First and support free speech if they also support anti-BDS laws, which most Republicans in Congress do. So I approached the BDS question as not fundamentally an issue of First Amendment. That’s a smokescreen. This is the modern form of anti-Semitism. If you understand the BDS movements origins and what it’s really about.
So if you don’t want to buy anything from Israel or if you don’t want to invest in Israel, then that’s not free speech. That’s anti-Semitism. This is just anti-Semitism under a new cloak. So no, anybody who talks about First Amendment rights, it’s a smokescreen. This is the new form of anti-Semitism and needs to be recognized as such and rejected by all decent Americans of any religion. You agree with the left when they say hate speech is not free speech? No, no, no, no. So you’re anti-Semitism not protected speech. You’re trying to be very smart here. You’re trying to box me into a corner. But actually, sir, you boxed yourself into a corner and you are a hypocrite.
You’re trying to box me into a corner, but you won’t be able to do that. Okay. My first major was philosophy and theology and I have a PhD in political science. So try as much as you will. This isn’t about the First Amendment. It’s about anti-Semitism. And definitely do not read these books or you may become a thought criminal. You may start asking questions that have answers that are too difficult for any mainstream conservative opponent to dare answer it. You will be called an anti-Semite just for noticing them. Often when there is dissent expressed in the United States against policies of the Israeli government, people here are called anti-Semitic. What is your response to that as an Israeli Jew? Well, it’s a trick.
We always use it. When from Europe somebody is criticizing Israel, then we bring up the Holocaust. When in this country people are criticizing Israel, then there are anti-Semitic. That’s probably about enough for now. I’m already flying way too close to the sun.
