The Advil pain relief pill company has a new campaign called the Pain Equity Project aimed at black people. And you’re not to believe what it is that they’re saying. And by the way, Advil is nothing more than ibuprofen. And so anybody who wastes their money on Advil is a moron, because you could buy the store brand ibuprofen in any grocery store in America for probably half the price can.
After you learn what Advil is doing, you’re definitely not going to want to give them any of your money after this. What is pain equity, you’re wondering? Well, thankfully, Advil put together this commercial to tell us, when I approach a medical professional, I’m frustrated that we have to validate our pain just to get treated like human beings. In an Advil study about pain experiences, 74% of black people said that there is a bias in how pain is diagnosed and treated.
What that means is that when they go to the doctor and they’re in pain, the doctor is hesitant to prescribe them prescription pain pills because there’s an opioid epidemic. And healthcare professionals are severely concerned that patients may become addicted to the pills or that they’re faking their supposed injuries in order to get them. And so they try over the counter medication or physical therapy instead. I should not have to beg my doctor to run tests or ask them to take another look.
To ask them to take another look. The Advil pain equity project introduces believe my pain. Advil hosted a roundtable discussion about systemic pain bias in healthcare. Welcome to believe my pain. A discussion about systemic pain bias in healthcare. I want to thank all of you, and all of you for joining me today as we talk about this very important issue. I also want to thank the Pain equity project, developed by Advil in partnership with the Morehouse School of Medicine and Black Health for inviting us to be a part of their commitment to addressing pain bias in black communities.
The legacy of slavery in this country, I think interpersonal and systemic racism that still exists in this country and that is embedded into the institution of medicine and healthcare. Our health professionals most want to do a good job and care for their patients, but unfortunately, we’re seeing implicit bias that they are not listening to their patients, they’re not responding to their patients concerns, and sometimes even ignoring their patients.
That’s not because the patients are black. It’s because the doctors usually only have ten or 15 minutes per patient because they’re overworked and understaffed. And I’m sure the insurance companies have a lot to do with that. And the human body is the most complicated piece of machinery ever created, and there are an infinite number of things that could be going wrong causing the pain. And even if you can accurately describe the symptoms, that often just narrows it down to perhaps a few dozen different causes.
And so they’re making an educated guess. And if that doesn’t work, then the patient is going to have to come back, and then they’re going to have to try again to diagnose what’s happening. And like I said, unless a patient is in severe pain, the doctors are always going to recommend over the counter pain treatments like ibuprofen or tylenol, which is acetaminophen or aspirin, instead of writing people prescriptions for pills, because those people could abuse them or they could turn around and sell them.
And so they’re always going to try to discourage that. It has nothing to do with anybody’s race. It just has to do with the industry itself. And the only way that we can expose and address it is by first telling our stories. We want to work better with doctors. And I think that a better, healthier medical system actually allows doctors to do their job better. So now when you’re in the pain relief aisle at the grocery store, you may be seeing this anvil campaign lecturing you about racist pain.
Equity occurs when everyone can reach their full health potential. We commit to inspire change by elevating stories and providing education. I think what they mean is they inspire change by encouraging doctors to just dish out prescriptions anytime anybody asks for them. And as usual, things are the exact opposite of what the woke lunatics are saying. Because it’s not that the doctors don’t believe black patients, it’s that black patients don’t believe white doctors.
Exactly, Victor. And research shows that when we have a more diverse physician workforce, there’s more understanding and more trust between the patient and the doctor. If the doctor has an understanding of the patient’s cultural experiences, cultural background, lived experiences, especially when it comes to racism or discrimination or other aspects of their life, that can help with that physician patient relationship. And we also see that patients are more likely to follow a physician’s medical advice if they do have a feeling of being heard and understood.
So all this plays a role in really improving public health. What does a doctor understanding supposed racism that patients have experienced or their lived experience have to do with them diagnosing the symptoms of their ailments? I mean, what’s next? Are they going to blame white people who live away from the cities and out in the suburbs or in the country for being a threat to democracy. Oh, wait, what’s this? Joining us now, professor of political science at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Tom scholar and journalist and opinion writer, Paul Waldman.
Their new book, out Tomorrow, is entitled white rural rage, the threat to American democracy. And, Tom, we’ll start with you. Why are white rural voters a threat to democracy at this point? You would think, as we pointed out, looking at Joe Biden’s background and Donald Trump’s, that the opposite would be true. I mean, we lay out the fourfold interconnected threat that white rural voters pose to the country, first of all, and we show 30 polls and national studies to demonstrate this.
So we provide the receipts in chapter six. They are the most racist, xenophobic, anti immigrant, and antigay geodemographic group in the country. It’s those white, rural country folks who are causing all the problems and are a danger to America, not the black Lives Matter mobs who riot and loot and burn hundreds of businesses down across the country. You may recall the general Mark Milley, who was the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, I believe, the highest ranking military officer in the country.
He wasn’t concerned about the black rage or the black grievances. He was concerned about white rage, whatever that is. And it is important that we train and we understand. And I want to understand white rage, and I’m white, and I want to understand it. And while he did retire, he was replaced with a diversity hire who is even more woke than him. Many of you may be wondering what I’m thinking about the current events surrounding the tragic death of George Floyd.
Here’s what I’m thinking about. Why are we going to let this fake news spread in the black community and then spark them to riot in cities across the country? We need to build more jails in order to stop letting the criminals back out on the streets who engage in that kind of behavior. We need to rein in the anti whiteism in this country, which is blaming white people for all black people’s problems.
Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking about. What are you thinking about? I’m thinking about how full I am with emotion, not just for George Floyd, but the many african Americans that have suffered the same fate as George Floyd. You mean who od’d? It is very sad, but they do bring that upon themselves. Tell us more about how you’ve helped ruin America’s military. General Charles Brown Jr. And the last thing I would say on that is how we encourage and mentor some of those diverse candidates, because sometimes they may feel like they’re not qualified, not put their name in, actually they’re not qualified, which is why they didn’t put their name in.
And we’ve got to actually nudge and pull and actually get some Dei hires up in the upper ranks purposely managed to ensure that we have diverse candidates that can compete. And if they need some help in certain areas with coaching or additional training or additional opportunities because they’re not qualified, so then you’re going to try to give them a little extra boost. That is something we’ve got to continue to work on as well.
So it’s really about providing those opportunities. It’s really about Dei. It’s really about advancing people into positions that they’re not qualified for because they’re black. This was the american military before wokeness. From microchip circuitry to laser technology, the world’s largest school for high tech skills is the army. Getting at your life in the army? And this is our military now. There was a time not that long ago when people like this would be immediately escorted from the base and kicked out.
But now they are openly posting TikTok videos of themselves transforming into their drag queen personas. And this drag queen was literally hired as the face of a recruitment campaign. He’s the big Navy TikTok recruiting officer who is literally recruiting more drag queens into our military. I’m serious. That’s not just something he’s doing in his spare time. The Navy literally hired him to be the face of their recruitment drive.
And a large reason things got so bad isn’t just because of wokeness. It’s also because so many Christians, conservatives and members of the Republican Party became so cowardly that for years they didn’t want to say anything about it because they didn’t want to be accused of being racist or homophobic. And so then the woke mind virus just kept growing and growing. And now we have the liberal pandemic that we’re all witnessing that is impossible to escape.
There is a whole chapter in my new book, the war on conservatives, on the cowardly conservatives. Because like I said, we’re not just opposed by the Democrats or the Marxists, also by traitors and cowards within our own ranks. So order the war on conservatives in paperback from Amazon. com or download the ebook from any of the major ebook stores. And of course there’s a link to the Amazon listing in the description below.
