Summary

➡ Dan shares his experience at Whole Foods, a high-quality grocery store known for its cleanliness, knowledgeable staff, and variety of products. Despite being more expensive than other stores, it offers unique features like a butcher station, a smoker for different meats, and a large cheese section. The store also has pre-made meals, a vast dairy section, and an olive bar. However, due to its high prices, Dan suggests it’s more suitable for special occasions rather than everyday shopping.

Hey, it’s Dan. Welcome back to I Allegedly. I’ve got a good one for you today because we’re gonna go into my favorite store. Arguably one of the most expensive. I like the quality and surely not the biggest store in the country. In fact, Whole Foods only has 533 locations compared to just over $4,600 for Walmart. About 11.5% of the size of Walmart, but they do billions of dollars in business, large chain, known for their quality, but let’s go take a look at it. Now, this is not the discount place. Are there good deals here? Yes, there are, but I like this store just for the sheer size of the fact that, I mean, you’ve got a produce section that’s massive, and they’re produce managers.

So, if you want to ask questions, if there’s things that are on sale, you can ask these people. They’re very knowledgeable with that, which is very, very cool, but it’s very clean. You know, I mean, everything’s kept up. Absolutely crazy. We’ll get some prices here in a second. Sparrowhead. That’s beautiful, you know, it just is. I’ll shop after I’m done. The banana, all the fresh nuts. Cool things. If you want to make your own peanut butter, they’ve got the equipment to where you can make your own peanut butter, which I think is cool.

Almond butter, all that stuff. Sweet potatoes, and you know, they have all the pre-made salads and things like that, but it’s just not inexpensive. They’ve got a nice fish market, pre-made pizzas, which are a tremendous deal, if you want that. Now, the three cheese pizza, kind of pricey, almost $12. The fish market’s looking really, really sweet today. I’ll get prices in all this stuff. Now, the cool thing, every Friday, they do a deal where they have 12 oysters for a dollar a piece. You get 12 oysters for a dollar, and they always have a huge selection of the different oysters.

Let’s get some prices on this stuff. Now, can you get better deals in the seafood, of course? Clams at $2.19 on sale each for a dollar a piece is a great deal. They’ve got all these pre-cut steaks, and then they’ve got the butcher station over here, but my truly one of my favorite things is the smoker. Every day, they smoke different meats, about 11 o’clock. This stuff comes out from ribs to chickens to everything, but the holidays, Easter, it’s funny, it’s Memorial Day weekend. I’m sure they’re going to ask if they’re going to have anything special for Memorial Day weekend.

They will have turkeys during Thanksgiving. They will have hams. I mean, it’s fantastic. It really, really is cool, but it’s just a different vibe. I mean, is it pricey? Yes. You know, you’ve got something on sale, but on average, I mean, it’s beautiful looking, you know? The store is huge. It’s really not busy right now at all too, which is really, really nice. So, I just spoke to the smoker, and there’s no plans for the holiday weekend to have anything different. They’re going to have brisket, they’re going to have tri-tip, ribs and chicken, and, you know, the filet mignon at $42.99 a pound, and then rib eye at $37 a pound.

It’s outrageous, man. I mean, it really is, but again, the quality of the meat, I don’t shop here on a regular basis, other than, like, I’m going to entertain this weekend. I’m going to buy the stuff here. The chicken, you know, they’ve got pre-packaged chicken, they’ve got things that discounted prices, they have all the organic stuff, but just the quality of everything they have here, all these, you know, pasteurized, pasture-raised beef, that’s chicken, I mean, all the stuff that they advertise. It’s great, but is it more expensive without a doubt? Without a flip and doubt.

So, I don’t envision this is your everyday store. Plus, you can’t get, like, you’re not going to get sodas and Diet Cokes and things like that at a place like this. Not that I’m drinking that stuff all the time, but Take and Bake is a real big deal. Got a huge milk section, all the dairy products, everything from yogurt to all the different creams and everything, but I love it for the brands. They have all these, if you are into food prepping, they already have the meals prepped, so you can get all that stuff that’s already done, which is really super cool.

I’ve bought these a bunch of times when I was in a hurry, or my son’s over, hey, get me some of these, you know, they’ve got a huge alcohol section, but again, inexpensive, no, not even close, and I get that. The thing I love about this place, too, is they have a cheese section. This location here in Tustin, California sells more cheese than any other location, and it started with a guy named George who worked here, and George, he would walk up and he’d say, hey, I want to try this. George would open up a package, cut it open for you, and cut you a slice.

Oh, what do you like? Oh, I like blue cheese that’s really strong. You can cut it open, but they just have this huge section of the one. You don’t want to do anything crazy. Now, some of the stuff, I mean, you’re gonna sit there, I’m just grabbing this little block of cheese, seven dollars and eighty cents. Is it pricey? Yes. I love their olive bar, which is really cool because you can just take as little as you want or as much as you want. They’ve got these really cool containers. You can divide into fours and all that.

You can, you know, get what you want, sold by weight, and I mean, it’s pretty cool, but again, you know, they’ve already got the pre-made sauces done, shredded Parmesan cheese, five bucks, but some of this stuff, you know, they got cheese on sale. Let’s see what this is, you know, 17 dollars. Yes, I mean, it’s a lot for certain things, but again, I love to entertain and bring people here. Like, you have guests coming over for dinner. Oh, let’s go shop. Let’s go buy everything. Oh, you want shoes? When I’m a cheese player, you’re going to make a charcuterie board.

My niece comes over and makes that. Okay, $7.50. I mean, it’s not a deal. I get it, but here’s one for you. Ouch, $15. But then they’ve got all the crackers and stuff. This place, I believe it has a total of seven restaurants in it. You’ve got Japanese here, you’ve got Chinese food here, but don’t make sushi for it. Don’t make it fresh. You’ve got the, you can have chicken, you can have Mexican food over here. They’ve got the pizzas that they make all the time. I believe Friday is the pizza deal day where you can buy pizza and you can buy stuff by the slice.

Usually two for seven, now it’s two for $8. You get a pizza slice and then they have stuff that they constantly cook and you can just put it in the box and get that. They have a full bakery here too, which is really, really cool because you get all these fresh breads. But the cool thing with fresh bread is they, let’s say you buy a loaf of bread like this. You’ve been to people’s houses, they cut it, it’s all thick, it’s all screwed up. They’ve got the machine here that you can pop it in just like she just did and pop the bread of the machine that slices it for you.

You can determine the thickness and all that. I mean, it’s really super cool. Now, all the desserts, fatty, you come over here and stock up. But again, I’ve never brought something here that’s like, oh, you know, I was hoping to find this. Okay, the fruit tart, $27 for that thing. That’s crazy. And then they’ve got slices, that tiramisu that’s beautiful, not for different cakes. You can get all this stuff discounted. They’ve got prepackaged meals already. They have custom family meals where you can get a single meal for $13 where you can pick a protein in your salad.

And then they’ve got fidelity. I mean, it’s just so cool, you know. And the thing about this, they have staples that are here all the time, but then they have all this different stuff that’s different. Again, never brought anybody here that wasn’t happy. And they have a salad bar. The salad bar is different where you’ve got all these hot items over here and they charge you by the pound. So the other thing is you’ve got the cold side over here. So soups and hot soup, just goes on and on and on.

Now, is it cheaper? No, not at all. But then you’ve got every type of soda you could want, other than the national brands. It’s everything else. And then behind me you’ve got the wine and the frozen section that goes to both sides. Isn’t that cool? So all the frozen vegetables, they have everything like that. Now, once again, I don’t see a family shopping here to save money on a regular basis. I think that you’re going to shop here and understand that you’re just going to pay more money. It’s that simple. I like the quality.

I think it’s worth it. You know, they’ve got all these different frozen foods. You’ve got all the brand names. You’ve got the Amy’s brand. You’ve got the Rao’s brand. All that stuff is here. And then they’ve got a few of the pizzas that have gone viral where they’ve got the large frozen slices. And you’ve got all that stuff that you can get. But I just wanted to show you some more prices and stuff on this. It’s just big. Are you going to pay more money for this place? Without a doubt. But they’ve got their brand.

Their brand here is 365. We’ve got all the pastas, all the sauces. I make my dog’s food. I make it all for it. And I get all the different ingredients. I always get it here. Because the turkey is organic. I get all the vegetables that are good. And I chop up any of the frozen vegetables or canned vegetables. It’s all the organic stuff. It’s a little bit more expensive, but compared to the national brands that when I bought her food from those other places that I’ve tried, she hated it, by the way. And it was just more expensive.

And you guys just get the gist of it. Tons of chips, you know, coffee, tea, all that stuff. You know, everything’s organic, organic-based, all that stuff. We’ve got creams and all that stuff here, too. But just really, really, I enjoy it for the quality. But is it a deal? No. So close it out in a second. Now, I hope you enjoyed this sauce of sushi. Plus, the cool thing is they’ll make sushi for you. If you want to have specific roll or anything like that, and you’ve got all the different rotisserie chickens. Now, $9.59 is not a deal.

$13.79 for all organic. You can sit there and flip out and say it’s too much money. I just like the quality, guys. It’s more, it’s like going to Publix. Publix, I’ve had all these people send me different things about how expensive Publix is. If you like that, if that’s your quality, that’s what you’re doing. So let me know. Hit the like button, subscribe. If you’re part of the email list, check your spam filter because one just one out. But what do you guys think about this? Again, I would pay more to come here.

I do. I do pay more to come here. I don’t do my everyday shopping here. I’m not buying paper towels from this place. I’m not buying my coffee from this place. I’m just buying stuff that I want. And I have people coming over. So we’ll get a dessert for everybody. Something different, something that’s pretty and ooh la la as they cut it and have the calories. So hit the like button, subscribe to the channel. Let me know what you want to see. I’m glad you guys said you wanted to see this because of all the locations, this is the biggest one that I have been to.

Okay. And thank God it’s in my town. Onward and upward, guys. I’ll see you soon. I finished my shopping and they let me be artichoke king for a day. How cool is that? Artichokes are coming. So I’m king of the artichokes. Okay. Mr. Artichoke for the day. Okay. [tr:trw].
